1989 Shelby Dakota #1238 of 1500. Just painted factory Exotic Red. New reproduction graphics. New ProComp shock absorbers. New ignition coil and Hall Effect module. New cooling fans. New bumpers, front and rear.
We rescued this truck from a used car dealer after its former owner used it as a tow and work vehicle. This was a father and son project. We considered keeping it to match or white Shelby Dakota #233, but we are out of room due to other projects. It needs nothing to be driven, but needs the following to be perfect:
Headliner repaired:
Mirrors and grille painted
Steering wheel re-covered.
Dashboard cracks repaired
Wheel center caps (there is a seller on Ebay with them).
The engine drives and shifts as it should. Compression is between 165 and 170 PSI in all eight cylinders.
The radio stopped working (not original) could be a fuse, I will take a look at it, but as of now it is not working.
This was a nearly two year labor of love. We literally brought this old girl back to life.
Fully restored, these trucks fetch between $10,000 and $15,000. Ours can be had for roughly half that. It does not need that much to be perfect.
The truck is also for sale locally.
On Nov-22-12 at 06:00:48 PST, seller added the following information:
The reserve price is not that high. I will not sell for the starting bid price as the truck is worth much more than that. I am not desperate to sell. if it does not sell, I will keep restoring. The more work I do, the higher the price becomes. I also own a white Shelby Dakota and would not mind having one of each color.
Note: I am being asked questions such as: "Does the truck run?" "What does it need to pass inspection?" "What kind of rust repair will it need." This is not a non running truck needing restoration. It runs very well. It has just been painted. The body and underside need nothing. Other than the headliner, dash, steering wheel leather, fog lights and wheel center caps, it needs nothing. The truck also qualifies for collectors insurance and is currently insured that way.
Make a bid. I am negotiable. Please be aware that if your bid is accepted, it is a done deal.
I will consider trades or partial trades. Interested in Classic Beetles, Turbo Subarus and C4 Corvettes.

Watch a Dodge Viper driver show off his V10 all the way into a wall
Mon, Apr 11 2016Has there ever been a show-off video that doesn't end terribly? This video clip captured with a cellphone shows the driver of a neon green Viper GTS giving a fellow motorist a couple throttle blips to signify his intent – which seems to be to crash the Viper into a concrete wall as quickly as possible. It's not pretty. The mean machine seems to be a second-generation Viper GTS in Stryker Green. To our knowledge, no photos have surfaced of the aftermath, so we wish both the driver and their most-likely bruised ego a speedy recovery. Who knows, maybe the Viper is also salvageable.
eBay Find of the Day: 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10 with 504 miles
Tue, 26 Nov 2013It's typically hard to find early examples of the Dodge Viper that haven't been crashed or modified, but one eBay seller has a showroom-fresh version of the V10 roadster up for sale worthy of an eBay Find of the Day.
With just 504 miles on the odometer (according to the description and not the images) and "no defects at all," this 1994 Viper is a rare find indeed. Tack on the Buy It Now price of just $37,500 and it seems like a steal - especially when checking out the prices and conditions of other early Vipers currently listed on eBay.
Even after spending months ogling the all-new 2014 SRT Viper, it's hard to ignore the raw beauty of the original open-top model. From the three-spoke wheels to the calf-searing side pipes, everything about this Viper looks just the way it did when it rolled off the line almost 20 years ago. The seller even says that the top and windows have never been installed meaning there are no scratches anywhere on this car!
How Dodge dealers are earning the right to sell Hellcats
Wed, 10 Sep 2014We all hate the idea of the dreaded dealer markup when it comes to buying a highly anticipated new car. Take the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, for example. You might spend hours reading about its supercharged V8 and speccing the model just right in the configurator, but when it finally comes down to laying down the cash, the dealer adds thousands of dollars as a "market adjustment" on the muscle machine of your dreams. As it turns out, when the Hellcat starts hitting showrooms in the third quarter, Dodge is trying to make sure that's not the case.
Dealer orders for the much-hyped Hellcat recently started, but Dodge boss Tim Kuniskis has put some special caveats in place to ensure that the Hellcat makes it to the road quickly. The initial allocation is based on the number of Dodge products that a showroom has sold in the last 180 days, and a second allotment in December is based on the last 90 days of sales and 30-day turnover. "You sell a lot of Darts for me, Journeys for me, Durangos for me, I'm going to give you the rights to this one, too, because this is a halo of the brand," said Kuniskis to Automotive News.
Furthermore, how quickly the Hellcat sells is also going to decide whether showrooms get more of them. "If you want to market-adjust the car, that's your right. But if your days-on-lot goes above what the other guys that are selling them at MSRP is, they will end up earning the allocation because their days-on-lot will be lower," he said to Automotive News. Obviously, this doesn't prevent dealers from marking up the Challenger SRT, but the strategy certainly discourages it.
