Available for sale is my 1936 Dodge Brothers Pickup. I bought this truck back in 2007 from a friend in Kentucky. My friend drove the truck down to Florida to visit his Cousin, where I first saw it. I expressed an interest in it, so when he decided to sell it, he called me and I took a trailer up to Kentucky and purchased it. I had the intention of turning it into a nostalgia old style hotrod truck. I drove it a few times after I bought it and the engine ran really nice, but the brakes were marginal at best, and the front suspension needed some work, so I stored it away in my Daughters garage. While it was hibernating, I purchased a '56 Dodge 241 hemi motor and had it professionally rebuilt for the truck. Understand though, the hemi motor is not included in this sale, only the truck as it sits. The hemi motor is available, but at a considerable additional cost. I may be willing to negotiate a price on the whole package if interested. The truck is basically as I bought it, with the exception that I removed the door windows because they had cracks in the glass. My two Grandsons like to sit in the truck and pretend driving, and I didn't want them getting cut. I did purchase new window glass, and also a new power window setup for it, and will include that in the sale, but they have not been installed. There is a dent in the right of the cab top. It occurred before I bought the truck. My friend said he accidentally dropped his cordless drill from his house roof, and it hit the truck. The dent has good exposure from the inside, so it shouldn't be too hard to persuade it out with the right body tools. I really wanted to build this truck, but I got involved in another car I purchased, and have been concentrating on it since. The car is close to completion, but I don't think I have the energy anymore to take on this truck. The pictures I have included tell the story, but I will answer any questions you may have. I am confident with a little work the engine will fire up. It ran well the last time I drove it, so with a little cleaning up, an oil change and some fresh gas it should be good to go. This would be a real nice project  for someone with a little skill and patience. This truck has a clear fresh Florida Title.

It appears some questions by interested parties, and the associated answers haven't shown up at the bottom of the listing, so I will include additional information on the truck. The straight axle front end was replaced by a '79 Ford Ranchero front frame clip forward of the firewall. The rest of the frame is original. The front frame clip uses the Ranchero drum brakes as well. I'm not 100% sure, but it may very well be that the motor and transmission, and even the rear end all came from the same chopped up Ranchero. That being the case, apparently the last year of the 289 was 1968, and so the engine may be a 302. The transmission is a 3 spd auto, whatever was a common match for the engine. Drum brakes again on the rear. I believe 14" Crager Mags on the front, and 15's on the rear. My build was going to toss the frame and marry up with an S10 long bed frame which is within 2" of the original 114" wheel base. I have the frame. if the buyer wants it, he can take it when he comes for the truck. Understand, the truck is as I bought it. I didn't morph the frame or do the engine swap. If I think of anything else, I'll add the information. Any questions, just ask.

2014 Dodge Durango bows with eight-speed auto, updated looks [w/video]

Thu, 28 Mar 2013

Dodge has significantly updated its full-size Durango for the 2014 model year, giving the seven-passenger hauler a fresh look and a well-rounded boost of competitive features as it enters its fourth year in the showroom.
Cosmetically, it is hard to miss the revised front end with projector-beam headlamps and LED daytime running lamps, "floating" crosshair grille, a taller front bumper and a new lower fascia. The rear end of the facelifted Durango has been redesigned with the automaker's now-signature LED "racetrack" taillamps and resculpted rear fascia. All of the wheels are new too, with 18- and 20-inch options for each trim level with a variety of factory finishes.
Inside the cabin, buyers can select the automaker's latest Uconnect infotainment system with a full suite of infotainment features and connectivity accessed through an 8.4-inch touchscreen. Other optional goodies include a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seating and a Blu-Ray player capable of running unique programs on the twin individual rear monitors.

2015 Dodge Challenger looks fresh, still plenty retro [w/video]

Thu, 17 Apr 2014

It was the Ford Mustang that kicked off the retro-styled muscle car renaissance back in 2005, but it was the Dodge Challenger that served as the movement's poster child, with its unabashedly retro looks. Over the years, though, as the Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro were freshened and upgraded, the look of the big Dodge has remained largely consistent since its 2008 debut. For 2015, the Challenger has received a big freshening, boasting strongly revised front and rear ends and (finally, finally, finally) a redesigned interior.
Let's talk about that new cabin first. It's basically been plucked directly from the redesigned Charger, and boasts the same seven-inch IP display. The center stack's miserable, last-gen display has been replaced by an expansive, 8.4-inch UConnect system. Material quality should see a solid boost with the new cabin, as well.
The exterior, meanwhile, sees a revised front fascia with LED halo lights, as well as new grille inserts. A functional shaker hood scoop is a must-have extra on the V8 models, while the back of the car is highlighted by a new set of LED taillights that don't use the "Racetrack" design of Dodge's other models.

EV cost burden pushing automakers to their limits, says Stellantis' CEO Tavares

Wed, Dec 1 2021

DETROIT — Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said external pressure on automakers to quickly shift to electric vehicles potentially threatens jobs and vehicle quality as producers struggle with EVs' higher costs. Governments and investors want car manufacturers to speed up the transition to electric vehicles, but the costs are "beyond the limits" of what the auto industry can sustain, Tavares said in an interview at the Reuters Next conference released Wednesday. "What has been decided is to impose on the automotive industry electrification that brings 50% additional costs against a conventional vehicle," he said. "There is no way we can transfer 50% of additional costs to the final consumer because most parts of the middle class will not be able to pay." Automakers could charge higher prices and sell fewer cars, or accept lower profit margins, Tavares said. Those paths both lead to cutbacks. Union leaders in Europe and North America have warned tens of thousands of jobs could be lost. Automakers need time for testing and ensuring that new technology will work, Tavares said. Pushing to speed that process up "is just going to be counter productive. It will lead to quality problems. It will lead to all sorts of problems," he said. Tavares said Stellantis is aiming to avoid cuts by boosting productivity at a pace far faster than industry norm. "Over the next five years we have to digest 10% productivity a year ... in an industry which is used to delivering 2 to 3% productivity" improvement, he said. "The future will tell us who is going to be able to digest this, and who will fail," Tavares said. "We are putting the industry on the limits." Electric vehicle costs are expected to fall, and analysts project that battery electric vehicles and combustion vehicles could reach cost parity during the second half of this decade. Like other automakers that earn profits from combustion vehicles, Stellantis is under pressure from both establishment automakers such as GM, Ford, VW and Hyundai, as well as start-ups such as Tesla and Rivian. The latter electric vehicle companies are far smaller in terms of vehicle sales and employment. But investors have given Tesla and Rivian higher market valuations than the owner of the highly profitable Jeep and Ram brands. That investor pressure is compounded by government policies aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions. The European Union, California and other jurisdictions have set goals to end sales of combustion vehicles by 2035.
