1978 Dodge Magnum GT Coupe
Offered for sale, this very rare 1978 Dodge Magnum GT. A true GT, even though the side emblems show XE (they all started as XE's). The original fender flares, aluminum dash and other features were only found and installed on the GT model. This magnum looks a bit tired and frumpy, but overall is in fair/good shape. It is straight, solid and with no apparent body damage. The paint is tired and does not shine anymore, and is faded and deteriorated somewhat on the hood and trunk as well as the flares (the previous owner had the car in Texas). There are some rust issues - mostly surface discoloration - but there are a couple of small holes on the floor pans (behind the driver seat). The worst is on the underneath of the trunk lid near the edge at the bottom (doesn't look too nice). The t-tops are in great shape, so is the glass and the windshield. The bumpers are straight and shinny and are in good shape. All the trim, stainless and aluminum, etc. is in very good shape and is straight and does not show any damage. the rear lenses are in very nice condition and the front lenses are fair/good condition, they should/could be buffed up. The wheels are fair, but show some rust here and there (two of the original wheels are in the trunk along with the bumpers guards). The tires are so-so (show some slight dry rot and/or wear). The interior is in fair to good condition. The dash and instrument panel, steering wheel, etc. are in nice condition (there are a few small cracks on the dash pad). The door panels, hard vinyl panels, etc. are in fair to nice condition, and are all there. The seats are in fair to good shape except for the driver seat, which should either be repaired and/or reupholstered. A set of seat covers might be good enough. The carpet will need to be replaced (it was removed by the previous owner). The 360 V8 engine starts, runs and sounds as it should. The car does drive ok on short distance drives or while moving it around (I have not driven it for any distance or on the highway). The brakes feel rather soft. I would highly recommend that the car be shipped or trailered to its new destination. Overall this is a car well worth restoring, way too nice and complete to be used only as a parts car. The car is attractively priced with a low/reasonable reserve.
These B Body Magnums are truly a collector car since they were only manufactured for two years (1978 and 1979). I had purchased this GT because of its rarity and also as a spare for my other 1978 Dodge Magnum 2Dr Coupe XE which is in remarkable and excellent original condition with only 36,500 miles. This Magnum XE is also for sale as well as many extra parts (exterior trimwork, extra tail lights, interior hard vinyl panels and trim, etc., etc.) that I had aquired to have as replacement parts on hand for these rare cars. The Magnum XE and the extra parts are not a part of this aucton, but are available for purchase upon inquiry.
Please note this car will be sold on a Bill of Sale only. A $520 deposit is due immediately upon the end of the auction via PayPal with the remainder of the balance due via Bank Wire or cash in person upon pick up. The Buyer is responsible for all transportation arrangements and costs to their location. Car is sold as-is and sale is final. Thanks for looking!

Mopar maneuvers into SEMA with a multitude of modified models
Wed, 05 Nov 2014As the aftermarket and performance arm of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Mopar has a duty to extract everything from the company's models that it can, and there's no better place to show all of its work off than the annual SEMA Show.
Dodge really gets in on the act this year with several customs to show off different parts of the brand's performance heritage. Perhaps the most interesting among them is the track-prepped Viper ACR Concept (pictured above). It wears a custom body kit to produce even more downforce, thanks in no small part to a monstrous wing at the back. To shed weight, most of the interior is stripped out, as well. Next up, the Challenger T/A Concept takes inspiration from '70s Trans-Am racing in a livery of Sublime Green and matte black paint. The center scoop in the hood keeps the 6.4-liter V8 fed with cool air, and the special's 20-by-9.5-inch matte black wheels keep it planted in the corners.
Also getting the once-over from Mopar is the Charger R/T. It wears the division's body kit, and under the hood, a cold-air intake keeps the 5.7-liter V8 breathing. The suspension is retooled to hold the road better with a coil-over kit, upgraded sway bars and strut tower braces for the front and rear. The company is also showing off a snazzy blue Charger with a mean look. The final Dodge getting work from Mopar is the Dart R/T Concept with bright, O-So-Orange paint and a matte black hood with a scoop hooked directly to the air intake. The performance-oriented design is finished off with a coil-over suspension and big brake kit, as well.
Challenger A/T Unlimited Concept could be your next Hellcat-powered ORV
Fri, 29 Aug 2014This past June I spent an excellent day hanging out with Joey Ruiter, driving and discussing his Reboot Buggy project. Before heading home, I let him know that he was more than welcome to keep me abreast of whichever new automotive project he'd get into. You can never have too many car designers and one-off fabricators in your Rolodex, right?
Ruiter recently made good with the follow-up, emailing me with details on this Dodge Challenger A/T Untamed Concept that pushes a lot of hot buttons for the muscle car and off-roading enthusiasts.
This all-terrain Mopar is a lot more than a Challenger body dropped on a truck chassis, too. A materialized version of the A/T would included a completely new, long-travel suspension, skid plates, body armor and rock sliders, and obviously flared fenders to help accommodate a hellacious set of off-road-ready tires. The dramatically revised underpinnings would be topped with a slick graphics package and a killer lower light bar, all making the A/T look quite cohesive in its own, radical way. And the result would be a car no longer limited to mere road-driving.
Coal-rolling Ram dually does tandem beer-shooting burnout with ATV in bed
Fri, 25 Jul 2014Sometimes a video comes around that just makes you shake your head in disbelief. Take for example these guys from Nebraska in their dually diesel flatbed Ram, doing a smoky burnout. Lighting up the tires is nothing new, but these folks take things a step further by having another guy on an ATV in bed that is also smoking the tires. Finally, people are sitting on a couch in the bed taking the whole show in, as beer cans shoot out of the stacks.
There have been several stories recently about the scourge of rolling coal, i.e., diesel trucks modified to lay down a thick, black smoke screen, sometimes for vaguely political reasons. Whatever your opinion is on it, breathing in this much nasty stuff isn't exactly great for your health. Of course, it turns out that burning rubber is pretty awful, too. Both diesel and tire emissions contain cancer-causing Group 1 carcinogens. Combine them with the cigarette smoking here, and these guys are an oncologist's nightmare. Scroll down to take it all in for yourself. Warning, there is a little explicit language.
