1979 Dodge Little Red Express on 2040-cars
Sioux Falls, South Dakota, United States
Here for sale is a 1979 Dodge Little Red Express. I bought this truck on ebay in July of 2007, and it has been in my garage since. I have accumulated a LOT of parts to do a full restoration. I've lost interest and need the storage space, so my loss is your gain! This truck is very original, has numbers matching original engine and tranny. When I bought this truck, it had been in storage in New Mexico for 17 years and had 44605 miles on it, so I didn't drive it much as it has 44641 now. I believe the odometer is accurate. It has a black interior with the split bucket seat option, needs a new seat cover which is included. I bought a new cover from Dodge Connection and it is the OEM replacement cover. It has factory A/C, which is not charged. It has not been repainted or restored, but is in original condition. There is no rust at all! The wood in the bed is the original painted red and needs replacing. Included is new oak replacement boards, you can varnish them or paint them red to keep it original. The wheels are original, but need replating. The tires have lots of tread, but are age-checked. All 4 shocks have been replaced. The decorative wood on the side of the box is original and all there. You can decide if you want to sand them down and revarnish, or use them for patterns to make new ones. The carpet is in excellent condition and would just need a good shampooing. The engine has the correct code stamped on the block for the Little Red. The engine runs well and the truck starts right up and drives, so it is easily driven on a transport. Other parts that go with the truck in random order: NOS parking brake cables, OEM replacement door weatherstrips, and window guides for both door windows, NOS dealer install cruise control kit, used AM-FM 8 track tape player, volt/vacuum gauge with bezels, factory tachometer with bezel, 2 used "Tuff" steering wheels, NOS EGR tube, used exhaust manifolds, (the truck has headers, but I was intending to put the cast exhaust manifolds back on), exterior screw kit and interior screw kit from Dodge Connection, repro door decals, radiator overflow tank, washer fluid tank with pump, limited slip center section for the rear differential, 1979 Dodge Truck Shop Manual, 1978-1981 Dodge Truck Parts Manual, aftermarket power door lock kit, OEM replacement air cleaner decal, and a 1979 Dodge Truck laminated wiring diagram. I might have missed something, but it all goes with the truck! The Little Reds were only made in 1978 & 1979, and they were the fastest production vehicles both years. there were only 5118 1979 Little Reds, so there aren't many left. You will look long and hard to find another one this nice for restoration. the 360 was specially equipped for the Little Reds, including special heads, intake manifold, rods, pistons, etc. The 727 transmission was "beefed" up and includes a special 2500 stall converter. These trucks are a blast to drive and turn heads wherever you go! Please email me at investwithmark@hotmail.com with questions, or for more pictures. I would encourage you to come and take a look for yourself! You won't be sorry. |

FCA goes all-in on Jeep and Ram brands on cheap gas bet
Wed, Jan 27 2016It's no surprise that as SUV and truck sales remain strong in the wake of unusually cheap gas, Jeep and Ram sales are taking off. What is a surprise is that FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne thinks that cheap gas will be a "permanent condition," and feels strongly enough about it to change up North American manufacturing plans. Jeep appears to be the biggest beneficiary of the product realignment. In addition to increasing the sales estimates for the brand worldwide upwards to 2 million units a year by 2018, the brand will get a flood of investment for new product and powertrains. Consider the Wrangler Pickup to be part of the salvo, as well as the Grand Wagoneer three-row announced in 2014 as part of the original five-year plan. The Wrangler four-door will get at least two new powertrains, a diesel and mild hybrid version, in its next generation. That mild hybrid powertrain may utilize a 48-volt electrical system like the one that's being developed by Delphi and Bosch – which the suppliers think will be worth a 10 to 15 percent fuel economy gain at a minimum. Down the road, in the 2020s, the Wrangler could adopt a full hybrid system. The diesel powertrain is planned for 2019 or 2020. The Ram 1500 is also pegged to receive a mild hybrid system, again potentially based on 48-volt architecture, sometime after 2020. Lastly, Jeep and Ram will take over some of the production capacity of existing plants. The Sterling Heights, MI, plant that builds the Chrysler 200 will now build the Ram 1500; the Belvidere, IL, facility that produces the Dodge Dart will take over Cherokee output; the big Jeep facility in Toledo, OH, will be used for increased Wrangler demand. In 2015, according to FCA's numbers, car and van demand went down by 10 percent, but SUV demand went up 8 percent and truck demand 2 percent. Considering that these are high-margin vehicles, FCA can't ignore the math. FCA also won't build any new factories to supplement production to meet demand, but instead are reshuffling production priorities. Think of it this way: FCA is gambling on cheap gas being a permanent part of our lives, at least into the 2020s. By doubling down on SUVs and trucks, the company stands to win big, unless a spike in gas prices changes the landscape. FCA isn't talking about a Plan B, so they're all in. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
Cruise Woodward Avenue with Autoblog's Dodge Challenger Hellcat
Thu, Aug 20 2015While Autoblog was consumed by coverage of the increasingly important Monterey Car Week last weekend, there was another big even going on. The Woodward Dream Cruise is significantly lighter in terms of news, but there's no denying that it's a far bigger, and far more egalitarian than what the wine-and-cheese crowd experience on the links at Pebble Beach. The Dream Cruise crams tens of thousands of cars and over a million spectators along a four-lane ribbon of asphalt between Ferndale and Pontiac, MI. What's remarkable aren't these numbers, though, so much as the distances they travel. Owners and admirers come from far and wide, across the United States and in some cases across the globe, to take in the spectacle. This year, local radio and television coverage featured fans that traveled from Japan, Australia, and Europe, just to take in the cruise. Of course, we realize that not everyone can make the pilgrimage to Woodward Avenue. With that fact in mind, we decided to bring a bit of the Dream Cruise to Autoblog with a time-lapse video of the cruise route. You can experience the good (a Lamborghini Gallardo, Chevrolet Chevelle, and Oldsmobile Cutlass 442), the bad (the traffic jams), and the ugly (no, your 2003 Ford Focus does not qualify as a classic, get the hell out of the cruiser lanes). So join us, as we turn off 8 Mile Road behind the wheel of our 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and run north, through Ferndale, Pleasant Ridge, Royal Oak, Huntington Woods, Berkley, Bloomfield Township, and Bloomfield Hills, before ending up on Wide Track Drive in Pontiac.
Our video tribute to Star Wars with a Stormtrooper Charger
Fri, Dec 18 2015When the refreshed Dodge Charger debuted, the white one was immediately compared to a Star Wars Stormtrooper helmet. Chrysler recently ran with that idea and decorated a fleet of cars, including some Chargers, for use in a marketing stunt to hype its wares alongside the no-hype-necessary Episode VII: The Force Awakens film. We got our hands on one for a day and had some fun making a few videos. Above are a few shorts with names that we at least think are funny. There's one that includes the latest example of video producer Chris McGraw's patented nightlapse technology (it's a hyperlapse shot at night, which just looks plain neat). In the clip below, you can see all of the car's various Stormtrooper-inspired details. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. The car started out as a bright white Charger R/T Scat Pack and was treated to a partial vinyl wrap on the body and the glass. The fantastic 485-horsepower Hemi V8 was left alone. Watch the videos and then tell us how they're non-canon in the comments. Humor Dodge Videos Original Video star wars dodge charger scat pack
