Handicap Van with Wheelchair Ramp

Rear Entry     47,000 Miles

I have been a quadriplegic since 1986 and have a lot of experience buying and using handicap vans.
I can't afford to buy new handicap passenger vans at around $40k so I buy fairly late year models with
under 60,000 miles for best value. The most important are the things I've learned over the years. I only buy mini-vans because of the ease and speed of egress, no wait for lift to come down then up. Better line of sight from mini-vans and less ramp rattle. Be wary of kneeling rear ends since they use air bags and air compressors that are known to fail regularly. I have also learned to stay away from fully automatic remote door and ramp systems. When they fail, and they do very often, the greedy mobility dealer will charge you $800 plus [without telling you that all he did is adjust two little micro switches attached to the actuator at the door/ramp, my brother did the same fix in minutes with a screwdriver at no cost].
I only use manual equipped handicap vans and that is what I have for sale here. I bought this van nearly four years ago with thirty-five thousand miles on it. It's a rear entry van that can carry two chairs max, it is equipped with a Q-Straint ratcheting, retracting, movable tie-down system. The wheelchair sits between two seats behind the driver and front passenger. It runs great and the brakes, exhaust, tires, trans. and engine are all in great shape. The interior is perfect but for one small [1 inch] tear in the rear of the drive side, second row seat. The exterior is in great condition for a five year old vehicle. Look at all the pix. Very nice van overall.

After reviewing the AUTOcheck report, I found a glaring mistake in it. This van has only 46,840 original miles. When we took the van in to the ILL. Emissions for routine check in mid 2012, the tester punched in 83,000 instead of 43,000 [approximate mileage at that time]. I only noticed the mistake after arriving home and looking more closely at the Pass receipt given to us. We went back the very next day and were assured that they would fix the problem....obviously they did not. If they are open tomorrow, I'll be there.

South Dakota dealer filled to brim with classic cars

Wed, 12 Mar 2014

Other than the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and Mount Rushmore, South Dakota isn't generally a hot topic, but that just means that cool stuff can hide in the open waiting to be discovered. Case in point: the classic car dealer Frankman Motor Company that operates three locations in Sioux Falls, SD.
Unearthed by the folks at Bring a Trailer, Frankman is a treasure trove of vintage, American iron. Their collection is full of the type of vehicles your irresponsible but cool uncle would show up with when you were a kid. Even better, these cars are priced at a level a working man can afford.
If you are lusting about a cruiser then Frankman has a 1956 Cadillac Deville Hard Top Sedan (pictured right) with 82,896 miles for $12,975. It's painted a color called Cascade Grey, but looks more like a pastel purple in pictures. While it needs some repairs to the accessories, the Caddy runs and drives, which is all you really need.

Watch a Dodge Viper driver show off his V10 all the way into a wall

Mon, Apr 11 2016

Has there ever been a show-off video that doesn't end terribly? This video clip captured with a cellphone shows the driver of a neon green Viper GTS giving a fellow motorist a couple throttle blips to signify his intent – which seems to be to crash the Viper into a concrete wall as quickly as possible. It's not pretty. The mean machine seems to be a second-generation Viper GTS in Stryker Green. To our knowledge, no photos have surfaced of the aftermath, so we wish both the driver and their most-likely bruised ego a speedy recovery. Who knows, maybe the Viper is also salvageable.

Dodge recalls 2011-2016 Charger to give owners wheel chocks

Wed, Feb 3 2016

A bizarre new recall gives wheel chocks to Dodge Charger owners so that people remain safe while changing the sedan's wheels. The campaign covers 441,578 examples of the 2011-2016 Charger in the US; plus 19,229 in Canada; 4,969 in Mexico, and 38,947 outside the NAFTA region. According to Dodge's announcement, owners should use the chocks to stabilize the Charger when using a jack to change the wheels, like in the case of a flat tire. Without them it's possible for the sedan to fall off the jack. The company is aware of three minor hand injuries from this problem. Dodge will notify owners by mail when they can pick up the free wheel chocks. FCA US spokesperson Eric Mayne offered Autoblog a more detailed explanation about this recall. "The body structure of this vehicle is unique. If owner's manual instructions are not followed, slippage may occur. Chocks are being provided to help ensure the instructions are followed," he said. "We are continually analyzing warranty data to identify ways to improve the ownership experience. When tire-jack data was reviewed, we identified a need to further assist our customers." Statement: Wheel Chocks February 3, 2016 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is conducting a voluntary safety recall to supply wheel chocks for an estimated 441,578 full-size sedans in the U.S. The chocks are for use, as instructed in the vehicle's owner's manual, when employing a tire jack to change wheels. When positioned diagonally opposite to the wheel being changed, the chocks will help stabilize the vehicle. Failure to follow the manual's instructions with an affected vehicle may cause the vehicle to come off the tire jack. FCA US is aware of three related injuries – all minor. The recall is limited to 2011-2016 Dodge Chargers. Also affected by the campaign are an estimated 19,229 cars in Canada; 4,969 in Mexico and 38,947 outside the NAFTA region. Recall notices will advise affected customers when they may obtain their wheel chocks, which will be supplied free of charge. Customers with questions or concerns may call the FCA US Customer Care Center at 1-800-853-1403.
