Here's the story on this car. I had been looking for a mid 60's MOPAR for a few different reasons. My wife's Uncle was part owner of a Dodge dealership back in the 60's and early 70's (Heaven for any MOPAR lover). I had seen the movie " Mr. Holland's Opus " and he used a 65 Coronet for his first Driver's Education car - with some very funny scenes. My Granddaughter is going thru Drivers Ed right now and I thought a tribute care with EAST TOWER DODGE on the side of the car would be great for everybody. WELL, I just can't get it done. For some reason I just don't get everything done anymore like I used to. I'm 60 now and things just take longer. I'm not going to be able to get this car anywhere near finished in time. So it's for sale.
I bought the car out of Nebraska and had it shipped here so it's not an Illinois rust bucket. But PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE read this description closely. This car needs a complete restoration. Yes, it will run. Yes, the transmission works, Yes, the brakes work and yes, it has good tires on it. The car runs rough and it smokes (blue). It looks pretty good in the pictures but it's a rattle can paint job just so the neighbors wouldn't complain when it's out (it's been stored inside most all the time). The lower part of the left front fender is rusted pretty bad. The lower front part of the right front fender is bent and can probably be straightened. The rear quarters are in surprisingly good shape as are the floors. The interior needs restored. The windshield has wiper streaks on it but the rest of the glass looks good. The car has an almost new battery and a new fuel pump in it but I think the carb needs rebuilt to help it run a little smoother. I also purchased a set of used "driver quality" tail lights that may be worth about half of my starting price. I also have access to another wide block 318 (from a 64 I think). It can go with the car if it is picked up before March 31. IT MUST BE OUT OF THE STORAGE AREA BY THEN. It's a spare 318 a buddy had for his 64 Dodge and it was supposed to be a good running engine before it was pulled and put in storage. Keep in mind that if the car is shipped, the only place to put the spare engine would be in the trunk of this car and to leave the trunk lid open. It could do some terrific damage before it got to where it was going.
Another thing, I would like a deposit on the car within 3-4 days but some of you may be waiting on a tax return (I remember those). I will wait up to a month on the balance but the car must be paid for before it ships or is picked up. NO I WILL NOT TAKE A CHECK ON THE DAY THE CAR IS PICKED UP. Bring green money (or silver or gold). Good Luck
Please ask any questions. I want the buyer to be well informed about this car. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION

Dodge not being dropped by Chrysler, CEO reaffirms
Mon, 16 Sep 2013Dodge isn't going anywhere. Despite some rumor and speculation over the future of the crosshair grille and the cars that wear it, Dodge brand boss, Tim Kuniskis, sat down with TheDetroitBureau.com, explaining that the marque isn't going anywhere. His sentiments echo those of SRT boss Ralph Gilles, who told a group of enthusiasts in July that "Dodge is here to stay!"
Dodge's death won't be "a part of a master plan to consolidate brands," Kuniskis told TheDetroitBureau.com. Instead, the brand, which is ultimately under the command of Fiat/Chrysler CEO, Sergio Marchionne, will likely ditch some of its badge-engineered models, like the Dodge Grand Caravan. A more focused Dodge, which was something Gilles has already hinted at, will likely see it exploring areas of the market that haven't been exploited by other Chrysler brands.
Kuniskis, not surprisingly, wasn't willing to delve into any detailed product plans, telling TDB that the size of the brand's lineup "remains to be seen." Regardless of how big the brand actually ends up being (it is presently Chrysler's volume brand - and not by a little), hopefully the statements from Kuniskiss can put the rumors of a Dodge closure to bed.
Dodge Viper recall requires small-handed mechanics
Fri, 25 Apr 2014It has been over a year since Chrysler first announced its recall of 3,660 2003-2004 Dodge Vipers because the airbag could suddenly deploy. The repairs are finally beginning, and it appears to be a nightmare for mechanics.
According to the automaker's filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the airbag control module can fail, which causes the bag or the seatbelt pre-tensioner to deploy without warning. It took over a year to design the new parts, according to The New York Times. However, Chrysler finally has a new "jumper harness with an in-line diode filter circuit" ready to fix the problem.
The dilemma now moves to the mechanics who have to actually install the part. A 47-step guide from Chrysler explains that the procedure should take about two hours. It's not an easy job, though. Most of the dashboard has to be taken apart, and the instructions include this helpful bit of advice: "Installing the jumper harness and filter box into position is not an easy task. Patience, perseverance, and small hands are required." We wish the best of luck to them. The fix comes just in time for the Vipers to enjoy the summer sun.
Dodge CEO and Gas Monkey Garage dissect the 10-second Challenger Hellcat
Fri, 11 Jul 2014So far, whenever we've seen the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT with its 707-horsepower, supercharged Hellcat V8, the muscle car has been smoking its tires. Dodge is finally proving that the SRT can do more than ruin perfectly good sets of rubber, though. In it's latest video, company CEO Tim Kuniskis hands the Hellcat off to the guys from Gas Monkey Garage to show how quickly the automaker's most powerful model can make it down the drag strip.
Of course, the only fitting contender to race against Dodge's latest top muscle car is its grandpa - a Hemi-powered 1971 Challenger, in this case. Before getting to the main event, the hosts also show off some of the SRT's unique features like the blanks in the grille that feed the intercoolers. We'll go ahead and spoil that the Hellcat makes its pass in the 10-second range, and the video admits the tires on the production version would take just a touch longer to cover the quarter-mile. However, you have to watch film to see just how quick it actually goes. Scroll down to see a classic example of American muscle drag racing against its modern legacy.
