1969 1970 Dodge Charger Se General Lee Tv Show Replica Mopar! Big Block! on 2040-cars
Bristow, Indiana, United States
Ok, I am letting go of my beloved General Lee Charger. Due to circumstances out of my control, here is your chance. Feel free to ask anything because I am VERY thorough and I know this car front to back, inside and out. I will give you an honest description of my car for better or worse. I have invested a lot of money, blood, sweat and tears into this car. This car looks amazing in pictures but is in NO WAY near a $75,000 show car. Bid with 100% confidence. This car is by far the most fun I have ever had owning a car and was a "bucket list" item for me. Now it is time to pass it on.
This car has been a General Lee since the late 1980's-early 1990's. I found it in a field. It was in need of everything from brakes, interior, rear end to motor and transmission. I bought it with the intention of NEVER selling it. Therefore I spent a fortune on it. This car has had a colorful life. The car has a rough look to it which makes people assume that it is a "real" General Lee when they see it. Overall the car starts, runs and drives GREAT! Just a fun car to take the kids out in, drive in parades or just draw a crowd anywhere. Body: This car is a 1970 Charger with a '69 front clip. The lower quarter panels are full of old Bondo and dated, poor body work. Pics say a lot but I will answer any specifics you may have anytime! Front subframe could use a repair or replaced, but rears appear to be solid. Paint on the front end, roof and trunk lid is different from the doors and quarters. Looks close but still obviously a shade different. Dents, dings, scratches and so on. There has been bondo work done to the surrounding of the rear window as well. Not sure what was going on there. Trunk pan is in rough shape but was replaced at some point with something else. Most of the body work appears to have been done by hillbilly professionals prior to my acquisition of the car lol. Interior: All factory original seats professionally reupholstered. The floors had been patched up front with factory style patch panels and looked pretty good. Interior panels painted tan but done nicely. Speedometer works. Thats it. No other gauges work. Aftermarket oil, temp and fuel gauges work. Horn works perfect though. Stereo with Ipod jack and vintage Cobra CB works great! All exterior lights work fine (Hi/Lo, turn, brake and so on) and so does the dome light. Headlight doors do NOT open and are not hooked up to anything. They have to be manually opened for night time driving. I met Jimmy Best (Rosco) in person and had him sign my glove box lid. Roll bar is as close as I could get to TV show quality. It is muffler tubing and all welded together and bolted to the floor. It would NOT protect you in a roll over! Engine/Trans: Engine is a STRONG '66 model 383 Commando V8 4bbl with a Weiand intake and new Edelbrock #1406 4bbl. New starter, all new electronic ignition system, alt., radiator, hoses, and so on. Engine runs SMOOTH and has tons of power! No smoke or issues. 727 Torque Flight transmission shifts STRONG too! Car is FAST and will burn the tires off! Suspension: I installed a new front disc brake conversion kits including spindles, sway bar bushings, lower ball joints, rotors, calipers and so on. Front end NEEDS a proper alignment. I never did have it aligned after the work was completed. Wheels are Vector "01" Limited General Lee editions. Rear end is an 8 3/4 #741 case with 3:55 gears. All new rear brake lines and shoes. New gas tank as well and sender. In closing we have had a TON of fun with this car. YES it is rough around the edges, YES it needs a few this and thats but it is more fun than anything I have EVER owned. People walk right past $50,000 hot rods to line up and get pictures in this car. No joke. Anyway, SERIOUS buyers only please. Always here to help with shipping. Please do not email asking "What's your bottom dollar". I have priced the car accordingly and it is VERY reasonable for a BIG BLOCK, TAN INTERIOR, DISC BRAKE General Lee! Car is titled, insured and plated to me. Clear title in hand. Also I am not interested in ANY trades of ANY kind. If the car does not sell here in this listing, it will NOT be relisted. It will remain in my garage. Thanks and best of luck to all! (812)631-9244 Car is sold "As Is" and "Where Is" obviously. I welcome and encourage potential buyer to come and inspect the car in person. We can take it for a drive! I prefer "cash on the barrelhead" but will take a cashiers' check. NO PAYPAL for full amount! Take care, I'm gone. On Dec-31-13 at 07:54:24 PST, seller added the following information:Well folks I sure appreciate the calls and emails so far. Been a real pleasure. It is killing me to accept the fact that my car will be sold. Whoever wins the auction will gain instant celebrity status though. That is a fact! You will become "the people with the General Lee". It is amazing the amount of people who still relate to these cars from our childhood TV heros. In fact, if you Google "General Lee", 9 out of 10 images are of the Charger and not the real general. That says something about pop culture for sure. These are the most recognized cars on the planet and will never go out of style. Thanks for the interest and again, please ask anything at anytime. On Dec-31-13 at 17:28:49 PST, seller added the following information:I forgot to post engine pics so here is a quick look under the hood and at the floors prior to carpet installation. Sorry about that. |

Dodge Viper saved from crusher by students, but will it last?
Tue, 16 Sep 2014The saga of the Washington state community college hoping to keep its allegedly pre-production Dodge Viper out of the maw of the crusher is going strong. Not only does the school still have the car, but there's a chance that the college might even get to keep it.
The whole situation flared up in March when the South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, WA, received a notice from Chrysler Group that requested that the school's Viper be destroyed. The automaker had loaned the muscle car to it about a decade ago to use for educational purposes in its auto tech classes. With the Dodge growing long in the tooth, "it is unlikely that these vehicles offer any educational value to students," the company said in its press release on the matter.
However, the college balked at destroying its Viper, despite the fact it had signed a contract with Chrysler Group to do so. The school further claimed that its car was incredibly special because it was a pre-production example and just the fourth one made back in 1992. Although, as we pointed out at the time, the photos of the school's vehicle showed a coupe that looked like a newer Viper GTS.
Chrysler's Jefferson North plant builds 5-millionth SUV [w/video]
Thu, 15 Aug 2013Chrysler's Jefferson North Assembly Plant opened in 1992 for production of the first Jeep Grand Cherokee, but in the subsequent years, the Detroit plant has gone on to produce some of the company's biggest SUVs including the Jeep Commander and Dodge Durango. Earlier this week, the plant produced its five-millionth SUV, which, fittingly, was a Grand Cherokee.
Celebrating the plant's five-millionth unit, the silver 2014 Grand Cherokee was promptly donated to the USO. In addition to this milestone SUV, Chrysler also had a near-perfect 1993-95 ZJ Grand Cherokee on hand for the photo op. Scroll down for the Chrysler press release as well as a video showing some of the speeches from the celebration.
This 93-car Iowa auction is like a Big 3 classic muscle museum
Tue, Aug 27 2019Bill "Coyote" Johnson has been buying cars since high school and has amassed a collection totaling 113 vehicles, according to NBC 6 News. But time has changed his motivations and priorities, and he's decided to auction 93 of those cars, many of which are classic muscle from Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Plymouth and Pontiac. The megasale will take place Sept. 14, 2019, in Red Oak, Iowa, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. A 1969 Plymouth Road Runner infected Coyote with a love for Detroit muscle when he was just a teenager, and his desire quickly turned into an obsession. He's spent the past 40 years finding, buying and working on a variety of makes and models. Unlike some collectors, Coyote didn't discriminate against certain brands and has rides from each of the Big 3 automakers. Included in the auction are Camaros, Satellites, Super Bees, Chargers, Challengers, Barracudas, Coronets, GTOs, Mustangs, Cutlasses and others. Possibly the most intriguing aspect of the auction is that all of these cars will be sold as-is with no reserve. Many of them will need work, depending on quality standards, but this seems like a golden opportunity to find a classic car without leaving a bank account in shambles. The auctions are open for bidding online now, and the full auction will take place on September 14. Check out the full listings and bid at VanDerBrink Auctions.
