Up for sale today is my beautiful and rare 1963 Dodge Dart GT convertible. This car is ready to enjoy today. This is a fantastic family fun machine that runs and drives excellent. It has been enhanced by the addition of POWER DISK BRAKES with a dual chamber master cylinder which is a MAJOR upgrade over the original drum brakes with a single master cylinder. The car only has 72,000 miles on it and sports the largest engine available in the Dart for 1963 and it runs like a watch. It also has the ultra-cool pushbutton automatic that shifts smoothly through the gears (3 speed transmission) and has a rebuilt front suspension to glide down the road.

Before I further describe the car, I want to be clear about a few things:

THIS IS NOT A DISTRESS SALE. I can afford to keep this car indefinitely. I have run out of room so I have to let some cars go. I may be willing to let someone pay me over a short period of time (3 months MAX), no interest, but I own 100% of the car and paperwork until it is 100% paid for. And you will have to convince me you aren’t going to be a problem before I will do this.

I find that about 80% of sellers of vintage cars on eBay are re-sellers. Ask yourself, is someone who needs to make money on a car to feed their family going to disclose everything about the cars they sell? And if you find a seller who "needs money" is he or she going to be completely honest? Be very, very careful of those vehicles with short descriptions and/or only a few pictures..... Which is most of them. People lie.... And sell here because they hope to snag a buyer who can't see the car in person.... I am going to fully disclose what I know about this car, even if it is at my own peril.

I am not interested in ANY trades of ANY kind. Sorry, my garage is overflowing already. Anyone who tries to scam me or hurt me will find out what their genitals taste like. Be decent to me and we will get along fine. I am not a kid and I am not an old geezer. I have a family and a full time job so please be respectful that my time is limited.

Please READ the WHOLE story and look at all the pictures BEFORE you make an offer…. I have written an awful lot to prevent a misunderstanding. Please read on if you are serious…

I took this car in trade on my 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner. I really like this little car and I will keep it if it does not sell for my bargain-basement price. I have to sell a couple of cars but this one does not have to be one of them. I have no emotional attachment to this car so I have put it up for sale along with one other and I have a few more that may or may not follow. I haven’t owned it long and have only driven it around the block so I do not know everything about it but it runs, drives and looks great.

The pictures tell the story well. This car has a gorgeous nearly perfect interior and convertible top.  It is powered by the Super 225 cubic inch version of the legendary Slant Six and the engine has been gone through as well. It has loads of torque and moves the car briskly and with great smoothness. It has one of the nicest engine compartments that I have ever seen and the trunk (which is HUGE) is just as nice. It even has a really nice, high-quality top boot that you can see in the pictures. It runs great, never gets hot, and should get 20-25 MPG. It has the original AM radio (not working) and an aftermarket CD/MP3/tuner with a remote nicely mounted in the glovebox. It is not a real high end system but it sounds nice. The previous owner so loved this car that he named it Jamis and painted the name on the glovebox door. I would just leave it, it was so nicely done, but you could remove it or paint over it.

The bodywork and paint are driver quality - a 10 to 20 footer – perfect for a family car. The panels could be aligned better and the paint could be better in some areas but it has great color and gloss. Not a show car but nothing you’d be embarrassed driving. People hang out the window and all stop and stare because they don’t know what the hell it is…. I had never seen one in person before. Have you? Fortunately the running gear is the same as a Valiant and they made a gazillion of those.

All of the glass is excellent and the windows all roll up and down properly. All of the trim is in very good to excellent condition. The convertible top and plastic rear window are very good to excellent. The top is power operated and works perfectly. The engine runs beautifully and has a nice new Flowmaster exhaust with a nice deep growl to it. The car has power steering and the aforementioned power brakes so it is very easy to drive. If you have never experienced a pushbutton automatic you simply must before you die. It’s the coolest… thing… ever….

The wheels and tires are new or almost new. They will last forever given typical classic car use. Those are high quality performance tires from Falken on there too!

The car is a pure joy to drive and I am torn to see it go. I would not hesitate to get in it and drive to California tomorrow. Here is a list of WHAT WORKS on this car:

Headlights - high and low beam; parking lights; brake lights; turn signals;  horn; power top control; temperature gage; wipers, stereo; emergency or parking brake; speedometer; fuel gage.

I have a clear, blank Indiana title for this car. No name in buyer’s section. So registration anywhere will not be a problem for anyone, anywhere.

I do not have time for tire kickers, chat pals or lookey-loos but I will gladly show anyone the car BEFORE they click buy-it-now. I would prefer it if at all possible. Any inspection BEFORE an offer is welcome.

This car is well worth what I am asking – I have priced it to sell quickly and at a loss to me. This is a car for a person who wants to drive something different and be surrounded by admirers at every stop.

Classic car ownership is very cheap. Here in Connecticut, fixed costs per year are $40 for early American plates; around $20 for taxes ($500 tax assessment is MANDATORY); and Hagerty Classic Auto Insurance is around $120 a year for FULL coverage. So for about $200 (about $0.60 a day!) you can enjoy making the coolest sound ever made by a vehicle while taking your girl (or guy!) out for ice cream all summer long. And get more smiles per mile than a new Corvette. I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t own a classic car – I own a bunch and if my garage were bigger I’d keep this one!

Classic cars are a great investment.  According to Knight Frank's Wealth Report, collectible cars were the top-performing collectible asset with prices surging 23-percent in the 12-months ending in the third quarter of 2012, and posting gains of 395-percent over 10-years. Google it if you don't believe me.

FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: The car is located about 100 miles from New York and New Jersey shipping ports. I would estimate it would cost around $500 to get the car down there. You will have to handle the broker and pay for everything of course.

Dodge celebrates centennial with Charger and Challenger 100th Anniversary Editions

In 1914, the Dodge brothers went from being a parts supplier to a full-scale automaker, and to celebrate the centennial of this milestone, Dodge will offer special editions of the 2014 Charger and Challenger early next year. Both cars will be sold in limited numbers (although no specific number was given), and these cars will stand out thanks to unique touches like 20-inch wheels, 100th anniversary edition logos and the exclusive High Octane Red Pearl Coat paint job (shown above).
The 100th Anniversary Edition package, which runs $2,200 on the 2014 Charger and $2,500 on the 2014 Challenger, comes with red or black leather seats with a cloud print (for a denim-like look) and metal badges on the seatbacks that read "Dodge Est. 1914," while similar logos are also found on the wheel center caps and front fenders. The instrument gauges are unique to each car, with the Charger getting black gauges and the Challenger getting white gauges, and to enunciate the 100-year anniversary, both cars have red numerals on the speedometer for the 100-mile-per-hour mark.
Finishing off the 100th Anniversary Edition cars, which will be offered on V6 and R/T models, Dodge adds a flat-bottom steering wheel and embroidered floor mats as a part of the package. Scroll down for the full press release for these commemorative models.

FCA goes all-in on Jeep and Ram brands on cheap gas bet

It's no surprise that as SUV and truck sales remain strong in the wake of unusually cheap gas, Jeep and Ram sales are taking off. What is a surprise is that FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne thinks that cheap gas will be a "permanent condition," and feels strongly enough about it to change up North American manufacturing plans. Jeep appears to be the biggest beneficiary of the product realignment. In addition to increasing the sales estimates for the brand worldwide upwards to 2 million units a year by 2018, the brand will get a flood of investment for new product and powertrains. Consider the Wrangler Pickup to be part of the salvo, as well as the Grand Wagoneer three-row announced in 2014 as part of the original five-year plan. The Wrangler four-door will get at least two new powertrains, a diesel and mild hybrid version, in its next generation. That mild hybrid powertrain may utilize a 48-volt electrical system like the one that's being developed by Delphi and Bosch – which the suppliers think will be worth a 10 to 15 percent fuel economy gain at a minimum. Down the road, in the 2020s, the Wrangler could adopt a full hybrid system. The diesel powertrain is planned for 2019 or 2020. The Ram 1500 is also pegged to receive a mild hybrid system, again potentially based on 48-volt architecture, sometime after 2020. Lastly, Jeep and Ram will take over some of the production capacity of existing plants. The Sterling Heights, MI, plant that builds the Chrysler 200 will now build the Ram 1500; the Belvidere, IL, facility that produces the Dodge Dart will take over Cherokee output; the big Jeep facility in Toledo, OH, will be used for increased Wrangler demand. In 2015, according to FCA's numbers, car and van demand went down by 10 percent, but SUV demand went up 8 percent and truck demand 2 percent. Considering that these are high-margin vehicles, FCA can't ignore the math. FCA also won't build any new factories to supplement production to meet demand, but instead are reshuffling production priorities. Think of it this way: FCA is gambling on cheap gas being a permanent part of our lives, at least into the 2020s. By doubling down on SUVs and trucks, the company stands to win big, unless a spike in gas prices changes the landscape. FCA isn't talking about a Plan B, so they're all in. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Chrysler recalling over 200k vehicles across its brands

With more than 200,000 units across six separate recalls and almost all of its brands, it appears that Chrysler has officially jumped headfirst into the recall pool this month. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued three official recalls for the automaker, and The Detroit News is reporting that the automaker itself has announced three more.
The biggest of the recalls applies to about 120,000 Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger and Chrysler 300 models for 2011 and 2012 due to faulty wiring harnesses for the seat-mounted side airbags, which could lead to these airbags not deploying in the event of a crash. A little more than 60,000 two-wheel-drive versions of the 2007-2008 Dodge Nitro and 2008 Jeep Liberty SUVs are being recalled due to a heat shield that could cause the driveshaft to break, which if that isn't bad on its own, could then hit underneath where the airbag sensor is mounted, causing the airbags to deploy. Wrapping up NHTSA's recall notices, about 20,000 Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass models for 2012 are also being recalled due to a problem with the fuel tank transfer tube that could lead to the vehicle stalling. The LX car recall campaign is going into effect this month, while the other two will start next month - all three notices are posted below.
In addition to the official NHTSA recalls, The Detroit News is also reporting that Chrysler is recalling more than 16,000 Ram trucks and a small number of Dodge Dart sedans. Around 6,500 2013 Ram 1500 trucks will be recalled due to an improper adjustment of the parking brake cable from the factory, while 7,000 Cummins-powered 2013 Ram Heavy Duty trucks are being recalled due to an engine cover that does not have as much heat resistance as it is supposed to. Finally, a total of 46 Dodge Dart sedans are being recalled due to a problem with the brake calipers and/or parking brake.
