Condition:

*This 2007 Dodge Charger Police Edition Fleet Vehicle is equipped with the powerful 5.7 liter Hemi engine mated to the 'auto stick' 5-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle runs and drives excellent with all equipment, associated systems, and accessories functioning as designed, even the spotlight works.  The interior, though expectantly spartan and business-like,  is nice and clean (still smells new) and in very good condition with very minimal wear for the year and considering its previous owner service. The exterior is also in very good condition top to bottom with a nice glossy Stone White clear coat finish and no rust anywhere.  All glass, lights, emblems, and trim are in excellent condition with no defects. All tires are matching P225/60R/18 Firestone Firehawk GT Pursuit and have approximately 25 - 30% tread remaining.

History and Features:

*This Charger SE was built on April 4, 2007 at the Bramalea assembly plant in Canada and subsequently delivered to Beck Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Palatka, Florida where it was sold to the St. John's County Sheriff's Office in St. Augustine, Florida on May 15, 2007.  Everything on this police cruiser is heavy duty rated for severe service as documented in a list of build items that I obtained from Chrysler LLC Customer Assistance. Here is a partial listing of those build items that are believed to be 'police vehicle' specific:

X5 HD Cloth Bucket Seats w/Vinyl Rear
AHBP Police Group
AHVP Special Service Group
BABP 160 Amp Alternator
BCFP 800 Amp Maintenance Free Battery
CKJ Black Vinyl Floor Covering
CUMP Mini Floor Console
CV8P Column Mount Automatic Shift Lever
CW6 Deactivate Rear Doors/Windows
LNF Black Left Spot Lamp
LPSS CHMS Lamp
NHAP Engine Oil Cooler
NMSP Severe Duty Engine Cooling
SBPP Performance Steering
SERP Load Leveling and Height Control
WEJP 18X7.5 Steel Wheels
WMHP Bright Hub Caps
XAXP Engine Hour Meter

XFSP Equipment Mounting Bracket

*I acquired this vehicle directly from the St. John's County Sheriff's Office at a public auction in mid-April with 90,862 miles showing on the odometer and have put approximately 700 enjoyable miles on it to date. The car is a real blast to drive and performs and handles extraordinary with the only issue being the constant illumination of the engine light. This light has been on since the day I purchased the vehicle and is really more of a minor annoyance rather than an issue as I have not noticed any effect on its performance, driveability, or reliability. A quick scan with my OBD code reader revealed the following DTC's:

P0520 Engine Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch Circuit Malfunction (New pressure sensor costs approx.$50 )
P0481 Cooling Fan 2 Control Circuit Malfunction (Engine runs at normal temperature all the time)
P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) (New Oxygen sensor costs approx.$75 )

*In addition to the engine light, just recently, the ABS, ESP, and BAS lights illuminated simultaneously while driving home from running an errand.  Researching this condition I have learned that the illumination of these lights together is an indication of the anti-lock brake system, electronic stability program, and brake assist system becoming deactivated. Further investigation revealed a dirty or defective abs wheel sensor(s) is the most likely source of this condition. (New abs wheel sensors cost approximately $30 ). The only noticeable effect I have experienced with this condition is the vehicle will easily spin the rear tires under 'spirited acceleration' from a stop light.

Upgrades:

*Prepping the car for civilian use required a little time and effort and included removal of the vinyl number decals on the roof, fenders, and front and rear bumper covers, installing a plastic plug in the 1" diameter drilled hole in the roof that was used for the police strobe light bar electrical lead, and touching up several minor nicks and scratches in the paint.  As you can see from the photos, I retained the vinyl stripes on the deck lid and on either side to maintain that police car appearance but these can be removed easily without damage to the paint using a hair dryer. To give the interior a more civilized look and feel, I installed a new aftermarket console on the existing equipment mounting plate and a new set of OEM carpeted floor mats from Dodge. There are several very small holes in the interior trim pieces from previously mounted police equipment. To give some identity markings to the exterior, I have added "HEMI 5.7 Liter" decals to each front fender along with a "Hemi Interceptor" emblem on the deck lid.  There are two very small drilled holes at the top of each front door opening (not visible with the doors closed) that were used to mount the strobe light bar on the roof.  Since the vehicle was missing its spare tire, I have added a very good P225/60R/18 Firestone Firehawk GT pursuit full size spare tire (without rim) in the trunk to perfectly match the other four tires on the vehicle. To enhance it's already stout performance, I modified the engine's air intake system to incorporate a cold ram air intake design. This modification was accomplished while still retaining the stock outward appearance of the system. The engine performance appears to have benefited from this modification as evidenced by an improvement of the vehicles quarter mile numbers. In factory stock form, the Charger ran a best of 14.387 seconds at 98.03 MPH, while after the modification, it improved to 13.835 seconds at 100.61 MPH, representing a full .5 second and 2-1/2 MPH improvement in 1/4 mile performance. Hence the term "Fast & Ferocious" was derived.

Extras:

*Included with this Charger are the original owner's manual with the Police Vehicle supplement in the factory case, a complete 2-page list of the 100 build codes, and an 8-1/2" x 11"  two-sided advertisement placard for the 2007 Dodge Charger Police Vehicle listing the standard and optional police equipment available from Chrysler's Fleet Operations along with all the pertinent dimensions and specifications of their police cruiser.

Disclosures:

*I have tried to be as up front as possible in this description, and to represent the condition of this vehicle with all good intentions and to the best of my ability.  However, being a used vehicle, it is being sold "as is, where is" with no warranty, so please ask any and all questions. The buyer is solely responsible for the pick up and delivery of this vehicle  Lastly,  I reserve the right to end this listing at any time as this vehicle is for sale locally.

Dodge Scat Pack for 5.7L Hemi V8 detailed, priced

Sat, 05 Apr 2014

Dodge revived the Scat Pack name back in November at the 2013 SEMA show. At the time, though, we were short of details on forthcoming upgrade packages, which were destined to add some oomph to the Challenger, Charger and Dart. We're still waiting to hear about the upgrades to the Dart's 2.4-liter four-pot, but Dodge has gone ahead and released the details on the upgrades to the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 in the Challenger and Charger R/T.
As we detailed in our original post, three different Scat Packs will be available that will allow customers to upgrade their cars without voiding the warranties. Starting with the $2,195 Stage 1 kit, owners will net an extra 18 horsepower and 18 pound-feet of torque thanks to a Mopar-branded cold-air intake, exhaust and ECU ref lash. Stage 1 is also the only package that could be installed outside of a Chrysler-authorized service center without voiding the warranty (a mechanically competent owner could even do it at home, we're told by Dodge). Stage 2 builds on the entry level Scat Pack, and adds performance camshaft kit, which boosts output over the stock 5.7 by up to 30 hp for $1,895. As with the Stage 1, the ECU is tweaked.
For those that want to go whole hog, they can add the Stage 3 for $4,995. The top-tier gets quite serious, adding CNC-ported cylinder heads, as well as high-flow headers and cats. Output over stock is 58 hp and 47 lb-ft of torque. Each kit comes with a pair of badges, just in case owners want a bit of visual flair.

2015 Dodge Viper GTC available in 25 million no-cost combos with 1 Of 1 bespoke program

Thu, Jan 8 2015

What's the one thing no car can have too much of? Here's a hint – it's not power. It's not efficiency, either, or technology, or even safety. It's exclusivity. It's one reason Rolls-Royce has become a legend building absolutely bespoke motor vehicles, and it's the reason Dodge, of all companies, is offering a new GTC trim level for its Viper supercar. Now, you might be asking what's so special and exclusive about a trim level? Well, in the Viper GTC's case, it gives owners access to a catalog of 8,000 shades of paint for the exterior, 24,000 "hand-painted" custom stripe patterns, 10 different wheel options, 16 interior trims and no fewer than six aerodynamic packages. That results in 25 million different configurations for the 645-horsepower snake. Most shockingly, the customization choices come at no additional cost on the GTC model. And it's only the start. Ordering a GTC will enroll customers in a unique VIP program called Viper Concierge, which according to Dodge, "offers an exclusive point of contact throughout the custom Viper build process." In other words, buyers will be given the means to stay right on top of their car's production, through the 140-to-160-hour painting process, which itself will be fully documented with pictures and through a mobile-friendly website, to the actual construction of their GTC. The Concierge process will start with the ordering stage, which will include Dodge sending customers a paint chip showing the owner's custom choosing, which they can confirm or refuse. Shortly thereafter, Dodge will send buyers a 1:18-scale "speed-form" replica in their chosen custom colors, once again to confirm or deny the build. Once the buyer's color and option selection is locked-in, that car becomes a one-of-one Viper for that year – no other buyer will be permitted to build a Viper to the same specifications. The concierge service also grants access to the Viper Ambassador Owner's Portal, where orderers can track their car's build process, receive weekly updates and share their excitement with (jealous) friends and family. And once the car is complete, it will be fitted with a custom dash plaque identifying its bespoke provenance – the owner can choose to have their name put on the badge, the car's nickname, or whatever they wish (Dodge will also ship each Viper with a second blank plate to include if the original owner sells the car).

MotorWeek relives '80s coupes with Dodge Daytona, Ford Escort EXP

Thu, Aug 6 2015

Get ready for a wave of nostalgia and the rapid realization of the huge progress in performance cars over the last 30 years. For its latest Retro Review, MotorWeek takes a look back at two, front-wheel drive coupes from the '80s that seem to have entirely vanished from the roads today. Both the 1986 Dodge Daytona CS and the 1986.5 Ford Escort EXP were considered affordable, sporty options in their day, but the passage of time hasn't been kind to either of their specs. The Daytona certainly looks the part of a performance machine with a body that's reminiscent of other '80s coupes, like the third-gen Chevrolet Camaro. However with 146 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque from a 2.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, acceleration wasn't exactly a strong suit. MotorWeek complained about copious torque steer, as well. The optional CS suspension upgrade package on this Daytona was apparently a nod to Carroll Shelby who was working with Dodge at the time. If anything, the Escort EXP withstands the test of time even worse. As a two-seat coupe, you might have expected Ford's engineers to really turn up the performance to fit the sporty image that the exterior conveyed. That didn't really happen, and depending on which model buyers ordered, they got either 86 horsepower with a 1.9-liter engine or the "high-output" version of that mill with 108 hp.
