For sale is my 1973 Brown / White Dodge Dart Swinger. I'm sad to have
to part with her after shipping her up from Texas, but I'm just not in
town enough to do her justice. I'm really hoping this car can go into
some good hands and maybe even get turned into a racer.
Purchased in the beginning of 2011 in San Antonio, TX. 1 previous owner in Southern California. The car is clean with no rust wear on the bottom. Starts and runs great! 43k on odometer reading. Driven less than 2k miles since purchasing in 2008, but driven weekly and well maintained. The color is absolutely amazing and the the white racing stripe is a nice touch! Here are some of the general specs : 318 V8 (Runs great!) Automatic Transmission Rebuilt (recently) 2 Carb AC / Heat works great Recent overhaul of engine / tune up / etc. CD Player but also still has the original AM / FM stereo console that can easily be hooked up by taking off the dash. Horn is located to the side of steering wheel. Overall the car is in good condition with a few minor things (paint chips, etc - see picture) here and there that come with a vehicle being over 40 years old. There are a few minor tears in the seams of the upholstery. The front dash could be updated and I have one that I recently purchased that I'll include. Above driving in town, I have not taken this car on any long distance trips and treated it as a weekend warrior ONLY. It has been well maintained and is currently in good condition. With that being said, this sale is as is. LOCAL PICKUP ONLY desired, but will ship if buyer sets up arrangement with shipping company. |

This SEMA special drag race is absurdly awesome
Fri, Dec 5 2014The SEMA Show came and went last month, and it showed us a ton of heavily modded goodies to dream about during the long, cold winter. The Motor Trend Channel on YouTube is keeping the party rolling a little longer, though, with a drag race inspired by the aftermarket event. All of the hosts were supposed to borrow a vehicle from the show for the big race, but only two of them actually cajoled companies into lending their wares. Still, the result includes four very cool and extremely different examples of the breadth of the automotive hobby. First up, there's a 1955 Chevrolet with a 535-cubic-inch (8.8-liter) Hemi V8 stuffed under the hood. Appropriately, it's dubbed the Blasphemi, and with skinny tires up front, fat rubber in the rear and a stripped interior, this this is made to go very fast in a straight line. Next, there's a stock Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat boasting 707 horsepower. Plus, host Jessi Lang has her dog riding shotgun for the race. A Chevy Sonic RS with some body mods, downpipe and intake is also competing. Finally, the most bizarre of the quartet is a custom 1958 Jeep Forward Control with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and treads to replace the wheels. Obviously, the Blasphemi and Hellcat are the only two that really have a chance of winning, but check out the video to see which one crosses the finish line first. Dodge Viper to out-Hell the Hellcat with supercharged V10?
Wed, 20 Aug 2014The Viper wouldn't be the Viper if it wasn't the most powerful model under the Chrysler umbrella. But with the arrival of the Hellcat engine in the Dodge Charger and Challenger, the Viper has fallen behind in the bragging rights department: where the new supercharged V8 produces 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated V10 offers "only" 640 hp and 600 lb-ft - gargantuan output figures by almost any other standard, but crucially behind on the SRT power scale. Conner Avenue is going to have to do something about that.
Although the Hellcat's engine reportedly won't fit under the Viper's hood, SRT is now rumored to have another trick up its sleeve: supercharge the existing V10. According to the Pentastar performance enthusiasts at allpar.com, Chrysler has already taken delivery of the first such prototype engines so that it can begin the process of fitting it into an upgraded Viper.
The spooled ten-pot is tipped to produce around 800 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. More than that and the Viper's drivetrain, chassis and bodywork would have to be substantially reworked. Though beefier transmissions are available, fitting them would reportedly set off a domino-game of changes required to handle the added torque. Which may be something Chrysler would be prepared to do for the next-generation model, but in the meantime, 800 hp could prove enough to put the Viper back atop the Mopar performance ladder where it belongs, and give it an edge against the new Corvette Z06 to rekindle sales.
Dodge to sell off first Challenger SRT Hellcat for charity
Sun, 27 Jul 2014
Want to get your hands on a new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, and can't wait to be the first to get one? Las Vegas will be the place to be on September 27. That's where Barrett-Jackson will auction off the very first example. And you'd better bring your checkbook, because the bidding is sure to be fierce with all the proceeds going to charity.
The supercharged Challenger with VIN 0001 has been hand-painted in Stryker Red (usually reserved for the Viper) and features special badging, documentation and accompanying memorabilia - not to mention, of course, that 707-horsepower, 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8. The car will be on display this weekend as well at Barrett-Jackson's Hot August Nights auction in Reno.
