1933 Dodge Pickup, Very Rare, Full Restoration, Suicide Doors, Chopped on 2040-cars
Newport Coast, California, United States
Every once in awhile a RARE truck comes on the market this1933 Dodge pickup truck is no exception and its waiting for the right owner near Orange County, CA This gorgeous pickup has lots of first class
work and parts. A chromed, 3 deuce
carburetor set atop a 327 Small Block Chevy creating approx 300HP that is
passed through a turbo 400 transmission. A 9-inch Ford rear end with 2.79 gears
plants the power to the street and gets you cruising. Handles excellent at 80MPH. The red leather interior features tuck and roll design on the bench seat and through the door panels, even behind the seat. A custom dash with contrasting baby moon gauges dominates the cockpit while the controls for the aftermarket heating unit reside below. The exterior stance has been modified, 2-inch
chopped top (notice it was done so the back window kept it's original size), design elements and trim parts such as the red grille with the
original Dodge Brothers badge, steel wire wheels, hubcaps, and rear roll pan
all help keep the traditional hot rod vibe despite the obvious high-end
professional finish throughout the entire truck. The truck does not boast power
steering but a new aftermarket steering box, the goal was to keep it a fancy rat rod / 50s style hot rod. Overall the truck drives and handles great (no play in the steering wheel) and the suspension feel is tight with plenty of stopping power. The tilt column is a new ididit and lokar floor shifter. The entire truck is steel and the body work
took over 7 months. No bondo and nothing but straight lines on all the door
jams/seams. 6 layers of clear coat later and the shine is memorizing. The front suspension features disc brakes and a dropped bell axle with leaf springs and shocks. The rear is leaf with shocks and drum brakes. This
truck is complete and rebuilt with love. This truck has been is insured for
$60,000. You can make a deal for $44,500. Comes with an extra set of custom offset new American racing 5-spoke (matte center with large chrome lip) wheels and tires. They are 2 inches larger than the current wire wheels @ 17"x7" rear with a deep dish chrome lip. This truck was purchased from the original
owner prior to being rebuilt, he was in his late eighties at the time - It has
quite a story. The old timer was a traveling salesman who made regular trips
from Seattle, Washington to New York City; he went through 4 engines on this
truck. When we asked him how many miles he thought were on it, he replied with
a straight face at least a million. A similar truck with a hemi sold for $62,500 - not a hard modification and brings instant equity. Serious inquiries only. We kept complete documentation on almost every part installed down to the spark plugs. Email: paul.c.simpson@me.com or call 949-244-2924 for additional information of to receive more pics. Dodge and Jeep recalling 895k SUVs for possibility of headliner fires
Fri, 11 Jul 2014Dodge and Jeep are announcing recalls of a total of 895,000 Durango and Grand Cherokee models worldwide from the 2011 through 2014 model years. There's a possibility that the wiring in the sun visor can short circuit and cause a fire. It specifically affects vehicles built between January 5, 2010, and December 11, 2013, and there are approximately 651,000 of them in the US, 45,700 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico and 175,000 outside of North America.
Screws that fasten the sunvisor to the headliner may pierce wires in the visor, if the part has been removed or serviced, potentially causing a fire risk. If the wires short circuit, they could overheat and potentially combust. The automakers report three injuries caused by this defect, and according to the investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "there may be a total of 52 unique fire incidents."
To fix the problem, Dodge and Jeep will inspect the vehicles for suspect wiring, and all of the models, whether damaged or not, will get a new sun visor spacer with a wire guide to stop the possibility of short circuits. According to the automakers' announcement, "this condition is not present in vehicles which have not had the headliner or vanity mirror serviced." They will notify affected owners, and repairs will begin in August.
Race Recap: Rolex 24 at Daytona was fast and feisty
Mon, Jan 26 2015Let the record show that victory at the 2015 Rolex 24 at Daytona went to the No. 02 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Target/Ford EcoBoost Riley DP driven by Verizon IndyCar drivers Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan and NASCAR drivers Jamie McMurray and Kyle Larson. The winner did 740 laps to cover 2,634.3 miles in 24 hours and 57.667 seconds. That's a statement to this year's pace in spite of 18 cautions, two more than last year: the Michael Shank Racing Ligier got pole with a time of 1:39.194, slower than last year's pole time of 1:38.270; however, the winning car last year only did 695 laps. The fight for top honors was shaved to a four-car battle over the first third of the event. The No. 02 Ganassi car took the lead on the first lap, swapping it well into the night with the No. 01 Ganassi car, the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP, and the defending champion No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP, all of them staying within about 20 seconds of one another. The Action Express car had a fuel connector come loose and lost three laps getting towed back to the pits to have it reattached, but was back in the lead 18 hours in. The No. 01 Ganassi car dropped out with recurring clutch problems 22 hours in, retiring not long after. A race-within-the-race is where the concluding action happened, a seven minute, 30-second dash from the end of the last caution to the checkered flag. During the penultimate pit stops with an hour to go, Dixon was in second place followed Jordan Taylor in the Wayne Taylor Racing DP into the pits but beat him out, taking the lead. The Action Express car was in third. In the last pit stops of the race, Dixon gained even more time, getting a four-second advantage over Taylor. Then a full-course caution came out twenty minutes before the finish when a Prototype Challenge car hit the wall and caught fire, bunching up the field. That closed the pits, but the Wayne Taylor Racing car had to pit during that yellow because of a miscalculation of driver time. No driver can be behind the wheel for more than four hours in a six-hour period but Jordan Taylor was going to go over, so he came in to swap out for brother Ricky. That cost the team any chance of second place, since they took an additional drive-through penalty for entering closed pits. When the track went green again, Sebastien Bourdais in the Action Express car stayed all over Dixon for the final five laps but couldn't get around him.
Leno recalls '90s showdown with Tim Allen and his mullet
Wed, Oct 7 2015Not many of us have buddies with garages full of classic cars, but that isn't the case for Jay Leno and Tim Allen. Of course, one of the advantages for two guys with such vast collections is occasionally getting to pit their cars against each other. The two comedians did just that in the mid-'90s with a burnout battle on The Tonight Show between Allen in a race-prepped Mustang and Leno in a drag racer. After some time away from regular television, Leno is returning to the airwaves with a Jay Leno's Garage series premiering on Oct. 7 (tonight) at 10:00 p.m. ET on CNBC. Let this clip serve as another taste of what to expect for the new TV show's mix of comedy and cars. After reminiscing about the old days in a gorgeous garage, the comedians get into two modern machines to reprise the classic challenge after a little trash talk anyway. Don't worry because the YouTube series isn't going anywhere, though.
