1964 Dodge Dart 270 3.7l on 2040-cars
West Linn, Oregon, United States
Mechanical:
Starts right up and runs and drives good. Plenty of power with this inline six. No oil leaks from this car on my driveway. The only issue is a minor manifold vacuum leak which once the manifold gasket is replaced will help it idle a bit smoother. We take this car to shows without any issues at all. Just don't have time or really the need to replace the gasket at this time. Just purchased new tires and had the brakes done. Front suspension redone with new bushings and it steers great. The gauges all work. It also has a retro police siren and CB on the dash which is pretty cool and functional. The radio does not work but it is in the dash. There is a modern stereo in the glove box which lights up but also does not work and I'm not sure why. Paint and Body: Original paint on this car. It's a Triple Black paint code is "BBBW" ( Black upper body, Black lower Body, Black Interior, White stripe). This is a rare and really favored paint code. There is minor damage to the left front fender as seen in the pictures and there is minor rust in the rear quarters at the wheel wells as seen in the pictures. No rust goes thru and overall the condition is excellent with no major rust issues. Push button transmission works without any issues. Interior: All original interior. Seat covers over the front buckets and some tape on the back seats. But you still can see the Dart logo on the seats. Trying to keep it as original as possible. Overall this car is unmolested and all original minus the retro siren and the radio mounted in the glove box. We take this car to car shows all the time and we were planing on keeping it, but now to raise some cash for a property we just purchased. |

NHTSA closes investigation on 4.7M FCA power modules, no recall
Thu, Jul 30 2015FCA US hasn't had the best time with recalls as of late. Not only did the company recently agree to greater safety oversight and paid $105 million to the government, that came just days after hacking fears prompted a 1.4-million model recall campaign. However, a recent decision to close an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration means that the automaker doesn't have to worry about another major recall possibly affecting 4.7 million vehicles, according to the agency's report (as a PDF). Last September, the Center for Auto Safety petitioned NHTSA to investigate an alleged problem with the totally integrated power module (TIPM) on these FCA US models. The group claimed that a fault with the component could cause a variety of maladies, including stalls, not starting, catching fire, unintended acceleration, and airbag non-deployment. At the time, it also submitted 70 cases where this had reportedly happened. According to NHTSA, "no valid evidence was presented in support of claims related to airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration, or fire resulting from TIPM faults and these claims were found to be wholly without merit based on review of the field data and design of the relevant systems and components." The agency did find signs of an issue with the fuel pump relay in some Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Durangos, but FCA US issued recalls for the problem in September 2014 and February 2015. Without anything else to go on, the Feds don't think it's worth investigating this topic any more.
Chrysler minivans under investigation for stalling after fuel refill
Wed, 10 Sep 2014According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, at least one man has reported that his 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan stalled unexpectedly on the highway shortly after being refueled. The unidentified man who contacted NHTSA regarding the issue cited as many as eight similar instances reported by other drivers.
NHTSA has announced that it will launch an inquiry into this issue, which could affect as many as 160,000 minivans from Dodge and Chrysler that were sold in 2007 (or more, if a problem is found that extends to additional models years, we'd assume). As of yet, there's no formal investigation, let alone a recall, on these vans, as the agency is merely determining if further action is needed.
Two months ago, Chrysler recalled nearly 700,000 vehicles, the majority of which were minivans, from the 2008-2010 model years to replace ignition switches after an investigation found that their weak springs and detent positions could fool a driver into thinking the car was in the "Run" position, when it's actually in the "Accessory" position.
