1969 DODGE CHARGER R/T 440 MAGNUM. NUMBERS MATCHING CAR. ORIGINAL 440 MAGNUM ENGINE AND 727 TORQUEFLITE 3 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CAR. ORIGINAL FACTORY GEARING STILL IN CAR. THE CAR IS NOT RUNNING AND WILL NEED TOWED OR TRAILERED.

I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THIS CAR IN 1985 AT TIME OF MY GRADUATION FROM HIGH SCHOOL. HAS BEEN WITH ME EVER SINCE BUT I HAVE LET IT GO AND I GUESS I NEED TO MOVE ON AND LET SOMEONE ELSE THAT HAS THE TIME AND MONEY TO GIVE IT A FIRST CLASS RESTORATION LIKE I WISHED I COULD DO.
THE CAR WAS LAST LICENCED IN 1997. ABOUT SEVEN YEARS AGO ITS 40 YEAR OLD WIRING GAVE OUT WITH A MELTDOWN AT THE STARTER RELAY (MORE ON THAT LATER) AND HAS BEEN SITTING OUTSIDE AND INSIDE EVER SINCE. I TOLD MYSELF I WILL GET AROUND TO ITS REPLACEMENT...BUT HAVE DECIDED TO PASS THE CAR ALONG. SO STARTING OFF I WILL LIST THE GOOD ...BAD..THE UGLY.. WITH AS MUCH DETAIL AS I CAN.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE MORE PHOTOS OR INFO I HAVE MISSED PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME AT MY E-MAIL THRU HERE AT E-BAY OR MY E-MAIL ... WOLFSBANEII@YAHOO.COM. PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS AS E-BAY SOMETIMES HAS A PROBLEM WITH ME TRYING TO SEND MORE PICS THRU A RESPONDING E-MAIL. ON A PURCHASING NOTE, MY LAST SALE I ACCEPTED PAY-PAL AS A PAYMENT SOURCE, I NO LONGER WILL ACCEPT PAY PAL DUE TO LOSING CLOSE TO 200.00 FOR THEIR PROCESSING FEE. SORRY FOR THE INCONVIENCE.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION DRIVE TRAIN:
AS STATED THIS IS THE ORIGINAL 440 MAGNUM ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION AND FACTORY GEARING. IT HAS BEEN SITTING A WHILE SO IT WILL NEED A GOOD REFRESHING OF THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE ,TRANSMISSION , OR DIFFERENTAL WHILE THE CAR WAS IN RUNNING ORDER. THE GEARING I BELIEVE  ARE 3:23 RATIO AND IS A POSI /SURE GRIP UNIT. IT IS AN A/C CAR BUT WAS NEVER HOOKED UP SINCE THE DAY I HAD IT. THE A/C PUMP IS STILL ON THE CAR BUT THE LINES , DRIER, RECIEVER, EXPANSION VALVE, AND  CONDENSOR ARE NOT WITH THE CAR. CAR HAS NOT SEEN HEADERS WITH THE FACTORY UP SWUNG MANIFOLDS STILL ON CAR. DUAL EXHAUST SYSTEM STILL PRETTY MUCH INTACT FROM WHAT I CAN SEE. CARB IS FACTORY ORIGINAL FOUR BARREL SET UP.
THE BAD NEWS AS THIS DEALS WITH THE ENGINE IS THE  WIRING HARNESS. THE WIRING FINALLY GAVE OUT AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO START IT ONE DAY. SMOKE ROLLED FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THE WIRING AT THE STARTER RELAY BURT AND SEVERAL WIRES WERE MELTED ALONG THE WAY TO THE BULKHEAD CONNECTOR ON THE FIREWALL. I AM NOT SURE HOW FAR THE MELTDOWN GOT AS FAR AS INSIDE THE CAR. I DON'T RECALL ANY FIRES UNDER THE DASH SO IT COULD HAVE STOPPED THERE. BUT IF YOU ARE GOING TO RESTORE THIS... THERE ARE NEW AND MORE RELIABLE REPLACEMENT HARNESSES OUT THERE NOW.

TIRES AND BRAKES :
THE TIRES ARE BRAND NEW... 215/70R/15 MOUNTED ON 15 INCH STEEL RIMS. THE TIRES ALONE ARE WORTH 300.00. THE ORIGINAL RIMS ARE LONG GONE AS I BOUGHT IT WITH AFTERMARKET RIMS INSTALLED AND SOLD THOSE WITH A PREVIOUS CAR. JUST TO SHOW HOW CLOSE TO AN ORIGINAL DODGE CHARGER THIS IS... THE DRIVERS SIDE STILL HAS THE LEFT HANDED THREADED LUG NUTS.
THE BRAKES ARE ORIGINAL 11 INCH DRUMS ALL THE WAY AROUND. IT DOES HAVE POWER BRAKES BUT THE ORIGINAL OWNER SAID THE BOOSTER WASN'T ORIGINAL, BUT IT WORKED FOR ME SO I NEVER REPLACED.

SUSPENSION AND STEERING:
FACTORY FRONT AND REAR SWAY BARS.. LEAST I THINK THE REAR IS ORIGINAL..LOOKS LIKE IT. LEAF SPRINGS IN REAR... TORSION BARS IN FRONT. I NEVER REPLACED THE BALL JOINTS OR TIE ROD ENDS WHILE I HAD THE CAR. IT DROVE STRAIGHT AND DIDNT WANDER , NO NOTICEABLE STRANGE TIRE WEAR SO I RAN IT AS IS. THE SUSPENSION SET UP IS VERY VERY STIFF... THERE IS NO BOUNCE TO THIS CAR AT ALL... VERY TIGHT. POWER STEERING WITH A VERY QUICK AND ULTRA RESPONSIVE WHEEL. I COULD SPIN THE WHEEL WITH JUST MY FINGERTIPS WHEN POWERED UP.

UNDER BODY:
THIS IS A UNI-BODY CAR. THE FRAME RAILS ARE SOLID AS WELL AS AROUND THE TORSION BARS. I UNDERCOATED ALL THE AREAS I COULD REACH WHEN I FIXED IT UP THOSE MANY YEARS AGO. THE FLOOR PANS ARE IN DECENT SHAPE AS FAR AS I KNOW. BUT... THE DRIVERS SIDE I HAD TO PATCHWORK UP AND SHOULD PROBABLY BE REPLACED. THE REAR DRIVERS I DIDNT TOUCH.AT THE TIME I WAS FIXING THE CAR, SHEET METAL WASNT AS AVAILABLE AS IT IS TODAY SO IT WAS TOUGH GETTING METAL REPLACEMENTS. SAME GOES WITH THE TRUNK. THE TRUNK WAS REPLACED WITH A PAN OUT OF A 1968 CHARGER. THERE ARE A FEW SMALL RUST THRUS IN THE TRUNK BUT CAN BE PATCHED OR REPLACED ...UP TO YOU. THE PASSENGERS SIDE FLOOR PANS, FRONT AND REAR I DIDNT REPLACE OR PATCH UP..WERE STILL IN GOOD SHAPE WHEN I WAS GOING THRU THE CAR.

EXTERIOR:
I NEVER HAD ACCESS TO A SANDBLASTER WHEN SO IT DOES HAVE A FEW ISSUES. PAINT IS FACTORY COLOR...NOT FACTORY PAINT. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICS...THERE ARE BUBBLES AND RUST IN AREAS ABOUT THE CAR. I HAVE MORE DETAILED PICTURES OF THE DAMAGED AREAS IF YOU WOULD LIKE A CLOSER VIEW.
THE DARK GREEN VINYL TOP HAS BUBBLED IN A LOT OF SPOTS SO UNDERLYING DAMAGE TO THE METAL IS EVIDENT. THESE CARS ARE KNOWN FOR RUST IN THE TUNNEL WINDOW CHANNEL. THIS WAS NO DIFFERENT WHEN I GOT THE CAR, I REPAIRED IT BUT TIME HAS BUBBLED THE REPAIRS.
THE GLASS IN THE CAR IS ALL ORIGINAL AND FACTORY TINT. ONLY DAMAGE IS A SMALL BULLS EYE IN THE FRONT WIND SHIELD THAT WAS REPAIRED MANY YEARS AGO. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR THE OWNER TOLD ME IT LEAKED AND NEEDED REPAIRED BUT I NEVER NOTICED ANY DAMPNESS OR WET CARPETING AT THE TIME. THE CAR WAS NOT EQUIPPED WITH POWER WINDOWS.
FRONT GRILL IS CRACK FREE AND LAST KNOWN THE HEADLIGHT DOORS STILL WORKED. HEADLIGHT DOORS ARE UNDAMAGED AS WELL.
FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS WILL NEED RE CHROMED. THERES NO RUST OR DENTS, BUT AS TYPICAL WITH THE BODY SHAPE, THE HOOD DRIPS ON THE BUMPER AND AFTER A FEW YEARS THE CHROME IS WORN AWAY IN TWO SPOTS. A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE BODY CARS.
THE CAR IS A STRIPE DELETE CAR WITH JUST THE R/T EMBLEMS ON ITS QUARTER PANELS AND HEADLIGHT DOOR.

INTERIOR:
CLASSIC CHRYSLER DARK GREEN INTERIOR. BUCKET SEATS. VINYL WITH BENCH REAR. REAR SEATS ARE LIKE NEW, PASSENGERS SEAT ALSO LIKE NEW. THE DRIVERS SEAT HAS A FEW RIPS IN THE UPRIGHT BUCKET. THE DASH IS LIKE NEW WITH NO CRACKS OR SPLITS. STEERING WHEEL IS CRACKED IN THE RIM BUT NOT MISSING PIECES. STANDARD  DASH SETUP WITH BLACK TRIM AND ROCKER SWITCHES. TO MY KNOWLEDGE ALL THE GAUGES EXCEPT THE CLOCK WERE IN WORKING ORDER. FACTORY RADIO WAS REPLACED WITH A CASSETTE UNIT... YES WAS STATE OF THE ART AT THE TIME. CARPET  WILL NEED REPLACED. THE HEADLINER HAS A FEW SMALL HOLES IN IT BUT OTHER WISE IN GREAT SHAPE.

TO SUM IT UP. THIS CAR IS IN NEED OF A GOOD RESTORATION. IT HAS GREAT POTENTIAL IN THE RIGHT HANDS AND WILL MAKE ONE HELL OF A HEAD TURNER WHEN FINISHED. THE BEST THING GOING FOR THIS IS IT IS A NUMBERS MATCHING, ORIGINAL R/T CAR THERES NOT MANY LEFT... AND THEY DONT MAKE THEM ANYMORE. (UNLESS YOU COUNT THE FOUR DOORS..BUT ANYWAY...) I HAVE INCLUDED THE FENDER TAG OPTION AS I HAVE GOTTEN A LOT OF REQUEST FOR ITS NUMBERS AND OPTION. THE PLATE ISNT IN THE BEST OF SHAPE SO I WILL DO MY BEST TO GET THE CODES RIGHT AS FOLLOWS:

VIF V88 26 END
G33 H51 J23? W21 M31 R11
A01 A04 B51 C16 C55 G11
 F3 C89? F8 212 246527
386 D32 XS29 L9B 291879

PAYMENT CAN BE MADE BY CASH, CHECK OR MONEY ORDER (CAR DOESNT LEAVE THE PROPERTY UNTIL CHECK OR MONEY ORDER CLEARS..USUALLY 10 DAYS) BANK WIRE TRANSFER. I DO NOT ACCEPT PAY PAL ANYMORE DUE TO ISSUE STATED ABOVE. I AM NOT INTERESTED IN TRADES SO PLEASE DONT OFFER. WHAT I AM ASKING FOR IS WHAT THE STARTING BID IS, PLEASE DONT ASK ME "HOW MUCH WILL I TAKE FOR IT"...ITS ALREADY LISTED. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. I HAVE DISCLOSED ALL THE ISSUES I KNOW OF AND HAVE MORE PICTURES OF THE CAR AVAILABLE TO YOU. IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION PLEASE CONTACT ME. PICK UP OF THE CAR IS THE BUYERS RESPONSABILITY .

THANK YOU AND HAPPY BIDDING, BEST OF LUCK.

Is America's last cheap minivan worth it?

Wed, Dec 16 2015

Take a good look at this beauty. Because once she's gone there may be no turning back. The minivan market has been completely decimated over the past fifteen years. I could list all the former brands (dead and alive) that once formed the lynchpin of parenthood for this inherently conservative market. But that would involve at least fourteen commas, three sets of parentheses, and possibly even one 2000s-style recount. Back then, middle-class America loved these people-movers and even the well-to-do were glad to load them up with unique luxuries such as power sliding doors, captain's chairs, integrated child seats, and DVD players that entombed cacophonous kids into a temporary silence. Back in the '90s, the minivan market regularly realized well over a million sold units a year. In 2000, minivans finally hit their familial peak of 1.4 million vehicles in a year with the help of two top-20 bestsellers: the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country. Today the minivan just isn't popular. This year it'll likely represent only a half-million in annual sales, with not a single minivan hitting America's top 30 in overall volume. But as I always tell folks, "If you want a deal, you have to hit 'em where they ain't." So you want a cheap and affordable minivan for cash money that isn't a 15-year-old Plymouth in purple? Does it have to be new? Really? Well, if you're married to that type of person, this Grand Caravan with the American Value Package is the cheapest thing going. Deals can also be had on the mini-minivan Mazda5, but since it's been discontinued due to low demand, let's focus on the still-popular Chrysler minivan. The cost for this 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan according to TrueCar is right around $19,500 depending on where you live in the USA. But let's take a look at the 2015 models instead since they tend to have even stronger discounts during the wintertime thanks to manufacturers and dealers who are busy shoveling out all this older inventory. If you opt for a 2015 model instead, you're looking at a market price right around $17,800 and luckily these minivans are still sitting in multitude. Wanna click those rebate and incentive buttons? If you currently lease or finance a FIAT or Chrysler product, have AAA coverage, and finance the car with FCA, you can make off like the proverbial bandit for a price of only $15,229 before the dealer inflicts their bogus fee money dance.

Only in Japan: Dodge van one-make racing series is a thing

Wed, Jul 15 2015

Japan seems willing to embrace a level of automotive insanity that many other places lack. Whether it's 1,200-horsepower Nissan GT-Rs blasting through tight, tree-lined mountain roads or advertisements with dances for the Toyota Prius Plug-in, the country definitely has a unique way of expressing a love for autos. The D-Van Grand Prix might be one of our favorite examples yet of crazy Japanese car culture, because the annual, one-make race at the Ebisu Circuit is exclusively for heavily customized Dodge vans. Like many great things, this wonderfully crazy idea came from a little rule breaking. D-Van Grand Prix organizer Takuro Abe was at a track event for a motorcycle racing school, and vans were used to haul the bikes around. During lunch someone came up with the idea for a race. Ignoring that the big machines weren't actually allowed on the circuit, the drivers headed out. The popularity has just grown since then. These days, the racing vans absolutely aren't the stock machines from the event's inspiration. In addition to stripped interiors and track rubber that you might expect, the list of mods for them is a mile long. For every possible advantage, the racers fit them with things like Brembo brakes, cross-drilled rotors, heavy-duty transmissions, and much more. Seeing vans lumbering around the track is very weird at first, but the racers take the competition very seriously. These folks even employ all sorts of little tricks to coax the most from the machines. This is a fascinating motorsports story, but be sure to turn on the subtitles to understand the interviews with the competitors.

Chrysler banks $507 million in Q2, trims 2013 earnings forecast

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

Chrysler has some good news and some bad news. First, profits were up 16 percent over the second quarter of 2012, bringing the Auburn Hills, Michigan-based manufacturer $507 million on the back of strong demand for trucks and SUVs (a recurring theme this quarter, particularly in the US). Q2 revenue was up as well, from $16.8 billion in 2012 to $18 billion in 2013. The bad news is that the Pentastar's overall earnings forecast for net income in 2013 has been trimmed from $2.2 billion to between $1.7 and $2.2 billion, according to Automotive News.
In addition to the adjusted net income forecast, Chrysler tweaked its operating profit from $3.8 billion to between $3.3 and $3.8 billion. This has gone largely unexplained by Chrysler, perhaps hoping the news of a three-percent increase in its transaction prices for Q2 will allow it to sweep this adjustment under the rug.
The star of the show for Chrysler has been its US sales, which saw a 10-percent jump, both bettering the industry average of eight percent and improving over the same stretch of 2012. As with the increase in transaction prices, Chrysler has the new Ram pickup and Jeep Grand Cherokee to thank. Perhaps most worrying from this report, though, is that every brand in the automaker's stable saw an increase in sales... except for the Chrysler brand itself.
