Up for sale is a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T.  This is an ACTUAL R/T,  NOT a small block 318 Charger that someone stuck a 1977 Winnebago 440 in and slapped R/T badging on.   This car has been confirmed by MMC Detroit to be an original 1969 Charger R/T.  The partial VIN number was located on the radiator support and the drivers side trunk lid (see photos below).   Also see pictures of the original fender tag along with the replica tag that was created by MMC Detroit after the car was confirmed to be an actual 1969 Charger R/T.  This Dodge Charger R/T was built on Monday, December 30th, 1968 at the Hamtramck Assembly Plant in Hamtramck, Michigan.  The car rolled out of the factory with the following options which are confirmed  by the Fender Tag breakdown:

The entire drive line is date correct.  This means that the engine and transmission do not match the VIN number but they are out of another 1969 Charger.   The engine is an HP Block out of another 1969 Charger R/T as it is correctly stamped E440 HP which can also be seen in the photos. This engine block actually came from the same factory as the original one as the first two letters of the partial VIN on the block is 9B meaning that it is for a 1969 E Series and it was built in the Hamtramck, Michigan plant.

The E440 HP engine has been completely rebuilt and upgraded.  The upgrades to the motor include being bored .30 over, hardened valve seats for the heads, flat top TRW Forged Pistons, and Lunati Cam.  The points distributor has been replaced with a MSD system and Street Fire wires.  The 26 inch radiator has been upgraded to an aluminum 26” radiator and shroud combination with dual 12” fans.  The oil pan has been upgraded to a 7 quart Milodon with a high volume oil pump.  The carburetor has been upgraded to a Holley Ultra Performance 750 Double Pumper with Black anodized billet aluminum metering blocks and base plate with black hardware.  The intake is an aluminum Edelbrock Torker II.  Also added to the build was a new pair of Hooker Headers.  The entire exhaust system is a new TTI system from the headers all the way through the correct stainless steel exhaust tips.

The 1969 Big Block 727 Transmission has been completely rebuilt.  The torque converter has been replaced with a 2800 stall convertor to match up correctly with the Lunati Cam.  Every part of this drive train was thought out prior to purchasing any parts and all professional suggestions were taken into account to make sure that all the parts complimented each other so the car would run at its maximum potential.

The center section is a completely rebuilt 1968 489 case with 3.55 Posi-traction gears which is what the car came with originally.  The posi unit has been upgraded from the cone style to the clutch style for more durability and strength.  The drive shaft has been balanced and the U-Joints have been replaced.

The entire brake system has been replaced.  The car came factory with power front disc brakes and rear drums.  The brake booster and master cylinder has been upgraded to a Hydro Brake Boost system which increases braking power and stopping ability.  This brake system is unbelievable.  This car stops better than any new car I've ever driven.  All the brake lines have been replaced and the rear drums are new.

The front wheel bearings and rear axle bearing have been replaced.  All four shocks are new and the rear shocks are air equipped so the rear height can be adjusted if need be.  The rims and tires are brand new.  The front rims are 15x7 Chrysler Steel Wheels and are wrapped in BF Goodrich Tires.  The rear rims are 15x10 Chrysler Steel Wheels and are wrapped in 295/50/15 BF Goodrich Tires.  This is as wide as you can go in the rear of these cars without making any adjustments or running tubed tires.  It gives the car an amazing stance and great traction while driving.

All the lights and gauges work including the hood mounted turn signal indicators and the hideaway headlights.  Both headlight actuators have been replaced and I will include a spare rebuilt actuator with the sale for the new owner to have.

The entire interior is new.  The dash is like brand new and has been powder coated black to ensure durability.  The gauges are in great shape.  The carpet is brand new.  The seats have been upholstered in the correct covers.  The steering wheel is correct to the car and the horn works properly.  The radio is in great shape.  There is power to the radio but I do not have any speakers hooked up to it as I do not care to listen to the radio, I'd much rather listen to the car.  The headliner is also brand new.  All the interior lights work including the center console light that turns on when you open the doors.

The body of the car is rust free.  The previous owner had a new trunk floor put in and also a drivers side floor partial as you can see from the underside shot of the car.   I took a true undercarriage picture of the car.  Most people who sell these cars load up the undercarriage with undercoat spray to mask or hide imperfections in the undercarriage.  I left it alone and you can see the spot where the floor was repaired and you can see how solid the car is.  The only rust that is there is some very minor surface rust which is to be expected on a 45 year old car.

The original color of the car is “T5” Copper Metallic.  The previous owner painted it black.  When I scraped the trunk lid lip to get the partial vin code you can see the original color underneath the black.  According to the previous owner the color change to black was the only paint job this car ever saw.  I am pretty particular about paint and body work and I would give this paint job a 7 out of 10.  It could have seen some better block and sanding work.  Of course, every imperfection in the body work is magnified by 100 when you're dealing with a black car.  That said, this car is a hell of a driver.  It will turn heads everywhere you go and from 10 feet away you would say it was mint.

Minor Issues:    The bumpers are driver quality but could use a re-chroming.  They are in great shape and would be a great candidate to be sent out and made like new.  The only mechanical issue is a very minor leak in the steering box which made itself known after the build was done.  This leak does not effect anything in how the car drives and can be repaired if the new owner chooses to do so.  Other than that the car is good to go.

There is a reserve set on this car and it is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early should it sell before the auction ends.  My reserve is EXTREMELY reasonable considering the rarity of this car and how well it is rebuilt.  I have watched two other 1969 R/T's with “date correct” drive lines sell in excess of $50,000.  These two were the exact same options as this car as in a 440 with a 727 transmission.  This car is rebuilt mechanically front to back and with the reserve set where it is the new owner will be getting an ACTUAL 1969 R/T for a great price.  This car will bring joy and many good memories to the new owner for many years to come.  Before you ask, I am selling the car to fund a Mustang Cobra Jet 4-speed car I have just acquired.  If I didn't have that I wouldn't be selling.

TERMS OF THE AUCTION:  This is a binding contract.   The winning bidder will pay a non-refundable $500.00 deposit within 24 hours of the auction's end and full payment will be received within 7 days of the auctions end.   This payment will be made with cash or a wire transfer unless another form of payment is agreed upon beforehand.  If you have negative feedback do not bid, I will just cancel it.  Only bid if you have the finances available.  These auctions cost money to run and I do not have time for dreamers or people who aren't serious about buying the car.  As you can tell from my feedback I am a trusted E-Bayer and I go above and beyond for the people I deal with.  I have sold several cars on here and have done everything in my power to make the buying experience pleasant for the buyer.  My e-mail is synced to my cell phone so I will receive any questions when you send them and I will reply promptly.  If you wish to contact me personally you can call me at 315-868-7452.  I will entertain offers prior to the auctions end.  I may be interested in partial trades but it is going to have to be something really nice with cash on top.  The car is being sold as is, where is.  I will assist with shipping in any way I can.  Please feel free to ask any questions or call me.  Happy bidding.  The winner will not be disappointed!

On May-26-14 at 04:01:40 PDT, seller added the following information:

Couple of things to add...    The Redline Dog Dish hubcaps are the original Stainless Steel not the cheap aluminum aftermarket ones.  They are in great shape for their age.  Also, I have hundreds of pictures of this car but eBay only allows me to post 24.  I will be adding a photo of the original and duplicated fender tag as I have already been asked for a photo of this by a prospective buyer.  If you want to see something on the car please don't hesitate to ask.  I will gladly send any photo to an interested buyer.  Thanks for your interest!

Brits recreate iconic Bullitt chase scene

Tue, 13 May 2014

Recreating the famous chase scene from Bullitt has become almost an art form in its own right. We've seen it done in a music video, with scale models and even in commercials. There are few films that are as defined by a single scene as the 1968 classic. Even if you don't know a single beat of the plot, the Highland Green Ford Mustang racing a Dodge Charger through the hilly streets of San Francisco is famous. It's so well known that the Silverstone Classic has created a homage to promote its celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Mustang at this year's event in July.
Filmed around the famous UK circuit, the short film generally gets the key points of the scene right. It even has a green Volkswagen Beetle that keeps reappearing, as in the movie. Unfortunately, its Steve McQueen stand-in looks a little too old for the role. While the video shortens the chase considerably, it's still great to see these '60s behemoths leaning and sliding around the track. Scroll down for a touch of nostalgia thanks to one of the greatest scenes ever in cinema - we've got both the recreation and the original chase seen from the movie waiting for you.

Dodge not being dropped by Chrysler, CEO reaffirms

Mon, 16 Sep 2013

Dodge isn't going anywhere. Despite some rumor and speculation over the future of the crosshair grille and the cars that wear it, Dodge brand boss, Tim Kuniskis, sat down with TheDetroitBureau.com, explaining that the marque isn't going anywhere. His sentiments echo those of SRT boss Ralph Gilles, who told a group of enthusiasts in July that "Dodge is here to stay!"
Dodge's death won't be "a part of a master plan to consolidate brands," Kuniskis told TheDetroitBureau.com. Instead, the brand, which is ultimately under the command of Fiat/Chrysler CEO, Sergio Marchionne, will likely ditch some of its badge-engineered models, like the Dodge Grand Caravan. A more focused Dodge, which was something Gilles has already hinted at, will likely see it exploring areas of the market that haven't been exploited by other Chrysler brands.
Kuniskis, not surprisingly, wasn't willing to delve into any detailed product plans, telling TDB that the size of the brand's lineup "remains to be seen." Regardless of how big the brand actually ends up being (it is presently Chrysler's volume brand - and not by a little), hopefully the statements from Kuniskiss can put the rumors of a Dodge closure to bed.

Fiat Chrysler CEO says final merger talks with Peugeot going well

Thu, Jan 23 2020

BRUSSELS — Fiat Chrysler's chief executive Michael Manley said on Wednesday that merger talks with Peugeot owner PSAΒ  to create the world's No. 4 carmaker are progressing well and he hopes to have a deal within 12-14 months. Speaking to Reuters on the sidelines of an industry meeting, he said he doesn't expect any major obstacles that could delay a final agreement. "Talks are progressing really well," Manley said about negotiations with the French carmaker ahead of a briefing by the European automotive association (ACEA), of which he is president. His comments come a month after the two carmakers agreed to a binding deal worth about $50 billion to combine forces in response to a slowdown in global demand and mounting costs of making cleaner vehicles amid tighter emissions regulations. Manley's timeline for completing the deal by early 2021 is in line with a forecast made by the companies in December. Fiat and Peugeot are now getting into the details of how the merger will work, including choosing which vehicle platforms Β— the technological underpinnings of a vehicle Β— will fit which products in a combined company. Because customers in different locations still prefer vastly different cars, there is room for multiple platforms in a combined group, Manley said. "That global platform is an elusive beast," he added. "This concept of a massive global platform in my mind is almost a myth, but that doesnΒ’t mean to say weΒ’re not going to recruit significant volume." Related Video: Β  Β
