hi  and  thnx. I have always been a pretty big Mopar fan, and I love the tough as nails 318 V8. had one in an 1973 Barracuda, 2 dodge rams and a Jeep back in 1997. they simply run great when taken care of. put that motor in front of a 5 speed OD tranny, small pickup and throw in 4WD, you are good to go ~!~

I like the Dakotas, too. way cooler than the full size Ram, makes a chevy  S-10 look silly (no offense, chevy is a good truck but way cramped) and forget a ford ranger (too small, fine vehicle, though).  Dakotas are especially good for around town and getting stuff done, and not bad on gas. Chrysler sold a ton of these, and for good reason. they do just the right job; but rarely do you find a clean, older, truck and with a 5 speed ( and 4X4 )... just none around...

this truck simply runs great. new cat convertor, new muffler, average or above interior, good body and panels, great engine, tranny, full power, windows, locks, tilt, horn, wipers, lights, gauges, cloth, dash, radio (CD flip), 5 passenger and more. it is all there. runs and drives great, takes off like a freight train, handles well, stops strong at will, steers straight and is basically rattle and noise free. how or why... but this truck is looking to just keep going.

aside from the recent exhaust work, I just paid the bill on a new clutch, throw out bearing, fly wheel recon and transaxle seal. about $1000 repairs just done at my mechanic's shop. this was done on his recommendation as the clutch was grabbing poorly and slipped under throttle in higher gears. I am looking at this fire-engine red Dakota to go the next 50,000 miles. hoping to get back above the cost of repairs and whatever we all do here. bid and buy with confidence, I took every reasonable precaution.

please see all photos carefully. they are all the good and bad I can fit in. remember, this is an older truck with hi-miles, not perfect. interior shows some light signs of wear and use, there may be a bump, scuff, small dent, bed-liner is only partial, stereo is an upgrade aftermarket, tires do show signs of wear but normal and even, truck would benefit from a detail. please note the zero rust and or corrosion under panels and frame, excellent shape.

hey, around town, at the home depot, moving stuff or just cruising down the highway at 70 mph, a pleasure to be in and flipping through the gears. please email or call, or... just stop by and take a drive. truck is as shown and at my home. clean title, truck, key(s), bill of sale, you are all set. drive it home if you want.

Chrysler recalling 67k trucks with manual transmissions

Tue, Dec 30 2014

Earlier this month, Chrysler announced the recall of some 280,000 pickup trucks over concerns that their axles could seize up. Now the automaker has announced an entirely separate recall of another 66,819 trucks over the springs that could break in the clutch ignition interlock switch. The recall affects Dodge Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups, as well as the Dodge Dakota and Mitsubishi Raider. The issue is relevant only to those trucks fitted with manual transmissions, from the 2006 and 2007 model years and manufactured between July 1, 2005, and July 31, 2006. Since a broken spring could, according to statements issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and FCA US LLC (previously known as the Chrysler Group) prevent the vehicle from starting, or cause it to move unintentionally once the ignition kicks over, the automaker will begin notifying owners of the affected vehicles just before Valentine's Day to bring their trucks into their local dealers to have the clutch ignition interlock switch replaced. FCA emphasizes, however, that the unintended movement would only occur "in rare cases" and only "if recommended starting procedures are not followed." Only one such case is known to have occurred, but it did regrettably result in a fatality. Statement: Clutch Ignition Interlock Switch December 29, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is launching a voluntary global recall of an estimated 66,819 older-model pickup trucks equipped with manual transmissions. The Company will replace their clutch ignition interlock switches at no charge to customers. An investigation by FCA US engineers discovered switches in certain model-year 2006 and 2007 pickups may be equipped with spring wire that differs from wire used in previous switches. The alternate wire may break and, as a result, the vehicles may not start. In rare cases, a vehicle may – if recommended starting procedures are not followed – exhibit unintended movement when its ignition key is turned. The Company is aware of one fatality related to this campaign. It stemmed from the single known accident involving this population of vehicles. The recall covers certain Dodge Dakota, Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 and Mitsubishi Raider pickups. Switches with the alternate wire were not used in any vehicles produced before July of 2005, or after June of 2006. The Dakota and Raider are no longer in production.

Lackluster Dodge Dart sales trigger layoffs

Thu, 06 Mar 2014

Hidden amidst the overall very positive sales figures that Chrysler released earlier this week were a few disappointments, the biggest of which may be the Dodge Dart. While Dodge sales in general were down 11 percent from a year ago, the Dart's poor figures stood out from the rest - with 4,888 units sold, the Dart was down 37 percent in February.
It comes as little surprise, then, that the automaker has announced layoffs at its assembly plant in Belvidere, IL. According to The Daily Herald, Dodge will temporarily lay off 325 workers "to balance vehicle supply with current sales demand." Put more simply, there are more Darts than buyers at the moment...
We don't think the Dodge Dart is a bad car, but it's playing in a market that offers a few standout sellers, like the Chevy Cruze, Ford Focus, Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. According to AutoPacific analyst Dave Sullivan, as quoted by The Daily Herald, "great incentives on the Dodge Avenger" are also partly to blame for the Dart's poor showing.
