Rare Collector Quality Mopar 1973 Dodge Charger B Body Extremely Original 318 on 2040-cars
Lubbock, Texas, United States
This third generation Dodge Charger will impress the Classic Car connoisseur’s to the avid collector. It is in amazing condition, almost as though we are stepping back in time and looking through a window, as this Charger sits on the Dodge Dealers showroom floor in 1973. There is something inherently cool about a Mopar that has remained as timeless as this vehicle has. This B Body Mopar has never been hacked up, modified, driven hard, or cheaply restored. I simply can say, I rarely ever see a unrestored Mopar of this caliber and that truly is a huge statement. This Charger would be the perfect platform to turn into a pro-touring hot rod since its body and floors are completely solid and rust free or leave it the way it is, drive it and enjoy it or It's a perfect opportunity for a Dodge dealer to put it on the showroom for that throwback look. Most of these highly sought after Mopars have been scooped up over the years with very few retaining the originality and documentation that this example does. From the Family that has owned this car since new:
For 1973, the Chargers received vertically slatted taillights and new grills and the hideaway headlights were no longer available. This 3rd generation Charger is easily recognizable with its exaggerated coke bottle shape and swoops throughout its body-lines. The exterior of this car needs no excuses from its excellent shine and finish to its vinyl top and trim work. The interior is just a breathtaking as the exterior and will challenge you to imagine if this car ever was driven. The dash and gauges are picture perfect. This style Mopar allows for all the comforts of a modern ride with COLD air conditioning, a Torqueflite automatic transmission and 318 V8 engine. This vehicle fills the gap of acquiring a collector vehicle that will continue to appreciate in value and will also retain its original aesthetics. Because remember vintage cars can only be original once and it is highly feasible that years from now when many have been modified or cloned that the originals will be the vehicles that will appreciate in valuable. We are already starting to this with the original Chevy and Fords of the 30's. This Mopar will be a great addition to anyones collection. Stats:

FCA goes all-in on Jeep and Ram brands on cheap gas bet
Wed, Jan 27 2016It's no surprise that as SUV and truck sales remain strong in the wake of unusually cheap gas, Jeep and Ram sales are taking off. What is a surprise is that FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne thinks that cheap gas will be a "permanent condition," and feels strongly enough about it to change up North American manufacturing plans. Jeep appears to be the biggest beneficiary of the product realignment. In addition to increasing the sales estimates for the brand worldwide upwards to 2 million units a year by 2018, the brand will get a flood of investment for new product and powertrains. Consider the Wrangler Pickup to be part of the salvo, as well as the Grand Wagoneer three-row announced in 2014 as part of the original five-year plan. The Wrangler four-door will get at least two new powertrains, a diesel and mild hybrid version, in its next generation. That mild hybrid powertrain may utilize a 48-volt electrical system like the one that's being developed by Delphi and Bosch – which the suppliers think will be worth a 10 to 15 percent fuel economy gain at a minimum. Down the road, in the 2020s, the Wrangler could adopt a full hybrid system. The diesel powertrain is planned for 2019 or 2020. The Ram 1500 is also pegged to receive a mild hybrid system, again potentially based on 48-volt architecture, sometime after 2020. Lastly, Jeep and Ram will take over some of the production capacity of existing plants. The Sterling Heights, MI, plant that builds the Chrysler 200 will now build the Ram 1500; the Belvidere, IL, facility that produces the Dodge Dart will take over Cherokee output; the big Jeep facility in Toledo, OH, will be used for increased Wrangler demand. In 2015, according to FCA's numbers, car and van demand went down by 10 percent, but SUV demand went up 8 percent and truck demand 2 percent. Considering that these are high-margin vehicles, FCA can't ignore the math. FCA also won't build any new factories to supplement production to meet demand, but instead are reshuffling production priorities. Think of it this way: FCA is gambling on cheap gas being a permanent part of our lives, at least into the 2020s. By doubling down on SUVs and trucks, the company stands to win big, unless a spike in gas prices changes the landscape. FCA isn't talking about a Plan B, so they're all in. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
How to turn a Dodge airport tug into a trail slayer
Sun, 16 Nov 2014Sometimes, having a ton of fun requires takes a ton of work. Just nine days before the so-called Ultimate Adventure 2014, the folks behind 4-Wheel & Off-Road had 40 tasks to complete in order to turn the ratty truck pictured above into a machine that could excel on treacherous off-road trails while still being able to handle highway jaunts. Much of process behind the build was chronicled on the latest episode of Dirt Every Day.
The team's vehicle started life as a 1990 Dodge tug truck that spent part of its life hauling around airplanes. The builders hung on to the Cummins six-cylinder diesel, but they tossed out practically everything else for the project, with some seriously heavy-duty replacement parts for the transmission, transfer case, axles and a whole lot more. The process was certainly a ton of work, but the end result looks like a fantastic crawler.
Sure, it might have been easier to bring a truck that was already prepared, but where would the fun in that have been? Stay tuned until the end of the video for a few glimpses of the completed Dodge and peek at some of the punishment it goes through.
Dodge not being dropped by Chrysler, CEO reaffirms
Mon, 16 Sep 2013Dodge isn't going anywhere. Despite some rumor and speculation over the future of the crosshair grille and the cars that wear it, Dodge brand boss, Tim Kuniskis, sat down with TheDetroitBureau.com, explaining that the marque isn't going anywhere. His sentiments echo those of SRT boss Ralph Gilles, who told a group of enthusiasts in July that "Dodge is here to stay!"
Dodge's death won't be "a part of a master plan to consolidate brands," Kuniskis told TheDetroitBureau.com. Instead, the brand, which is ultimately under the command of Fiat/Chrysler CEO, Sergio Marchionne, will likely ditch some of its badge-engineered models, like the Dodge Grand Caravan. A more focused Dodge, which was something Gilles has already hinted at, will likely see it exploring areas of the market that haven't been exploited by other Chrysler brands.
Kuniskis, not surprisingly, wasn't willing to delve into any detailed product plans, telling TDB that the size of the brand's lineup "remains to be seen." Regardless of how big the brand actually ends up being (it is presently Chrysler's volume brand - and not by a little), hopefully the statements from Kuniskiss can put the rumors of a Dodge closure to bed.
