1970 dodge charger 500, great restoration project I bought this car to restore. I just bought a numbers matching 70 R/T charger so I have to let this one go.

It was a 318 car originally and now has a healthy 400 in it. This is a very easy engine to stroke up to 500 or 512. Engine runs good and has headers already and does not smoke, was an a/c car but the components are missing from under the hood and dash. Transmission it came with was a 727 which was removed as it wasn't salvageable. So it was and is easily a running car, I drove it 1,000 miles when I bought it last year but will need a transmission of whatever flavor you want to put in it.

Very solid body with nice frame rails, floor pans are so-so, trunk pan was done in fiberglass by someone, it's functional, roof is solid, bottom of back window is solid, solid fenders, solid doors, may need some quarter patches as it has rust and bondo in the quarters as usual. Was originally a vinyl roof car and those trims are present. Burnt orange metallic car with matching interior. They spray canned the car a matte black and added centerline mags as a Fast-n-furious type look I suppose. Windows are all present and work, they had been tinted very dark. fender tag is missing, but unless you are going for a return to 'as-built' condition you won't miss it. Dash gauges are all present and worked but were not calibrated properly. Dash itself is in pretty good condition and that's good as that tends to be an expensive part.

Interior is original interior minus a headliner. Car ran and drove good but not sure if I would trust it on a long trip as it's biggest issue is wiring or lack of good wiring by previous owners. I have purchased a Ron Francis complete wiring kit for this car which can be included if the winning bidder wants to add it in for $400. Power drum brake car and the booster needs a new membrane as they don't have power but are manual drums right now.

Overall a solid car that presents well even in this condition. I gauge it as about a medium resto project. A lot of detail work if you're going for an as stock restoration. If you are just building up a street prowling Mopar than a lot of the work can be even easier as you're not confined by concourse standards. Would make an excellent build for someone who has a little time to create a nice racer or pro street style Charger. Or just throw in a transmission, better wiring harness and a new brake booster and drive as is! Being a 318 car originally you can build it up or clone it into an R/T without altering one of the very valuable cars.

The Car has a good street look and it can be built up to be a nasty street car or drag car. As I have several other cars to rebuild I need the money elsewhere. I was not going to sell this car but there's no sense in keeping it now that I have a fully restored R/T.

What's not to love about crowdsourcing? This idea, after all, has given us Kickstarter as well Local Motors, but automakers are starting to use the social platform to sell more cars (or just drum up a little PR). Both Dodge and Hyundai have used "crowd-funding" recently, and while Automotive News is reporting that neither has racked up big sales with this gimmick, both automakers are pleased with the attention.
For Hyundai, it teamed up with website Motozuma.com to help customers crowdsource money for a down payment, and the automaker matched this amount up to $500. Last year, this helped Hyundai sell an extra 1,600 units, a fraction of its total 2012 sales. That figure is far larger than Dodge fared with the Dodge Dart Registry - it netted only two sales and a small number of individual options. This registry did help University of Southern California fraternity crowdsource $18,000 to buy a Dart for a local Meals on Wheels, however. Despite the low sales figures, Dodge and Hyundai are considering their crowdsourcing programs a success since it helped them connect with younger buyers.

This is why we love Ralph Gilles. While in Italy hanging out with a group of Viper Club members in Europe, the SRT boss took the time to respond to a question directed at him on Instagram in regards to the future of Dodge.
Recent reports have painted a bleak picture for Dodge, but Gilles defended Chrysler's full-line brand by stating that the rumors are, "all rumors, Dodge is here to stay! It may get more focused going forward but not killed!" The idea of a "more focused" Dodge brand could lend some credibility to reports that the Grand Caravan and Durango are on their way out, which would leave Dodge solely as a car, or car-based, automaker.

Say goodbye to the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200

Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne outlined an update to the company's five-year business plan Wednesday, and among the changes, the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 sedans will soon be phased out. The company's presentation to investors states that the "market shift from cars to trucks and UVs [utility vehicles is] now seen as permanent shift in demand," and FCA wants to respond as quickly as possible. Killing the 200 and Dart will allow FCA to build more Jeep and Ram models at the Sterling Heights, MI, and Belvidere, IL, plants where the sedans were produced. We already knew FCA was planning to shift 200 and Dart production to Mexico, to free up the Sterling Heights facility for Ram 1500 production, and the Belivdere site for Jeep Cherokee output. The Cherokee will move from its current home in Toledo, OH, to allow for increased Wrangler production. It's no shock that FCA wants to shift its focus to crossovers and trucks. In December 2015, for example, combined sales of the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 were 15,310. The Jeep Cherokee, which uses the same platform as the Dart and 200, outsold both models combined, with 24,049 sales. Both the Dart and 200 had troubles from the beginning. Marchionne recently blamed designers for the 200 not receiving a Consumer Reports 'recommended' rating, and the Dart was one of the lowest-scoring cars in a CR reliability study.
