To start with, let me first say that I understand that there is a lot of information in my ad. I also understand that this may be boring to the person who is just looking and not buying. However, for the person who is looking to buy and spend their hard earned money, I feel that there is never too much information.

As to myself, I am not a dealer, just a (64) year old kid that loves muscle cars. For my work, I recently retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and have worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, please check out my eBay feedback which is 100% with (1,095) transactions. Many of those have been muscle cars which I have sold to individuals all over the country as well as Canada, England, France, Switzerland and Australia.

Just some quick history on the 1971 Dodge Charger. Though it wasn't as handsome as the second-generation Charger, the third one had a look that was impressive in its own way. But this is the Charger that had to face down encroaching emissions and safety regulations, and those left it emasculated by the time it left production. But at least it was robust at the start.

"A Dodge Charger? A piece of sculpture?" Those were the rhetorical questions Car and Driver asked upon meeting the 1971 Charger for the first time. "What the hell kind of individual artistic statement can that be when 50,000 people a year make the same statement? Besides you've got to admit that an objet d'art created by a guy with a name like Gallo, or Toler or Quasar (who everybody knows works in a vital environment like Ibiza or Johnson's Pasture or St. Tropez) has a bit more cachet than anything [Dodge chief designer] Bill Brownlie can slap together out of modeler's clay in gay, romantic Hamtramack, Michigan. "But that does not alter the fact that Brownlie and his associates have come up with the best-styled new car for 1971…. The Charger comes off as anything but a styling compromise. Not only is it apparent to people viewing the car from the outside but the driver is aware that he is controlling something far from normal as well."

Designed around a more exaggerated Coke-bottle shape than the second-generation Charger, the third had swoops where the second had creases. The front grille was now split into two halves with each half surrounded by chrome or body-color bumper and featuring either an exposed or hidden pair of round headlamps depending on trim level. The whole cockpit area was new, too, with a semifastback rear window transitioning into a deck lid with an integral ducktail spoiler. By any standards this car was both flamboyant and handsome.

While most of the chassis and structural components carried forward from previous Chargers, the third-generation car rode on a wheelbase shrunk 2 inches to 115. There were now six different Charger models ranging from the base plain-old Charger in both hardtop and coupe body styles and then rising through the Charger 500 hardtop, the more luxury-oriented Charger 500 SE hardtop, the high-performance-oriented Charger 500 Super Bee hardtop and, at the top, the Charger R/T hardtop. The base Charger power plant was a 145-hp 225-cubic-inch slant six with the 230-hp 318 two-barrel optional; the Charger 500 started with the 318 and had the range of V8s available; the Super Bee started with the 275-hp 383 V8 with the 370-hp 440 "Magnum" four-barrel, 385-hp 440 "Six-Pack" (that's three two-barrel carbs) and 425-hp 426 Hemi V8s optional; and the R/T started with the 440 Magnum under its hood and was also offered with the Six-Pack and Hemi.

This expansion of the Charger line is understandable because Dodge had eliminated the two-door version of the midsize Coronet. So if you wanted a '71 Dodge intermediate with only two doors, your only choice was a Charger of some sort.

I am selling this 1971 Dodge Charger 500 for a good friend of mine and have actually seen this car in person and it is outstanding. Owned by a retired teacher from northern Maine who has a passion for Mopars, he babied this rare Mopar example at all times. The Charger 500 has only been driven to local car shows and has won 1st place trophies everywhere it went.

The engine bay is nicely detailed. The Car has 15" Magnum 500 wheels with BF Goodrich TA radial raised withe letter tires, P235/60 R15".  Options are bucket seats with console, am/fm radio with  3-speaker system, manual steering, PFDB, Rally gauges with factory tachometer, white vinyl roof, color keyed  bumpers which were refinished in gold to match the car's exterior finish.  Only one single repaint.  The 500 has a solid straight body and passes the magnetic test.  Very minimal body work to the extreme lower doors and rear quarters.  No dings, dents or bubbles or rust showing in the body's exterior finish.  The two wheel well moudlings up front have slight dings in them and are not perfect. The car is overall very clean and solid on the underside of this Mopar. The white vinyl rood is in fantastic condition with no bubbles under the vinyl or by back window.  The car has driver quality paint looking overall very good with one minor touch up noticed.  The underside has factory undercoating, solid original floors, rockers, and torque boxes with no rust or repairs noticed. Emergency brake system works. Looking at the interior's two tone green/gold contrast surely brings you back to the 70s. Nice clean instrument panels, everything works!  Reverse light, heater, horn, wipers, all the gauges work, including the tachometer.  60,393 miles indicated as actual when the car was purchased.  Kick panels, door hardware, weather strip, window felts are also excellent.  Factory Hurst pistol grip shifter that shifts smooth.  A lot of eye appeal, drives excellent, just serviced and ready to go!  Comes with broadcast sheet and fender tag.  Great investment.

2016 Dodge Charger Pursuit Vehicle Gets Uconnect 12.1 | Autoblog Minute

Fri, Sep 11 2015

Dodge introduces new tech into its 2016 pursuit vehicles that even Jake and Elwood couldn?t outrun. Autoblog's Adam Morath reports on this edition of Autoblog Minute.

2015 Dodge Charger priced from $27,995, Hellcat from $63,995*

Sun, 19 Oct 2014

Ladies and gentlemen, let's get the most salient bit of information out of the way right off the bat: $63,995*. That's the amount of money Dodge dealers will be asking for (at the very least, naturally) for a 2015 Charger Hellcat (*plus $995 for destination on all pricing figures). That rather reasonable sum will bring home its buyer a 6.2-liter Hemi V8 engine boasting a supercharger to post such gaudy figures as 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, leading to a top speed of 204 miles per hour to go along with an NHRA-certified quarter-mile time of 11.0 seconds.
With that out of the way, the rest of the 2015 Dodge Charger pricing information breaks down as follows: $27,995 will deliver a sedan with a 292-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Moving up one step of the ladder nets the buyer an SXT model with the same engine, but a nicer chunk of technology and optional equipment for a $2,000 premium. All-wheel drive adds another $3,000. Hemi V8-powered R/T models now boast an eight-speed transmission bolted to the same well-loved 370-horsepower engine as before, for a base price of $32,995.
The SRT 392 model that had hitherto been the top-performing Charger brings with it an asking price of $47,385 while bargain hunters can equip a Charger R/T Scat Pack machine with that same 485-horsepower 6.4-liter Hemi, albeit with somewhat less posh interior bits and pieces, the removal of the 392's adjustable suspension and hi-po wheel and tire package for $39,995.

Roadkill pits every project car against each other

Sat, 22 Feb 2014

The guys behind Motor Trend's monthly Roadkill series have collected nine of their favorite project cars from their videos and pitted them against each other in a battle royale to determine a winner. It's 44 minutes long, but it's completely worth the investment of time.
The cars run the gamut from a 1973 Chevrolet Ramp Truck, a 1975 AMC Pacer and a legitimately impressive 1967 Chevy Camaro, and they are pitted against each other to see which is the fastest around an autocross course. The drivers include Roadkill's two hosts and Motor Trend's Johnny Lieberman and Carlos Lago. It's reminiscent of the best episodes of Top Gear and worth a watch.
So it's the weekend - the perfect time to relax. Grab your preferred beverage, get comfortable and enjoy 44 minutes of some seriously ratty but utterly cool project cars as they are throttled within an inch of their lives (or past it). Scroll down to check out the video.
