Up for sale is a 1951 Dodge B3-F series flatbed dully truck.  This is NOT a show truck, but is a ton of fun and fully functional.

This truck is in decent original shape...a good survivor.  Original color appears to have been dark blue, but was painted orange/red at some point.  Paint is in poor shape...and looks like it may have been brushed on?

I was told it had been used at a local mandarin ranch for many years hauling cases of oranges during harvest.  The previous owner stated that within the last 2 years the truck received four new tires, a rebuilt carb, the brakes were gone through and the new flatbed undercarriage was constructed. I can't confirm this is true, but things all seem to be working and the tires are in good shape.  The new flatbed structure appears well done and measures 12 feet long by 7 1/2 feet wide.  I have done no mechanical work on this rig aside from new engine oil and trans/differential fluid.  Have driven it about 25 miles in the last year or so...always fires up and chugs down the road.  45 MPH is the max I've had it to...

Body is in OK shape...minor dents and dings. no major rust.  The driver door seam is splitting and the door check is broken so the door overextends when open and is dented because of this.  Minor rust on the floorboards...no rust through or major issues. Seat cover is newer and in good shape.  Glass is all there and in OK shape.  Headliner is falling down.

This is a 6 volt system that at some point in the past was converted from positive ground to negative ground.  fuel gage does not work, but all others (Speedo, odometer, voltmeter, temp) all seem to function properly.
Truck runs very smoothly, but need some tuning on the carb...bogs a bit w/o the choke partly opened while driving.  it has never overheated on me and does not really seem to leak any fluids to speak of.

many of the vent/air/heater pulls are frozen and would need some coaxing to get working.  Electric wipers do work.

My research shows the truck has the following:
236 cu in flat 6 developing 109 horsepower.  (Engine number: T3I4-9I47)
4 speed manual on the floor
GVW is 13500lbs

Comes with a clear California title and current California tags (just paid).  The VIN on the title matches a metal plate near the drivers side cowl/firewall in the engine bay.  The serial number on the removable data plate on the door jamb number does not match this VIN...but the data plate may not be original to the truck.

Please don't expect perfection or a vehicle with no quirks.  It really could use some tinkering to make sure all the systems are up to speed and in good shape.
If you are the winning bidder, please plan for appropriate transportation of the vehicle to your location before committing to bid.  This is a BIG truck and I would guess prices will be higher than normal.  It is likely not practical to drive this home unless you are very close to the Sacramento area.  Also, please note that this truck MUST be picked up within 2 weeks of a winning bid...no exceptions.  I have to move it out...

Full payment within 3 days of a winning bid via cash in person, Paypal or certified check.
Any questions please ask...I've tried to tell all that I know about this fun old truck.

Vehicle is also for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early.
Thanks for looking...

2016 Dodge Viper ACR racks up lap records

Thu, Nov 5 2015

With 645 horsepower and an adjustable spoiler nearly six feet wide, the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR would look at home on the runways of most any airport, air base, or aircraft carrier in the world. But it's not built for the runway. It's built for the race track. And it has positively mastered them one after another. In fact, the new Viper ACR has not only beat the lap times of its own predecessor as it set out to, but took the production-car lap record at 13 tracks across the country. The endeavor started out at the Inde Motorsport Ranch in Arizona, where development engineer Chris "The Wolf" Winkler set a lap time of 1:33.75 on the Configuration 4 track to beat every other street-legal vehicle to ever lap the circuit. Then it was off to Buttonwillow, the MotorSport Ranch (in Cresson, TX), Big Willow, VIR, Grattan, Pittsburg, GingerMan, the Motown Mile, Nelson Ledges, Waterford Hills, and Road Atlanta. And with the new American Club Racer, Dodge took the lap record at each and every one. The journey culminated just days ago at Laguna Seca, where track expert Randy Pobst climbed into the Viper ACR and set a lap time of 1:28.65. That's 5.27 seconds faster than the previous ACR's time, and 1.24 seconds faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder that held the record until now. The sum total is a bragging-rights sheet of lap records set at 13 tracks across these United States. And you don't have to take Dodge's word on that. The records have been certified by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), cementing the ACR's place in the record books. Nice work if you can get it, and you can scope it out in the video above and press release below. Dodge shows can-do attitude with grand Can'avan sculpture

Fri, 01 Nov 2013

There are lots of ways to celebrate an important birthday, and all of them are well deserved. You can throw a big party, buy yourself something nice, or - if you're the altruistic type - do something for others in need. The latter is how Chrysler has opted to mark the 30th anniversary of its Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country.
Together with hunger-advocacy organization Canstruction, the Chrysler Foundation has built a full-scale replica of the Grand Caravan out of 30,000 food cans in the square at the corner of Yonge and Dundas in Toronto, a ways down the highway from where the real vans are built in Windsor. The sculpture was built over the course of 10 hours by 30 volunteers and was displayed earlier this week.
Now the installation is being taken down, and the cans of food are being donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank, which will assemble them into 2,000 food baskets to be distributed to those in need through its network of 200 food banks across the Canadian metropolis. Check out a neat time-lapse video of the build and the press release below.

Dodge Charger Pursuit takes Tesla interior approach

Fri, Sep 11 2015

A police car's computer is just as integral to its duties as a set of lights and sirens. The popular approach for these systems is to grab something like a Panasonic Toughbook laptop, add a big, bulky tray to hold it, and use this inelegant setup for running plates and doing all the other things a cop needs to do while on the road. The downside, besides simple aesthetics, is that this arrangement robs the officer's shotgun-riding partner from legroom. Dodge, though, has come up with a far more elegant and functional solution. Taking a page out of Tesla and Volvo's book, Dodge has replaced the five-inch UConnect display and laptop mount in the Charger Pursuit police car with an enormous 12.1-inch, portrait-format touchscreen display. Called, UConnect 12.1, the new system doesn't do away with the old fashioned computer outright. Instead it moves the bulky unit to the trunk, where it can connect to the display via an ethernet cable. This is good for multiple reasons. First, there are no pricey installation or upfitting charges, like there are for most laptop carriages. Secondly, the plug-and-play nature of the new UConnect system won't require the department to buy new laptops. And third, there's no need to retrain officers, since the only thing that's really changing is the input. While the Charger Pursuit will continue to offer redundant audio and HVAC controls, the 12.1-inch display can, at the press of a "button" split to display Fiat Chrysler's familiar 8.4-inch display. Make one more tap on the screen, and the police-issue laptop can be managed through the full touchscreen. The touchscreen will also display a menu bar at the top of the page, which can easily be edited by officers. All it takes is a simple drag and drop from the application menu to the top of the display. According to Dodge, the touchscreen will even play nice when its operator is wearing gloves. "As America's high-performance police vehicle, Dodge Charger Pursuit is going big for 2016, offering a massive, Uconnect touchscreen system that streamlines a law enforcement officer's computer system with our easy-to-use Uconnect system – on an all-new laptop-sized 12.1-inch touchscreen display," said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge and SRT's president and CEO.
