Built by the famous Barry White and crew of Barry's Speed Shop SRRC in Corona, CA and
Ron Jenkins of Magnumforce Race Car Fabrication who are both very well known for quality craftsmanship.
During the build, Rikki Rockett of the 80's rock band "Poison" autographed the center console and the name Poison Dart was born.

Barry started the transformation with a discarded 1969 Dart from Nevada with a solid, rust-free body that was stripped, blocked and painted a beautiful House of Kolor "molly orange" with a matte black hood/scoop and trunk stripe. Barry called on Ron Jenkins to personally install one of his custom designed tubular a-body k-member, front shock perch braces and sub frame connectors before installing a Mopar Performance 472ci modern day HEMI under the hood.

Sold by Barry's Speed Shop at the Russo and Steele auto auction to the sole owner since the build whom I purchased it from last year. In addition to the auction price, the previous owner spent an additional $14k by upgrading many of the off-the-shelf parts such as the exhaust with a fully hand welded work of art which included custom welded jet-hot coated headers, 3" custom welded stainless pipes with Magnaflow x-pipe and polished mufflers which not only looks awesome but sounds grrrreat and tucked up very nicely. He also added a much appreciated Gear Vendors Overdrive unit for effortless highway travel, cleaned up all the wiring, added subtle but necessary exterior touches and finally a set of Mooneyes tach, oil, volts and temp gauges.

Since I've owned it, I spent many hours and approximately $7,500 perfecting an already close to perfect build. Most notably, the stock 727 torqueflight and B&M street converter were not up to the task. I chose Pat Barrett of Level 10 performance transmissions to custom rebuild the 727 to a "bullet-proof" 900hp capable unit with a brand new 9" billet 3,200 stall converter and properly timed solenoids that always choose the perfect gear.

Last but not least, I'm very particular about a clean and crisp throttle response so I contacted Hemi Specialist, John Arruzza who jetted and flowed a brand new pair of Edelbrock Thunder Series AVS 650cfm carbs specifically for my application as well as a fully blueprinted distributor. The end result is a crisp throttle response and excellent light to heavy throttle transition that's smooth and precise.

All this labor and attention to detail translates to a truly "turn key" custom built “Super Muscle Car” with all the top of the line parts, modern day comforts and the high quality fit and finish one expects from a “one off” custom muscle machine of this caliber and price point forever immortalized on film!

I have numerous magazines that feature the Poison Dart as well as the original framed hand drawn rendering with the autographs of all those involved in the build, a personal DVD of the build as well as a vender presentation sign for car shows that goes with the sale.

I personally have over $60k invested in the Dart to get it to this point so please no $20k low ballers.

Mopar '13 Dart will roll into Chicago next week

We think this officially counts as a tradition. Every year going back to 2010, Mopar has rolled out a limited edition version of a popular product from the Chrysler Group portfolio. First it was the Mopar '10 Challenger, then the Mopar '11 Charger, then last year's Mopar '12 300, and this year it will be the Mopar '13 Dart, which will make its official world debut next week at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show.
Limited in number to just 500 units, the Mopar '13 Dart is no mere appearance package, though the demeanor of the Dart will be murdered out with a gloss black finish, gloss black 18-inch wheels, a set of Mopar blue stripes and a mean-looking Mopar ground effects kit. Likewise, the interior is touched up with leather seats (a blue one for the driver and black hides for the passengers), gloss black and black chrome trim, blue accent stitching, a sport pedal kit and other Mopar interior accessories.
Turning our attention back to the mechanical bits, the Mopar '13 Dart comes with the car's most powerful engine, a turbocharged 1.4-liter MultiAir four (shared with Fiat 500 Abarth) that's paired with a manual transmission. Those big, black wheels get wrapped in low profile 225/40R18 performance tires, and keeping everything in check is an upgraded brake kit with slotted rotors. The steering has also been calibrated for performance, the suspension lowered seven millimeters, and the exhaust tuned for better engine breathing.

2014 Challenger R/T Shaker, Mopar '14 Challenger bring back iconic hood

Enamored of the Dodge Challenger but wish you could get one with a shaker hood? We've got good news, because Dodge and Mopar have teamed up to bring it back.
The 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker packs the same 5.7-liter Hemi V8 as the standard Challenger R/T, but upgrades the business end with a through-the-hood exposed cold-air intake system. The retro hood scoop protrudes from the center of the hood in satin black (matching the decklid spoiler) to feed the Hemi and shakes with the engine just like the original from 1970. The Shaker model also comes with a Super Track Pak that adds a new steering rack, brake linings, shocks and 20-inch Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car rubber. You can also shut off the stability management system completely in this car. A series of interior and exterior trim enhancements round out the look. The whole package adds $2,500 to the price of a Challenger R/T Classic for an all-in MSRP of $36,995.
In case that's not enough, Dodge is also offering a limited-edition Mopar Challenger that follows the 2010 Mopar Challenger, 2011 Mopar Charger, 2012 Mopar 300 and 2013 Mopar Dart. Limited to just 100 examples, the 2014 Mopar Challenger gets the same Shaker hood intake, unique graphics and wheels, an enhanced interior and a long list of optional extras from the Mopar parts catalog. Dodge isn't saying just yet how much the Mopar Challenger will cost, but you can bet it will command a considerable premium for the exclusivity alone.

Auto sales in March and first quarter down nearly across the board

Nearly every major automaker reported weak U.S. sales for March and the first quarter of 2019, citing a rough start to the year, but said a robust economy and strong labor market should encourage consumers to buy more vehicles as 2019 rolls on. GM, which no longer releases monthly sales figures, saw first-quarter sales fall 7 percent, with declines across all brands. Sales of Silverado pickup trucks fell nearly 16 percent and the high-margin Chevy Suburban large SUV dropped 25 percent. Ford also no longer releases monthly sales numbers, but is due to release its first-quarter sales figures on Thursday. According to industry data, Ford's sales fell 2 percent in the quarter and 5 percent in March. Ford representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. FCA reported a 7 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and a 3 percent drop for the first quarter. All of FCA's brands dropped in March, except for Ram, which saw a 15 percent increase in pickup truck sales. "The industry had a tough first quarter, but with spring finally starting to show its face and continued strong economic indicators ... we are confident that new vehicle sales demand will strengthen going forward," FCA's U.S. head of sales, Reid Bigland, said in a statement. Toyota reported a 3.5 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and 5 percent for the first quarter, hurt by declining demand for its Corolla sedans and Camry vehicles. "While some of our competitors are abandoning sedans, we remain optimistic about the future of the segment," Toyota said in a statement. Nissan posted a 5.3 percent drop in sales in March, and its first-quarter sales were down 11.6 percent. Honda and Hyundai bucked the trend. Honda's U.S. sales rose 4.3 percent in March and 2 percent in the quarter, while Hyundai's were up 1.7 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively. Passenger-car sales suffered throughout the January-March quarter compared with the same period in 2018 as Americans continued to abandon them in favor of larger, more comfortable pickup trucks and SUVs, which are far more profitable for automakers. The battle for market share in the particularly lucrative large-pickup truck market intensified in the quarter, as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Ram brand outsold the U.S.' No. 1 automaker General Motors' Chevrolet-brand trucks. The two automakers have both launched redesigned pickup trucks.
