1972 72 Dodge W100 D100 W 100 D 100 Utiline Stepside Long Bed 4wd Step Side on 2040-cars
Littleton, Colorado, United States
Up for auction is this very rare 1972 Dodge W100 / D100 4WD Truck with the lock out
and/or locking hubs. It has the ultra rare utiline long bed step side
with the spare tire. This is a good running and driving truck with the
318 Poly Wide Block V8 4-speed on the floor with a 2-barrel carburetor.
This is the precursor to the Lil Red Express and/or Warlock and this
truck has some of those features. There is a Mopar AM/FM cassette in it
and it has a nice wood grain dash and Mopar Buddy Seat, and sliding rear window.
The body is good and bears the U.S. Forest Service Green Paint, under the hood as well, with a few primer spots here and there. It has a little surface rust and some light rust but a nice body for a complete restoration or drive it as it is with the 40 plus years of patina. The wood in the bed needs to be replaced and it looks like the floor pans have been replaced at some time. See the pictures. This truck is not perfect but it is a great candidate for a complete restoration. You can drive it as it is or while restoring it if you choose. However, the patina looks good as it is. Either way, you'll get looks and "thumbs up" all the time. If it doesn't sell, I will leave the 40 plus years of patina on it, put a couple of U.S. Forest Service decals/stickers on it and drive it as it is. It's a cool old truck. I know the rarity of this truck. When was the last time you saw one of these? Please ask questions and/or ask for pictures as needed but please ask questions early and/or ask for more pictures early in the auction so I time to respond. A $1,000 nonrefundable deposit is due with 48 hours of the end of the auction. |

MotorWeek proves '90s were awesome with Supra, Stealth, RX-7, Corvette, 968, 300ZX comparo
Thu, 24 Jul 2014Oh, the heady days of 1993, back when the Clinton Presidency was just getting underway, and it seemed like every hot new rock band was coming out of Seattle. Sports cars in the US had finally shaken off the shackles that slowed them during the '70s and '80s, and you could buy any number of legitimately quick vehicles again. MotorWeek recently went digging into its archives to find this six-model test from 1993 showing off some of the best semi-affordable performance coupes that money could buy at the time, and it's priceless.
Featuring the 1994 model year Toyota Supra in twin-turbo guise and MY 1993 versions of the Porsche 968, Nissan 300ZX TT, Mazda RX-7, Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo and Chevrolet Corvette LT-1, MotorWeek definitely covered all of the bases. One thing that might surprise younger readers is these cars' performance. The video only provides 0-60 acceleration times, but several of these vehicles would still be considered pretty potent today - over 20 years since going on sale. The Supra is especially impressive, hitting 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. Even today, that's nothing to sneeze at.
Given their performance potential and still-attractive looks, it's amazing that some of these coupes are old enough to drink now. The progress of interior design and safety equipment in the intervening years is pretty shocking, though. In most of these models, having two airbags is touted as a big deal. Scroll down to watch a Throwback Thursday blast from the past about some of the '90s best sports cars.
Dodge Durango gets the Blacktop treatment
Sat, 09 Aug 2014The Dodge Durango is getting a meaner, more aggressive look as it becomes the latest model from the brand to wear the Blacktop Appearance Package. The upgrades are strictly cosmetic, but they lend the SUV a more assertive demeanor that some buyers like.
Available on the SXT, Limited and R/T (shown above) models, all Blacktop Durangos get black 20-inch wheels, dual exhaust, bod- color fascia and gloss black trim. The grille surround, air dam, mirrors and headlight surrounds all get the inky treatment, as well. The improvements add $1,590 to the cost of the SXT. They come to $1,990 on the Limited but also include HID headlights with LED running lights and a leather interior. Finally, R/T buyers only need to pay $295 for the upgrades. The Blacktop Durango hits showrooms this October.
If you're already in the market for a Durango but want a dash more style with no added performance, the Blacktop might not be a bad way to go. It certainly gives the SUV a bit more edge than it has in stock form. Scroll down to read the full release.
