1972 Dodge Demon on 2040-cars

I recently took this 1972 Dodge Demon in on a trade. I really don't have the room for it and it needs to be driven and appreciated by a serious Mopar freak not some Chevy guy. The car is very solid and virtually rust free. There is one little spot of rust inside the drivers side door jam. It is not structural at all and patch panels are available for about $60 if you would like to repair it. The engine is a very healthy 318. I'm not sure of the cam specs but is fairly long in duration and has quite a lope to it. Sounds great. The trans is the 727 auto and the rear end is an 8.75" equipped with a spool. Reverse manual valve body with ratchet shifter. Large tach mounted on the dash but not yet hooked up. Oil pressure and water temp gauges are mounted outside near the hood. The car is equipped with a padded 8 point roll cage and bucket seats. All of the demon badges and a whole bunch of trim is included in the trunk of the car. The interior is in decent condition for a vehicle of this age. It was used by the previous owners son as a daily driver. Very reliable. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Dodge idles Viper production again at Conner Avenue
Mon, 07 Jul 2014You've got to hand it to Dodge for having the gumption to put the original Viper into production in the first place. It was, after all, much more of an emotional decision than a practical one, and a move which saw the first production V10 engine placed in a road car - long before the advent of the Lamborghini Gallardo, Audi R8, Porsche Carrera GT or Lexus LFA, not to mention the other Ford, BMW and Volkswagen Group models that used such engines.
It's now been 22 years since the first Viper entered production and the Viper still rolls on several generations later, but we're sad to say that courageous decision has not always been met with overwhelming sales success. In fact parent Chrysler was forced to idle the Conner Avenue plant where the Viper is made back in April due to slow sales. And while production resumed again as planned on June 23, it apparently didn't do the trick.
As a result, Chrysler corporate communications chief Shawn Morgan revealed to Autoblog that the assembly line has been shut down again for another two weeks. The line was up and running for nearly two full work weeks from June 23 until the holiday weekend that started on Thursday, July 3. But instead of coming back online today as planned, it's been idled again for the weeks of July 7 and 14. That means it will be July 21, at the earliest, before the serpentine supercars start slithering down the assembly line at Conner Avenue again. Once it does, however, production is set to resume at the same pace it was before the shutdown.

I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.
Dodge, Hyundai crowdsourced-funding sites deemed successes

This idea, after all, has given us Kickstarter as well Local Motors, but automakers are starting to use the social platform to sell more cars (or just drum up a little PR). Both Dodge and Hyundai have used "crowd-funding" recently, and while Automotive News is reporting that neither has racked up big sales with this gimmick, both automakers are pleased with the attention.
For Hyundai, it teamed up with website Motozuma.com to help customers crowdsource money for a down payment, and the automaker matched this amount up to $500. Last year, this helped Hyundai sell an extra 1,600 units, a fraction of its total 2012 sales. That figure is far larger than Dodge fared with the Dodge Dart Registry - it netted only two sales and a small number of individual options. This registry did help University of Southern California fraternity crowdsource $18,000 to buy a Dart for a local Meals on Wheels, however. Despite the low sales figures, Dodge and Hyundai are considering their crowdsourcing programs a success since it helped them connect with younger buyers.
