Up for auction is a 1952 Dodge Coronet 4 door sedan.  The car was last titled in 1985 with 22,000 miles on it.  It now has about 30,000.  The car has the Flathead 230ci engine with the Gyromatic transmission, or Tip Toe shift (Desoto).  The transmission works great.  The car drives smooth, but will not go over 35mph then it starts to backfire.  No. 4 intake valve is sticking.  Brakes are hard, and the master cylinder leaks occasionally, mainly when the car sets a while. Exhaust is amateur, NAPA glass pack, clamps, sounds cool, okay for daily driver.

This car in in great condition for the age. IMO the condition of the body, and the interior are just amazing for a car this old, from Illinois! Some of the parts appear to be brand new.  I have to sell it because my daughter is getting braces, and the cash would be nice, but not nice enough to be low balled...Car for sale locally, reserve the right to end auction at any time.  Cash only sale!  Your bill of sale will be the title....plates come with the car.  They came off ebay.

The Great....
-excellent interior, nothing damaged or missing (besides front carpet).
-clock works, but is slow (correct twice a day)
-all original, you can still see the OEM stickers on some parts of the engine
-Decent set of used radials on the vehicle
-new fuel pump, oil pan was dropped and cleaned, newer battery, fuel tank cleaned and lined, carb rebuilt
-ROCK SOLID BODY!  This car sat a log time in a barn (still has hay under bumper), developed a nice patina.  Must have been a lot of cats around...
-clear Illinois title
The Not So Great...
-front fenders have typical sheet metal rust around headlights
-small amount of rust around rear fender/trunk area, passenger rear fender replaced (OEM) due to accident.
-dent on trunk hump
-No.4 cylinder has low compression 30.  All the rest are okay.
-radiator weeps in some spots when it sets a while.  I have never seen it leak when up to temperature.
-heater controls are seized due to setting for years.
-exhaust manifold has a 1" crack.
-gas gauge does not work

Dodge Charger Pursuit nets quickest lap in police car test

Mon, 30 Sep 2013

We wouldn't advocate trying to outrun the police, no matter what you're driving and no matter what they are. But if you see a Dodge Charger bearing down on you with blue lights flashing in your rearview mirror, you'd better think twice before attempting to flee, because the Charger Pursuit has once again emerged as the fastest police cruiser out there.
In the latest Police Vehicle Evaluation held by the Michigan State Police at Grattan Raceway, Dodge says its new Charger Pursuit AWD posted a lap time of 1:33.85. That's quicker than any of the other law enforcement vehicles present, but also makes it the quickest all-wheel-drive cruiser available to law-enforcement officials. That may not make it the quickest of all time, but that honor belongs to the rear-drive Dodge Charger Pursuit, which cuts a fraction of a second off its AWD counterpart's time with a 1:33.70. But in regions where the extra traction could come in handy, that's as negligible a difference as we've ever seen.
Of course, the annual PVE sessions held by the Michigan State Police take in to account a wide variety of performance tests, including top speed, acceleration, braking, handling, fuel economy and ergonomics. The MSP has yet to reveal its full findings from its 2014 model year tests, but we'll be sure to bring them to you when they are published.

Dodge lets us drive 100-years' worth of history [w/videos]

Thu, 03 Jul 2014

A raft of important production models from the last hundred years were available for me to either drive or ride in.
Dodge is 100 years old this year. So, as happened on Ford's recent centennial, the 50-year birthday of the Porsche 911, and others, the company has an excuse to trot out the highlights of its history next to its upcoming model lineup, and declare that "these are the fruits of the Dodge Boys' tree whose roots have grown strong." Or something like that. Never so hampered by marketing skepticism that I'll pass up the opportunity to burn someone else's rubber, I was happy to drive out to Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester Hills, MI - former grand estate of the Dodge family - to hear the spiel.

We drive the cars of Furious 7... in Forza Horizon 2 [w/video]

Thu, Apr 9 2015

On March 27, Turn 10 Studios, the folks behind the Forza Motorsport series, and Universal Pictures, the studio responsible for the Fast and Furious franchise, gave us a match made in heaven, announcing a "standalone expansion" featuring the two franchises. Called Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious, it features the cars from the latest film installment, unique missions and the voice-acting of Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, who plays tech guru Tej Parker on camera. A Fast and Furious video game? Seems like a no brainer. It gets better. Rather than limiting the Fast and Furious Edition cars to the expansion game, Turn 10 made them available through one of their (some may say notorious) downloadable content packages. Eight of the expansion's 11 cars were made available for just $4.99 (the only cars that weren't included were the Fast and Furious Edition Nissan GT-R, while the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and McLaren P1 are already available in-game). What's cool ais that the cars featured in both games are visually identical to the vehicles driven by the stars of Furious 7. Each in-game car has an on-screen parallel that plays a role in advancing the film's story. Considering that we're unlikely to score seat time in Dominic Toretto's real Dodge Charger, then, we figured we'd take to the game and test the car in the digital realm. We've got nine little cluster reviews, covering the cars both in the game and how they appear in the movies. And don't worry, there are no major spoilers here. Click on for the cars of Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious. 1970 Dodge Charger R/T Fast and Furious Edition Supercharged 7.2L V8 / 900 HP / 663 LB-FT The one vehicle that is mandatory in a Fast and Furious video game, Dom's hot-rodded 1970 Dodge Charger, is as much a character in the films as its driver. Furious 7 marks the fourth appearance of this Mopar beast in the series. Not surprisingly it's a handful to drive, wildly quick and with a four-speed transmission packed full of very tall gears. But beyond that, it's arguably the coolest of the FF Edition cars. This black beauty is exactly as it appears in the latest installment of the film, with the video game version featuring intricate little details, like the moving parts on the BDS supercharger. It's an iconic car, and it's treated as such in the game.
