Hi everybody. This beast belongs to my neighbor who is not internet active. He has been tinkering with this machine for as long as I have been his neighbor, and he loves the car very much, but must sell it for health reasons. So I offered to list it for him.

I sat down with him and he told me all about the car, and took me for a ride.

The car is a 1969 DODGE CORONET R/T 440 CONVERTIBLE. It is red with black trim, black interior, and a beautiful black top that functions perfectly on this convertible.

73,511 miles

IT IS ALL ORIGINAL EXCEPT FOR THE RADIO! He has the original radio and will include it in this auction. The car runs and drives very well and is fully functional.

He bought this car NEW in February of 1970 and has the original title!

I confirmed online that it is one of only 317 made. He thinks it may be rarer than that, as it has some special features that may make it one of a kind. It was built by Dodge for the dealership owner at North Shore Dodge here in Wisconsin, and he thinks Dodge might have given it special touches for the dealer, like the front AND rear bumper guards on the chrome fenders. Other features:

  • 440 automatic
  • 3.23 Rear End
  • Original Drivetrain
  • MANUAL BRAKES
  • Oversize Drums
  • Bubble Hood
  • Low back buckets
  • Power Steering
  • Lighting Group
  • Firestone 500 Tires
  • Radiator is painted but original
  • Replaced water pump - will include original
  • Replaced alternator
  • Replaced brake lines and rebuilt wheel cylinders about 15 years ago
  • Needs tail pipes and mufflers are starting to go
  • Needs heat raiser spring
  • Needs column rebuild
  • Trunk and floors are still SOLID
  • Doors have nicks and small dents but no rust!
Ready to be restored!

He would love to speak with you about your plans. Please come see the car in person if you can! Run any questions by me via email and I will go next door and ask him.

You can see some bondo in the pictures and there is some rust in the places you would expect.

Let me know if there are other pics or videos you want me to take and I will email them to you, as eBay allows only 24 pics.

We went for a ride and the car sounds angry in an awesome way. I videotaped our short ride for you but the video does not do the growl of this car any justice. I also did a video of the engine, and a short video of the top closing. eBay won't let me include the links, so please go to YouTube and do a search for each of the following codes to see each video:

If you are out of town I can help you set up shipping via my friends at uship.com. Buyer is of course responsible for shipping costs.

$250 due within 3 days. Full payment due within 10 days.

Thanks for checking it out and be sure to send me your questions! I have perfect feedback that I am willing to put on the line to help out my neighbor who needs to pay some health bills.

Jay Leno gets his denim mitts on Dodge's new Challenger Hellcat

Mon, 04 Aug 2014

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is definitely the performance car of the moment. The fact that in the near future, people will be able to buy a 707-horsepower muscle machine straight from a major automaker for $59,995 and with a factory warranty almost seems absurd. We drove it recently and found the Hellcat to be just as much of a beast as its numbers would suggest. Now, it's a certain comedian's turn behind the wheel in the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage.
This week's guest is Dodge President and CEO Tim Kuniskis, and he's there to drop all sorts of interesting factoids about the Hellcat. For example, its Pirelli P Zero tires retail at around $300 each, he says. That makes its smoky burnouts a rather expensive proposition. Kuniskis, who recently hinted at a mystery Woodward Dream Cruise debut, also talks about the genesis of the 2015 SRT project with a goal to get over some of the standard Challenger's weight and size disadvantages. The fix is a supercharged V8, massive brakes and other goodies to smooth over the platform's more glaring shortcomings.
Leno appears to get a big kick out of the Hellcat. However, he can't seem to stop bringing up his desire to drive one with a six-speed manual. They obviously exist, but Kuniskis has an eight-speed automatic for the retired Tonight Show host to try out. Of course, as with any Hellcat video, there has to be at least one burnout. Despite the expensive tires, it seems like enthusiast's law at this point - and dear ol' Jay wouldn't want to break any rules, would he?

Dodge whips covers off 2013 Blacktop series

Thu, 10 Jan 2013

Dodge introduced us to its Blacktop model lineup a year ago with the 2012 Charger and followed up with more recently with the 2013 Challenger and 2013 Avenger. Now the automaker will be applying this ominous-looking treatment to the Durango, Grand Caravan and Journey models for 2013 as well. These models will be unveiled next week at the Detroit Auto Show, but Dodge has released most of the details for these new products including pricing and availability.
If the Grand Caravan R/T (aka, the Man Van) wasn't aggressive enough for you or its $30,000 starting price was a little too pricey, then the 2013 Grand Caravan Blacktop could be the ticket. Starting with the SXT trim level (which stickers at $19,995), the Blacktop package costs only $595, and adds unique features such as blacked-out headlights, grille and fog lights bezels and an all-black interior. The van rides on black-accented, 17-inch aluminum wheels. The Grand Caravan Blacktop is only available in monochromatic paint schemes limited to Billet Silver, Brilliant Black, Maximum Steel, Redline Red and Stone White
Likewise, the 2013 Journey Blacktop is offered only on the SXT model (starting at $18,995) with all of the crossover's normal options such as four- and six-cylinder engines, five- or seven-passenger seating and front- or all-wheel drive. The Blacktop package adds $995 to the Journey SXT's price and features many of the same black accents as the Grand Caravan like the headlights, grille, door mirrors and lower fascia. Exterior colors are limited to Bright Silver, Bright Red, Brilliant Black, Brilliant Red Tri-Coat, White, Pearl White Tri-Coat and Storm Grey, and the package's 19-inch wheels come in Gloss Black. Inside, the Journey Blacktop comes standard with black cloth seats and Chrysler's 8.4-inch Uconnect touch screen, but black leather is also available as an option.

eGarage interviews a couple with 65 Vipers

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

Owning multiple vehicles can be a hassle worth enjoying if you're willing to spend the time and the money required to acquire and maintain them. But when it's hard to make ends meet while underused valuable hunks of metal, plastic and rubber sit happily taking up garage space, journeys into the depths of other people's well-developed automotive obsessions will either bring you and your cars closer together, or compel you to sell them off before you become one of those fanatics. A recent video by eGarage is one of those journeys, and it's not for the faint of heart: D'Ann and Wayne Rauh own 65 Dodge and SRT Vipers in a collection of automobiles that exceeds 100.
We're not sure if the couple has developed heat-resistant calves from stepping over Viper door sills made burning-hot by side-exhaust pipes, but we wouldn't be surprised if they did. We did learn that their obsession with the no-holds-barred sports car started in 2006 with a trip to a dealership to buy just one Viper, which goes to show how innocently car obsessions can start. But the Rauhs seem to be doing just fine - perhaps better - 64 more Vipers later.
Watch the video below for the full story and to see what eGarage claims is the world's largest Viper collection.
