The vehicle being auctioned is a 1973 Challenger Rallye Edition that the successful bidder can drive home.  The 318 V-8 is equipped with a 2 barrel carburetor and exhaust headers.  The Torque Flight transmission shifts normally.  It has a pleasing, strong exhaust note that attracts positive attention. The car is equipped with manual steering and brakes.  The windshield wipers work as does the horn.  The vehicle is being re-listed due to a non-paying high bidder.

Interior:  original Dark Green with decent carpet and some cracks and visible wear in the vinyl upholstery which is typical for a 40 year old car.  However, it is still functional and can be left as is, updated or recovered.  It has a working factory tachometer, speedometer and gauges including water temperature, amp gauge and fuel gauge.  The factory oil pressure gauge is not working but an accessory column mounted oil pressure gauge is in place and working.  The car has a working aftermarket radio.  The dash pad and door panels are all in decent condition but of course show common wear and tear for a vehicle of this age.  The car has an original Challenger console with SlapStik T-handle but also had the automatic transmission selector quadrant on the column which leads me to believe that the car had the console and shifter added somewhere in its' life.

Exterior:  The car still wears original rare Lime Green color.  The car has likely been refinished and has had typical body/rust repair/touch up work done to the quarters and front inner fender wells.  The floors are solid.  I want to emphasize that the car shows reasonably well, is a driver and can be driven and enjoyed as is or can be upgraded/restored over time.  The paint has some fading on the hood, roof and trunk panel.  There is surface bubbling on both lower rear quarters behind the rear wheels.  I believe that the driver's door has been replaced with a door from another Challenger at some point. The window crank mechanism for the driver's window is not operating. The chrome on both bumpers is very decent for the age of the car and looks good! Speaking of bumpers, '73 was the first year of 5 mile per hour bumpers that protruded from the front and rear bumpers.  All 4 have been removed and are in the trunk to either be put in storage or remounted.  All glass is in good condition.  One of the Rallye Wheel trim rings is battered but in place on the car. The trunk floor is all there with the exception of one small hole about the size of a common nail head. Jack and spare are in the trunk.

I have the original Broadcast Sheet (build sheet) for the car (see photo).  The fender tag is in place and the VIN numbers on the New York State Title, fender tag, Broadcast Sheet and windshield VIN tag all agree.

If you have questions, please ask them prior to bidding.  If you would like to schedule a pre bid inspection, let me know. If you are an International Bidder, I will be happy to work with you.  However, you must be responsible for all international shipping arrangements.

The commerative plates displayed on the front and rear of the car are not part of the sale.

Summary:  This is a car that can be driven and enjoyed!  I have tried to answer as many questions as possible and if you have others, let me know.  The car is for sale locally and as a result the auction could end early.

Dodge offers 100 years of solid advice in new ad

Fri, 18 Apr 2014

This is a cool ad. Dodge, which is celebrating its centennial this year, recruited some of its peers to see what you should and shouldn't do in life. Of course, some are obvious - don't complain, learn from your mistakes and live for now.
Then again, some are less obvious. Some, actually, are downright awesome. Towards the end, each piece of advice is interspersed with clips of Dodge's redesigned Challenger smoking its tires. Really, this ad feels like it'd be worthy of a Super Bowl spot. This commercial's personal nature is really in keeping with some of the big game's most interesting ads, like the Imported From Detroit commercial, the Farmer ad and Maserati's surprise clip from this year's game.
Take a look below and let us know what you think.

FCA issues recall for 300k Dodge Chargers over airbag sensor

Sun, Aug 2 2015

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has issued another recall, this time for the Dodge Charger. The issue stems from an overly sensitive control module that could deploy the side-curtain airbag and seatbelt pretensioner if the door is kicked or slammed too hard. The recall affects certain Charger sedans from the 2011-2014 model years, specifically those manufactured between May 6, 2010, and June 5, 2014. All told, that amounts to an estimated 322,078 units, including 284,153 in the United States, another 13,169 in Canada, 2,484 in Mexico, and 22,272 overseas. Owners of those vehicles will be asked to bring their vehicles in to their local dealers to have the Occupant Restraint Control module recalibrated, and are being advised in the meantime to "exercise caution when closing doors." If this issue sounds familiar, that's because the automaker issued a similar recall for Ram trucks just last week, affecting over 667,000 four-door pickups in the United States alone. Following a further investigation into its passenger cars, FCA found a similar problem with the Charger, whose door design mandated specific calibration of the module in question for that model. The company says it is aware of three minor injuries potentially related to the issue, but no accidents. This campaign is just the latest in a string of recall-related issues to have emerged from Auburn Hills recently. The Ram truck recall was issued in tandem with another airbag-related recall for a further million pickups. Prior to that it called in another 1.4 million vehicles to update their infotainment system software due to a security issue. Another 350,000 Dodge Journeys were called in before that to have their engine covers secured. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is expected to issue the company a massive hundred-million-dollar fine for failing to follow proper procedures related to safety and recall issues. Meanwhile, another NHTSA investigation that could have affected 4.7 million units was closed with no further action deemed necessary. And an appeal court judge in Georgia reduced the damages the company will be ordered to pay the family of a child who died in a fire in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Statement: Occupant Restraint Control Module August 1, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is conducting a voluntary safety recall to recalibrate control modules on approximately 284,153 U.S.-market sedans to prevent inadvertent side-curtain air-bag and seatbelt pre-tensioner deployment.

Rare Dodge Daytona found in barn heads for auction

Tue, Dec 15 2015

An American icon is headed to Mecum's Kissimmee, Florida auction next January. Charlie Lyons, owner of a restoration shop focused on old Chrysler products, got a lead on a two-owner 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona that had been sitting in a barn in Glenwood, Alabama for decades. Dodge built 560 Charger Daytonas (Canada and US production) to homologate the model for NASCAR racing, and then that car and the successor Plymouth Superbird terrorized NASCAR tracks for 18 months. The production car, however, 18 feet long and considered ugly, wasn't popular at the time, so many were beat up or simply disappeared. Around 385 are thought to exist today. Lyons said the first owner of this car was the town judge, who bought it for his wife. In 1974 the second owner - just 18 years old at the time - bought it for $1,800 so he could drive it to Panama City, Florida, for Spring Break, and had flames painted on the front fenders and the scallops trimmed in white. Otherwise this barn find is complete and stock, with matching numbers throughout, R4 Charger Red paint and a white tail, bucket seats, center console, three-speed TorqueFlite automatic, and 20,553 miles on the 440-cubic-inch Magnum V8. Hot Rod has the long story of how Lyons found the car and convinced the owner to sell for what he jokingly called "a shoebox full of folded money." Hagerty says a concours-worthy model can command $262,000. Mecum's pre-sale estimate for this Charger Daytona is $150,000 to $180,000. That sounds steep, but Mecum did sell another perfectly restored Hemi-powered 1969 Charger Daytona for $900,000 at this year's Kissimmee auction to actor David Spade. Related Video:
