I bought this truck out of southern Pennsylvania about 4 years ago. It had been sitting for awhile. I believe I am the third owner. I did the brakes 100% including shoes, wh cyls, hoses, lines as needed, master cyl , hardware as needed. Tune up with plugs points cap, rotor, wires, carb kit. Gas tank pulled & checked out ok. New clutch master & slave cyl. Shocks pulled & check out ok. The exhaust was shot so I built a custom dual system using Hedman headers. It was cheaper than a factory system and is quiet. This past year it got a new battery & 10 ply radial tires. The truck has very rare factory stainless steel west coast type mirrors as well as an equally rare interior day/nite mirror. It even has period correct "aerodynamic" stainless wiper blades. It still has the original jack & lug wrench, underneath spare tire carrier as well as a bed carrier but no spare tire. It has a class 3 trailer hitch and correct 6 pin wiring connection. There is a Tekonsha electric brake control in the cab but it is not working. Maybe a wiring issue, I have not messed with it. I have towed my car trailer with no problem. Factory step bumper. Owners manual included. The mileage was in the 62,000 range when I bought it but at 66,446 the speedo broke due to the wrong cable (too long). I replaced the speedo with a used one showing 79,085 miles and the correct cable. It works perfectly. I estimate the actual mileage at not much more than 67,000 but I cannot document it other than showing the pictures of both speedometers. All lights, horn, wipers etc. work as they should. It has a complete intact factory windshield washer system but I have never tried it. Things I know it needs: driver's vent cable; heater cable froze in "on" position, passenger door does not lock with key (link missing), door window weather-strip & cat whiskers. If I were to keep it, I would change the soft plugs although they do not seem to leak now. As far as rust, everybody has their own ideas and standards. This truck has rust and has had rust repair and a repaint in the past. The drivers floor has been repaired as have the running board step areas, inner front fender wells by hood hinges. A previous owner lined the bed floor & sides with 1/8 " steel plate, why? I do not know. Looking underneath, the original bed floor & sides do not appear to be all rusted out. However there is now some rust showing in areas of this plating as shown. The truck appears today as when I bought it. It is very solid in my opinion, doors open & close with no sag. Tailgate has had some repair to right side hinge area, but works as it should. Overall this truck runs & drives very well. It starts right up, does not smoke or use oil. Previous owner claimed to have done a valve job, but I cannot document that. It is not a show piece but for a 45 year old Dodge truck in upstate New York it is in very good overall reliable condition and gets favorable comments whenever I take it out. I have described this vehicle to the best of my ability but I may have overlooked something. I encourage you to come take a look and a drive and to ask any questions you may have. If you need more pix, let me know. I will not ship. Truck is "as is where is". If reserve is met, I will through in major power steering components, including pump, ram, drag link, misc. hoses of which I have over $300 invested. Bid to own, not to show up & decide something else. Thank you for your consideration.

Peugeot's American future looks dead, but Stellantis intends to keep all brands alive
Fri, Feb 12 2021The years-old promise of a Peugeot return in the U.S. is looking bleaker by the second. Peugeot said the French brand would come back to sell cars in the U.S. five years ago, but now that FCA and PSA have transitioned to one Stellantis, that promise is looking a lot shakier. This news comes via a report from Car and Driver. When queried about Peugeot, Carlos Tavares, Stellantic CEO, offered this in response: “For the time being, I don't think that is part of the things that we want to prioritize for the next time window," Tavares said. "I think it's better that we funnel the talent, the capital, and the engineering capability of our Stellantis company to the existing brands to improve what needs to be improved and to accelerate where we need to accelerate, because we already have a very strong presence in this market." Tavares hasnÂ’t ruled it out entirely, but any kind of a Peugeot American renaissance is being pushed onto the backburner. In good news for American brands, though, Tavares expressed great interest in keeping them all. Chrysler was the most worrisome of the bunch, as it only sells the aging 300 sedan and Pacifica minivan variants. Nevertheless, Tavares sees Chrysler as one of the “three historical pillars of Stellantis” and is eager “to give this brand a future.” Specifically, Tavares sees a high-tech future for the once-great American car company. Motor Trend reported on what Tavares spoke about in a call with the media. "It needs to rebound,” Tavares said. “We could think about what could be the next technologies in the automotive industry.” The obvious hint here is electrification and greater autonomy. Chrysler could theoretically become StellantisÂ’ electric showcase brand. ItÂ’s partway there with the Pacifica Hybrid PHEV minivan, but thereÂ’s still a long way to go for it to become the conglomerate's tech pillar. And then thereÂ’s Dodge and its powerful but emissions-heavy lineup. "We have the technology to deliver the torque, dynamics, and acceleration feeling, while also dramatically reducing the emissions," Tavares said. The Hellcat canÂ’t have a window-shattering 6.2-liter supercharged V8 forever, but it looks like Stellantis is at least committed to keeping the performance of DodgeÂ’s current lineup. Related video:
Chrysler recalling 67k trucks with manual transmissions
Tue, Dec 30 2014Earlier this month, Chrysler announced the recall of some 280,000 pickup trucks over concerns that their axles could seize up. Now the automaker has announced an entirely separate recall of another 66,819 trucks over the springs that could break in the clutch ignition interlock switch. The recall affects Dodge Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups, as well as the Dodge Dakota and Mitsubishi Raider. The issue is relevant only to those trucks fitted with manual transmissions, from the 2006 and 2007 model years and manufactured between July 1, 2005, and July 31, 2006. Since a broken spring could, according to statements issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and FCA US LLC (previously known as the Chrysler Group) prevent the vehicle from starting, or cause it to move unintentionally once the ignition kicks over, the automaker will begin notifying owners of the affected vehicles just before Valentine's Day to bring their trucks into their local dealers to have the clutch ignition interlock switch replaced. FCA emphasizes, however, that the unintended movement would only occur "in rare cases" and only "if recommended starting procedures are not followed." Only one such case is known to have occurred, but it did regrettably result in a fatality. Statement: Clutch Ignition Interlock Switch December 29, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is launching a voluntary global recall of an estimated 66,819 older-model pickup trucks equipped with manual transmissions. The Company will replace their clutch ignition interlock switches at no charge to customers. An investigation by FCA US engineers discovered switches in certain model-year 2006 and 2007 pickups may be equipped with spring wire that differs from wire used in previous switches. The alternate wire may break and, as a result, the vehicles may not start. In rare cases, a vehicle may – if recommended starting procedures are not followed – exhibit unintended movement when its ignition key is turned. The Company is aware of one fatality related to this campaign. It stemmed from the single known accident involving this population of vehicles. The recall covers certain Dodge Dakota, Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 and Mitsubishi Raider pickups. Switches with the alternate wire were not used in any vehicles produced before July of 2005, or after June of 2006. The Dakota and Raider are no longer in production.
Junkyard Gem: 1992 Dodge Shadow America
Tue, Aug 2 2016A quarter-century ago, most Americans looking for a cheap transportation appliance went for cars like the miserably-stripped-down-but-bulletproof Toyota Tercel or the feature-laden-but-reliability-challenged Hyundai Excel. Chrysler, having just discontinued the elderly "Omnirizon" platform, took the Dodge Shadow and its Plymouth sibling, the Sundance and offered a car that was bigger, more powerful, and better-equipped than just about anything else for the price: the America! These cars depreciated hard and nearly all were crushed a decade ago, so sightings are extremely rare today. Here's one that I found in a Northern California self-service yard. This one still had windshield paperwork indicating that it was an insurance-company auction car (probably totaled in a fender-bender that caused $200 worth of damage) and that it was a runner at the time it got junked. Such is the fate of 24-year-old economy cars in rough shape. The Shadow was a member of the many-branched K-Car family tree, and the Shadow America came with the same 2.2-liter straight-4 engine that powered millions of Caravans, Daytonas, New Yorkers, and Lasers. You got more torque than the competition, plus a driver's-side airbag instead of the maddening automatic seat belts found in other low-priced cars of 1992. Of course, the paint tended to peel off within a few years and the build quality of the Shadow was hit-or-miss, but these cars were way nicer to drive than, say, a Tercel EZ or Subaru Justy.
