1970 Dodge Truck D300 Custom Cab 383 Loaded Fully Restored Frame Up on 2040-cars
Augusta, Georgia, United States
Up for auction is a 1970 Dodge D300 Truck with flatbed. This truck was stripped down to the bare frame rails and fully restored over about a 6 year period. This truck started life as a cab and chassis setup with a van body on the rear. The previous owner who we purchased it from locally in '95 kept the van body. He was told and supposedly at one time had paperwork showing that this truck belonged to Bobby Allison when he switched to Dodge in '70. I do not have anything to prove that nor have I put much effort in trying to confirm that. I did meet Donnie Allison in person about 12 years ago but he couldn't confirm anything at that time. The inside of the van body doors did have notes scribed in for different track setups and it did have racks underneath the rear of the frame for acetylene tanks. As far as I know the guy locally still has it so there is a chance of being able to get pictures of that at some point.
This is a 1970 Dodge D300 Custom Cab truck, factory 383 with automatic transmission. Factory A/C, am radio, power steering, power brakes, 159" w.b. Heavy Duty gauge cluster with tach. Polished aluminum grille, rare factory west coast stainless steel mirrors and arms. Factory stainless steel drip rail trim and inside door panel trim. If it was an option, this truck came with it. These were not items I added, this truck came with them originally. As I said, this truck was stripped down to the bare frame rails, they were blasted/cleaned and powder coated. The sheetmetal had all rust cut out and replaced with either NOS or good used pieces. Scoured the country from late 90's to late 2000's for NOS parts, including the NOS D300 emblems and Custom emblems. Antenna, cab and marker lights, door handles/arm rest, sunvisors, anything that could not be restored or reused, parts were found to repair/replace. Even to the point of original factory decals and reproduction ribbed style hoses under the hood. The electrical system was completely gone through by Mike Rhode, one of the best in the business. The motor and transmission were both rebuilt, runs and shifts great. The entire power steering system and axles gone through, inspected and rebuilt. Has rare factory front and rear shocks. The a/c was completely torn down and rebuilt, updated with Sanden A/C Compressor and running off modern R134. Truck has the 3 speed automatic with Dana 70's w/4.88 rearend ratio. I've looked into changing the ratio from 4.88 to 4.10 but have not done so as yet. At 70 mph truck runs at 3500 RPM's. I've had it higher but the truck runs more smoothly and comfortable around 3000 RPM's. I did add carpet (not an option) as it's very difficult to find an original rubber floormat. I also added a AM/FM radio w/CD player and 2 external speakers (under and behind CD). The behind the seat fuel tank was removed (still have and can go with truck) and a 45 gallon frame mounted tank added. Truck currently has around 2500 miles on it. Restoration started in spring '04 and was mostly completed by early summer 2010, with a majority of the work being done by myself, my Dad and Mike Rhode. One of the first trips out and first show was June 2010 in Sevierville, TN at the All Mopar Smoky Mountain Mopar Show. Truck was driven up and back, over 600 miles while easily winning first place in the truck class. It draws attention every time I take it out and every time it goes to a show, having already one several first place trophies locally since then. I added a CM Truck bed to the back, they worked with me to custom spec the bed to fit the contours of the rear of the cab. This truck will come with a bill of sale and proof of registration in Georgia. There is no title. Georgia doesn't require one for a vehicle 25 years or older. It has been registered and insured since 2010. I do not have to sale this truck but currently looking for another project, so time to move on. Partial trades will be considered including late 60's/early 70's Cuda/Challenger/Road Runner/GTX/Duster/Charger. Please do not ask what the reserve price is, I will not disclose it. Truck sold as is. There will be a few extra parts that come with it, including 2 original lock rim style wheels (had to replace with modern one piece in order to put simulators on front axle, rear axle still running lock rim wheels). Also including a few NOS power steering hoses and a couple other odd and end items. For all the restoration pictures, please check on the page on my site. olddodges.com/pictures/index.php?cat=11 I have not seen another truck out there restored to this condition or one of this model with all these options. This truck has been garaged during and since being restored. It has been a joy to drive and show. I've tried to include as much information as I can in the description, if you have additional questions please email me. Thanks for looking. |

Stellantis mega-merger gets approval from FCA, PSA shareholders
Mon, Jan 4 2021MILAN — Shareholders of Fiat Chrysler and PSA Peugeot decisively voted Monday to merge the U.S.-Italian and French carmakers to create worldÂ’s 4th-largest auto company. Addressing separate meetings, both PSA Peugeot CEO Carlos Tavares and Fiat Chrysler Chairman John Elkann spoke of the “historic” importance of the vote, which combines legacy car companies that helped write the industrial histories of the United States, France and Italy. Before the merger is finalized, shares in the new company, to be called Stellantis, must the launched. It will be traded in Milan, New York and Paris. The marriage of PSA Peugeot and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is built on the promise of cost-savings in the capital-hungry industry, but what remains to be seen is if it will be able to preserve jobs and heritage brands in a global market still suffering from the pandemic. The deal will create the worldÂ’s fourth-largest carmaker, with the capacity to produce 8.7 million cars a year, behind Volkswagen, Toyota and Renault-Nissan, and create 5 billion euros in annual synergies. “We are fully aware of the fact that together we will be stronger than individually,'' PSA CEO Carlos Tavares told a virtual gathering of eligible shareholders. “The two companies are in good health. These two companies have strong positions in their markets.” The new company will put together under one roof French mass-market carmakers Peugeot and Citroen, top-selling Jeep and Italian luxury and sports brands Maserati and Alfa Romeo - pooling companies that have helped define the industry in the United States, France and Italy. While the tie-up is billed as a merger of equals, the power advantage goes to PSA, with Tavares running Stellantis and holding the tie-breaking vote on the 11-seat board. Tavares is set to take full control of the company early this year, possibly by the end of January. Fiat Chrysler chairman John Elkann, heir to the Fiat-founding Agnelli family and Fiat ChryslerÂ’s biggest shareholder, will be the Stellantis chairman. Fiat Chrysler CEO Mike Manley will head North American operations, which is key to Tavares' long-time goal of getting a U.S. foothold for the French carmaker he has run since 2014, and the clear money-maker for Fiat Chrysler. Such a deal was long wanted by Fiat ChryslerÂ’s long-time CEO Sergio Marchionne, who had predicted the necessity of consolidation in the industry. He was unable to find a deal before his sudden death in July 2018.

2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad
Thu, 17 Jul 2014Watchers of the auto industry will notice a theme among the formerly bankrupted American automakers, General Motors and Chrysler. There are the post-bankruptcy vehicles, and the pre-bankruptcy vehicles. The former, in the case of Chrysler, include the Jeep Grand Cherokee, as well as the 200 and 300. For GM, there's the Cadillac ATS, Chevrolet Impala and Buick Encore, among others. These vehicles have the freshest styling, with sharp exteriors and well-crafted interiors, as well as advanced powertrains and well-sorted chassis.
As for the pre-bankruptcy vehicles, they tend to be easy to spot. Most suffer from inferior driving dynamics, cheaper interiors, poorer fuel economy and often homely looks (we know, there were some decent cars before the bankruptcy, but they were pretty heavily outweighed by the bad ones). Think late, last-generation Chevrolet Impala or Chrysler 200. Increasingly, though, we're seeing vehicles that split the balance between pre- and post-bankruptcy. Vehicles like the Dodge Journey.
The Journey debuted in 2007 as a 2008 model year vehicle, meaning it should fall into the latter category. But heavily breathed upon in 2011, it now enjoys a new, 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, a big, critically acclaimed touchscreen display and in the case of today's tester, a new-for-2014 Crossroad spec.
