Mopar Dodge A-body Dart Demon Duster Valiant on 2040-cars
Dallas, Texas, United States
|
Up for sale is a 1974 Dodge Dart Sport custom. It has the more desirable "71 front end of a Demon and a Demon interior. I has been in the Hot Rod Power Tour and has a strong engine that does not smoke at all, Offenhauser intake, Edlebrock carb, small cam around 268 and 15/8 headers. Scoop looks original. It has a rebuilt trans with a new torque converter. I spent several years having all the wiring restored so that all the factory gauges work, lights, signals, etc. IT HAS A WORKING AND CORRECT GAS GAUGE! Don't see that often. Passes inspection no problem. Replumbed exhaust and new mufflers. I recently replaced the steering column to a floor shift model and put the original steering wheel back in. The shifter is a ratchet Hurst model. This is a non a/c car and the heater core is bypassed. The paint buffs out to a shine but there are scratches and blemishes. An extensive and expensive and documented rebuilding of the front end was done several years ago. I have extensive parts receipts and all repair receipts since I have owned the car and can be provided to look at. The 1974 Texas plates do not go with the car. The drivers seat shows upholstery wear along with the bottom of the drivers door panel. I will try to put it on the lift and upload some pictures of underneath this weekend. Please send pic requests. I will tweak the ad more this weekend as well.
Included with the car is; The ACC carpet kit black in color that is for this car. Never opened. A set of four POWDERCOATED Dodge wheels never installed with center caps A replacement metal dash. I was going to restore the radio to a two knob as original and it was easier for me than re-welding the din radio cutout. Dodge Mopar valve covers which will most likely be installed this weekend. Better examples of the gauge cluster trim and glove box I planned to install with the new dash. Flywheel inspection plate Tach and Sunpro gauges removed when I bought the car Wiper seal rebuild kit New dashpad cover Extra 1972 Dodge Y steering wheel and rally race steering wheel it came with when I bought the car. This car has had extensive mechanical and electrical repairs to make ready for paint which was my next step. I recently ended up with two more project cars one of which my daughter wants to put together daddy daughter style. This car would not be finished for two to three more years and I do not want it to sit that long. I would not say it is a project because most of it has already been done. It is always a head turner and popular in all of the show and shines. Please contact me through Ebay for more questions or phone contact for those that have more in depth questions. I would like to answer any and all questions so not to waste either of our time. No trades. Cash only. Car up for sale locally and reserve right to terminate auction. Do not need help selling vehicle and no solicitation of other offers. Pick up locally. |

Dodge Viper returning to Le Mans this year?
Mon, Jan 5 2015If you were among the fans disappointed by Chrysler's recent decision to end the Dodge Viper's racing program, we may have some good news for you, as the racing outfit behind the campaign is reportedly working to bring the American supercars back to Le Mans this year. That racing outfit is Riley Technologies, a constructor perhaps best known for its Daytona Prototypes, but it has also prepared its share of GT racers, too. Chrysler charged Riley with leading its racing program for the new Viper GTS-R, campaigned it in the United SportsCar Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Auburn Hills made the unfortunate decision back in March to pull its Vipers out of Le Mans, and then in October to withdraw from the US series, as well, thereby effectively ending the program altogether. Disappointed though it surely was, Riley remains defiant. The North Carolina-based company is planning on taking the existing Vipers back to Le Mans on its own, with or without factory support. The Viper has, after all, proven a capable machine, having taken both the drivers' and teams' titles in the United SportsCar Championship this past season. "With Le Mans, every driver and every manufacturer needs to have their first trip there, and it isn't always what you want it to be, but we did show reliability and did have some pace," Bill Riley told Racer.com. "Since then, we've worked hard on the cars, they're now strong, front-running cars in the US, and we're working with the ACO on the BoP to make sure the cars are strong at Le Mans. They're super-reliable and fast, and we'd expect to be right in the mix with the other cars." Riley has kept the existing support staff in place, and once it secures its driver lineup and sponsors, chances look good that it could represent America well at Le Mans this year in either the GTE Pro or GTE Am class. Its predecessor did, after all, complete a three-year winning streak that saw it dominate the GTS class right up until its withdrawal in 2000. 2015 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak previewed
Fri, 29 Aug 2014Dodge and Mopar have never strayed far from success in drag racing, be it on run-what-you-brung nights at the local strip or at the highest levels of the sport. Hoping to both add to that heritage and capitalize on some of the media spotlight that's shown so brightly on the brand of late, Dodge has given us our first look at the 2015 Mopar Challenger Drag Pak test car.
Though this first iteration doesn't make use of the 707-horsepower Hellcat engine, it seems to be a pretty formidable racing package. Starting with a stock '15 Challenger, Mopar adds a full roll cage built to National Hot Rod Association specs. Rubber front and back is drag racing-ready as well, with 28x4.5-inch tires in the front, and fat 30x9-inch tires out back - all from Hoosier.
Powering the beast is a massive 426-cubic-inch (7.0-liter) Hemi Race V8, with output levels that are still unspecified. A Chrysler 727 automatic transmission connects up to a racing style shift lever, with integral line lock.
Barracuda's Dodge branding no biggie, but what about engines?
Thu, Aug 27 2015Rumors about a revival of the Barracuda nameplate have been circulating for years now, though which brand it might fall under has been a bit of a mystery. Initial speculation had the car labeled an SRT product, but that acronym has since returned to its former role as a sub-brand for top-performance Mopars. Thanks to leaks from a recent FCA dealership event, we know the Barracuda is back on the table but will be sold under the Dodge umbrella, a move that has been generating a bit of ire from Pentastar fanatics, as the car was originally part of the defunct Plymouth brand. Given what's known about the new model, however, the badge is the least of my concerns about the new car. Let's start with the re-branding itself. This isn't the first time Chrysler has shuffled models around to different brands. The current-generation Viper spent two years as the flagship model under the SRT banner, only to return to Dodge for 2015 when SRT resumed its former role as a sub-brand. Years ago, the Neon was sold as a Plymouth, a Dodge, and a Chrysler model, depending on where you shopped for one. When Plymouth ceased to exist, the last few years of Prowler production got Chrysler badges instead. Then there's the new Jeep Renegade, a model whose name was born out of a trim level. The Barracuda might not turn out to be a muscle car in the way we currently define them. Further examples of naming liberties taken throughout automotive history could fill a book, but suffice it to say that these days a model's name has very little to do with the vehicle itself or any legacy it might have. The Barracuda name might be a particularly sacred cow with enthusiasts, but to me, a much bigger concern is the fact that the car might not turn out to be a muscle car in the way we currently define them. News from the Fiat Chrysler dealer briefing earlier this week indicates that when the next Charger debuts it will share its platform with the Barracuda, much the way the Charger and Challenger are twinned now. One difference is that the Barracuda is tipped to be offered as a convertible, while the modern Challenger is tintop-only. The Charger and Barracuda will use the rear-drive platform developed for Alfa Romeo's new Giulia, itself designed as a BMW M3 fighter both from a dimensional and dynamic standpoint; the Barracuda is expected to be slightly smaller than the current Challenger.
