You are bidding on a nice unrestored survivor 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express Truck.  This was a very limited-production "muscle truck," and held the honor of the fastest American production vehicle in both 1978 and 1979.  There were just over 5,000 made and they are already considered very rare and collectible.

This particular truck features all its' original body panels and has zero outer body rust-through; only very minor hints of surface rust where the paint has been scratched or chipped.  The floors had some surface rust which was wire-brushed off and sprayed with a rust-preventative paint.  The body is very straight with only a couple of minor dings.  The paint is still shiny and shows well, but is not perfect; same with the decals and pin striping. Overall, the truck shows very well and gets lots of compliments.

The glass, chrome, trim, and decorative oak wood trim is in good sound condition.  The exhaust stacks are in excellent condition on both sides.  The original chrome slot wheels are showing some age with some chrome failing, but still look nice. The chrome step is excellent on the driver's side with no issues, and still looks nice on the passenger side with some peeling chrome plating.  The glass in the driver's outside rear view mirror is broken.  The wood in the bed definately needs to be replaced, and the interior needs new carpet; those are really the only things the truck "needs" other than some fine tuning and minor sorting out. I have looked online and found the bed wood kit for just over $400.00, and the carpet kit for under $130.00; these are both things anyone with two hands and basic tools can accomplish in a day.

The truck runs strong and sounds great, but could use final fine tuning and perhaps a carb service.  The 3.55 rear end has been fully rebuilt, and the transmission serviced.  I just went through the entire brake system including new power booster, master cylinder, front calipers and pads, and rear shoes.  While not a perfect truck, it's a sound running and driving classic needing only minor cosmetics and sorting out.  I've priced it to represent a bargain and leave room for the buyer to enjoy as-is, or restore.

The seat has a split in the driver's area. The dash pad is excellent, door panels very good *(no cracks on either), gauges all intact, windows all roll up and down properly, etc.  The lights, turn signals, and brake lights are all properly working. Truck has power steering, power brakes, and Air Conditioning *(will need to be recharged; still there and connected).

The truck ships with its' original chrome slot wheels with nice staggered 275/235-60 Cooper Cobra Radial GT tires.

While every effort is being made to describe the vehicle accurately, it is a 34-year-old vintage classic and being sold as-is, with no warranty expressed or implied.  Shipping will be the full responsibility of the buyer; however, I will make myself available to your shipper for loading with 24-hour notice.

You may contact me directly at 360-936-9257 with any questions, offers, etc.  Zero-feedback bidders need to please contact me prior to bidding to discuss your intentions.  Please be prepared to remit payment in full within three days of auction end by certified major bank cashier's check, bank wire transfer, or cash.

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat en route to dealers

Sat, 15 Nov 2014

Get ready, world: The 707-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has officially been unleashed. But rather than just have the big coupes quietly arrive at dealers, Dodge has released this video, showing Hellcats loading up onto car carriers at Fiat-Chrysler's Brampton, Ontario plant. And yes, that is Mötley Crüe's "Kickstart My Heart" playing in the background. Of course.
This really is worth all the fanfare, though, considering Dodge will sell its ridiculously powerful, supercharged machine for just $59,995. And if the Challenger isn't quite up your alley, just remember, there's an equally powerful, 204-mph, four-door Charger Hellcat on the way...

2016 Dodge Viper ACR is ready to take a bite out of the Corvette Z06 [w/video]

Fri, May 8 2015

The Dodge Viper ACR is back, and as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles tells it, it's the most venomous breed ever born. Before you get too excited, the 8.4-liter V10 produces 645 horsepower; five more than the standard Viper and five less than the supercharged Chevrolet Corvette Z06. It's unclear why Dodge didn't extract more from the huge engine, although we somehow imagine that certain people in Maranello, Italy had a say in the matter. Instead of blessing the ACR variant with bunches of extra output, Dodge instead turned to an aggressive aerodynamics package that it claims delivers nearly a ton of downforce at the Viper's maximum speed of 177 miles per hour. The total aero package includes an adjustable, twin-element, carbon-fiber rear wing, carbon-fiber diffuser, an extendable front splitter, and dive planes. Those big louvers on the hood? Yeah, they're removable, too. The "race-tuned" suspension uses coil-over Bilstein shocks that offer ten different settings and up to three inches of height adjustment. Kumho Ecsta V720 tires were built specifically for the Viper ACR, and come in 355/30 in back and 295/25 in front, with 19-inch wheels at all four corners. Along with the aero improvements, Dodge is claiming the Viper can pull a race-car-like 1.5Gs in higher-speed turns. Carbon-ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers add the stopping power that's greater or equal to the ACR's cornering performance. Dodge was also keen to reduce weight, taking some rather dramatic measures in the effort. The stereo has just three speakers, while the electric function was removed from the seats. Even the carpet has been replaced with a "lightweight" alternative. Finally, Dodge is offering up the innovative 1 of 1 customization it pioneered with the Viper GT earlier this year. That means that not only can you get the fastest Viper ever built, but it'll be entirely your own when you take delivery.

How fracking is causing Chrysler minivans to sit on Detroit's riverfront

Fri, 25 Apr 2014

It's fascinating the way that one change to a complex system can have all sorts of unintended consequences. For instance, there are hundreds of new Chrysler Town and County and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans built in Windsor, Ontario, sitting in lots on the Detroit waterfront because of the energy boom in the Bakken oil field in the northern US and parts of Canada.
The huge amount of crude oil coming from these sites mostly use freight trains for transport, and that supply boom has resulted in a shortage of railcars to carry other goods. According to The Windsor Star, North American crude oil transport by train has gone from 9,500 carloads in 2008 to 434,032 carloads in 2013. Making matters worse, some North American rail infrastructure is still damaged because of this year's harsh winter, and that's slowing things down even further.
Chrysler admits to The Star that it has had some delivery delays due to the freight train shortage. In the meantime, it's using more trucks to deliver its vehicles. Trucking is a far less economical solution, partially because a train can carry so many more units at one time, but alternatives are slim. The Windsor plant alone has a deal for 33 trucks to distribute the minivans around Canada and the Midwestern US.
