For sale is a 1972 Plymouth Scamp
History: I purchased the Scamp from the original owner about 3 years ago. The Scamp is a California car and had not been driven or registered since 1998. The Scamp had about 96,000 miles on the odometer. The Scamp was born with a 318, 3 speed auto (904) transmission, B3 blue exterior, B5 blue interior, white vinyl top and air conditioning. You can view the last photo for the vin/fender tag which has been decoded. Exterior: The Scamp had no rust and had a crappy respray of the original color. The body had a few dents which were pulled out. The body was taken down to either bare medal or to the original paint and it was primed with metal lock primer. I didn't care for the light B3 blue color so I decided to paint the Scamp the darker B5 blue. The Scamp was painted with PPG brand paint with several coats and several coats of clear coat. The doors, trunk lid, fenders and hood were all taken off and painted separately. The paint job looks great and has a nice shine to it. There was a lot of time and money spent on the paint job. The engine bay, trunk and underneath the Scamp were all painted gloss black. The chrome is all original and looks pretty good. A new vinyl black top and front windshield was installed. The rest of the glass is original and looks pretty good. All new weatherstripping and front/rear glass seals. Interior: The front seats, rear seats, door panels and gauge cluster are all original and are in great shape. Almost everything else inside the Scamp is new and was purchased from either classic industries or year one. The interior metal was also sprayed with same paint as the body. The original radio works but is not hooked up. There is a sony cd player mounted under the air conditioning vents and there are two speakers in the back and one up front. Engine: The drive train is all original. The engine was completely rebuilt about 2 years ago. The engine also got all new components, new Edelbrock performer intake and 4 barrel carb. There is easily 5k spent under the hood. The transmission was taken to Mr. Transmission. The transmission looked great and just needed new seals and gaskets, so it wasn't rebuilt. A new set of Flowmasters were added. The Scamp runs and sounds great. I did not put the air conditioning unit on the car, I didn't like how it looked. I still have everything so if you wanted to reinstall it you could. Wheels: The rims are new Show wheel Streeters 17x7 with new 225x45x17 Falken times. I also have the mopar rallye style rims with new Goodyear tires if you rather have them instead, your choice. Everything works on the Scamp as it should except for the heater. Since I took the Air conditioning unit off, I didn't hook the controls back up so therefore I didn't hook up the heater either. I did hook the heater fan to the map light toggle switch, so there is a heater but it doesn't turn on using the proper controls. Since the restoration, I have probably put about 3k miles on it. I usually drive it at least once a week and the furthest I have driven it was to Hot August Nights in Reno which is about a 4 hour round trip. The Scamp ran great and you could drive it anywhere. I have the fender and rocker panel chrome. I didn't put it on, I like how it looks without it better. I also have the original steering wheel as well. Feel free to ask anything about the Scamp, I'm sure there is something I forgot to mention. I also have receipts for just about everything. |

Dodge recalls 27k Darts for bracket that can disrupt transmission module
Thu, Sep 17 2015Dodge is recalling 27,520 examples of the 2013-2015 Dart with dual-clutch gearboxes. The mounting bracket for the transmission control module can affect the part's operation and cause the compacts to suddenly shift into neutral. According to the automaker, 23,688 of them are in the US, 3,376 in Canada, 5 in Mexico, and 451 elsewhere. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports these examples carry build dates between February 24, 2012, and June 16, 2015. There are also no reports of accidents or injuries. Because of the way the bracket is mounted, the part can put too much force on the control module's circuit board and cause it to shift out of gear. The engine and airbags remain operable if this happens. To fix things, dealers will install a redesigned mount and replacement module. Related Video: Statement: Mounting Bracket September 14, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is recalling an estimated 23,688 cars in the U.S. to replace certain control modules and mounting brackets that may contribute to a loss of motive power. The Company is unaware of any related injuries or accidents. An FCA US investigation prompted by a small number of warranty claims discovered a control-module mounting bracket may apply too much force and disrupt the function of a circuit board within the module. This condition, unique to certain cars equipped with dual dry-clutch transmissions (DDCT), may cause the transmission to shift into neutral. However, the engine remains on and the vehicle's air-bags, as well as other safety features, are unaffected. The condition may also be preceded by the illumination of a dashboard warning light. Customers who observe this are urged to contact their dealers. The campaign is limited to certain 2013-2015 Dodge Darts equipped with DDCTs. Additional vehicles will be recalled in Canada (3,376), Mexico (five) and outside the NAFTA region (451). Affected customers will be advised when they may schedule service, which will be performed free of charge. Service will entail installation of a redesigned mounting bracket and replacement of the control module. Customers with additional questions may call the FCA US Customer Information Center at 1-800-853-1403.
2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat
Wed, 29 Oct 2014Including all-wheel-drive models, there are ten versions of the 2015 Dodge Charger. The tenth variant - better described as the ten-tenths variant and the topmost model - is this Charger SRT Hellcat.
Superficially, you already know what it is: take the massively powerful Hellcat engine that's Frankensteined into the Dodge Challenger and stitch it into the recently facelifted Charger sedan.
Oh, but that would be superficial knowledge indeed. Russ Ruedisueli, vehicle line executive and head engineer for SRT, claims the Charger Hellcat is, "The industry's most irreverent four-door supercar." We looked up the word "irreverent" in the Oxford dictionaries, and it turns out the word doesn't mean "707 horsepower," nor "650 pound-feet of torque" nor "3.7-second 0-60 time, and seats five adults." It does mean, "Showing a lack of respect for people or things that are generally taken seriously."
Chrysler readying 20 Moparized vehicles for SEMA
Tue, 08 Oct 2013The Las Vegas Convention Center has plenty of space for aftermarket companies and automakers to show off their wares, and it looks like Chrysler is taking advantage of the spacious floor plan. At next month's SEMA Show, Chrysler will have a full 20 cars from its six brands decked out with Mopar gear.
As a hint of what is to come, Chrysler released a handful of teaser sketches showing glimpses of modified Jeep Cherokee, Ram 1500, Fiat 500L and Chrysler 300 concept vehicles. The automaker will also use the venue to show off a new line of Jeep Performance Parts offered by the all-new Mopar Off-Road Division. In addition to the images, Chrysler also issued a brief press release - posted below - breaking down some of the "industry-first features" that Mopar has offered in recent years.
