I've sold a few things on ebay, as you will see in my feedback, including whole vehicles.  I've only ever had one buyer unsatisfied, and that was because I refused to offer a refund AND let him keep the item.  Everybody else has been happy.  I aim to keep it that way.

This car is stock and unmodified.  It appears to have been used for nothing more than normal transportation.

The engine sounds good from the moment you start it, with no particular vibration or hesitation at any time.  The transmission makes no noises and goes into every gear easily.  These cars don't have a lot of do-dads, but everything it does have seems to work.  There are no codes stored or pending in the computer.  None of the warning lights are lit.  The air conditioning is cold.  I would put your odds of a successful cross-country trip in this car very high.

I will spend most of my time describing what is not perfect about the car:
1.  The hood has some damage near the front edge.  I have taken a closeup picture to illustrate.
2.  The windshield is cracked, and there is some rust near the edges of it.  It is what I would consider repairable, but to do it right you'll want to fix it while the glass is out.  Shown in pictures.
3.  Just ahead of the driver's side rear wheel there is some rust.  Again, repairable, but I'd rather let you see it and decide how to approach it, than just cover it up and pretend it isn't there.
4.  Although there is no evidence of a crash, the headlights have been replaced with aftermarket units.  Presumably the original ones became too opaque.  At least the new ones closely resemble stock.
5.  The clearcoat on the wheels is peeling.  Fortunately they are not particularly corroded.  Any amature could bring them back to perfect.
6.  The adjustable Koni struts that these cars are born with are still present in the back, but have been replaced up front with some of unknown pedigree.
7.  The original leather wrapped shift knob disintegrated, leaving a nice non-leather wrapped knob in it's place.

Chrysler recalling 49K Chargers for headlight components

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

Chrysler has issued a recall for about 49,375 2011 and 2012 Dodge Chargers with halogen headlamps due to a problem with the lights. The automaker says that there could be an issue with the jumper harness and other related components.
The automaker says that 43,450 cars are affected in the US, 2,850 in Canada, 375 in Mexico and 2,700 outside of North America. The vehicles will have their headlight assemblies, including the jumper harnesses and bulbs, inspected and potentially replaced. Dodge says that its engineers investigated reports of that were similar to what was found when it recalled about 10,000 police Chargers in 2012 for overheating light components. There have been no injuries or accidents related to fault, according to Chrysler.
The automaker will be in contact with affected owners, and schedule the service. Naturally, any repairs will be free of charge. Scroll down for the company's full announcement.

I sold my Viper, but the memories I'll keep

Thu, 30 May 2013

The following is written by auto industry veteran Tow Kowaleski. The words are his own, but the memories now belong to everyone thanks to his willingness to share. If you're an industry veteran with a story to share, contact us at tipsATautoblogDOTcom.
It became the flame that started the fire of belief in the next life of Chrysler.
I just sold a car. Nothing new. Millions do it every day. But my car was a 1995 Dodge Viper, so maybe it was a bit more unique since just 12,000 were built. And like others selling a car that's been a part of the family for close to 20 years, this was a confluence of emotions for me. I was sad to see it go, but happy to have the cash and one less big, shiny, under-utilized object in my life.

Has Dodge stepped in it again with Scat Pack lawsuit?

Mon, 20 Oct 2014

Lawsuits are an unfortunate part of doing business in just about any industry, so the latest complaint filed by a California-based aftermarket firm against Chrysler would seem to be nothing more than business as usual. But this isn't the first time the two companies have sparred over this particular issue.
According to a report from Automotive News, the dispute revolves around the Scat Pack name that Chrysler first offered on the Charger, Coronet, Dart and Super Bee starting in 1968. Scat Enterprises, a manufacturer of crankshafts and other components for Dodges and other vehicles, sued Chrysler for using its name. A few years later the Scat Pack disappeared from the Dodge catalog.
Fast forward to August 2013 when Chrysler applied to register the Scat Pack name anew. The US Patent and Trademark Office turned down Chrysler's application, but the automaker proceeded anyway, unveiling new Scat Packs for the Challenger, Charger and Dart at last year's SEMA show.
