1970 Dodge Challenger Survivor No Rust Original Paint Hemi Orange Runs Great on 2040-cars
Pierson, Michigan, United States
This is a 1970 Dodge Challenger that is a true survivor, this car has spent most of its life in California and now resides in Michigan, it still retains its original Hemi orange finish and perfect original black interior, it is optioned with air conditioning, power steering, am radio, console and bucket seats, body side moldings, and hemi orange paint, as you can tell by the pictures the body and underside of this car are in fantastic shape, it is easy to tell it has bean well cared for, you can see all of the factory inspection marks all over the chassis, the part number on the drive shaft is still present, the interior of this car is amazing, the dash pad is perfect, the seats are perfect, the dash pieces all look factory fresh, the wood grain wheel has little wear, the carpet and headliner are original also and look great, somebody sewed up a spot in the headliner at one time on the right side, but still looks good, I put a can of R-12 in the A/C and it kicks on and blows cold, the 318 engine runs great and is the #s matching original, the trans shifts great but has bean replaced at one time, the car has BFG tires with very few miles on them mounted on the factory painted steel wheels and dog dish caps, they have a great look, the body side moldings did a good job keeping the body from being dented up but they do have some damage on them, I have acquired a few good ones to replace the dinged up ones, there is a small spot of corrosion at the bottom of the rear window but it is very small, at some point a mirror was mounted to the top of the RF fender (two small holes) the right front headlamp bezel has a small dent on the leading edge as does the RR quarter molding, under the hood is very original with only maintenance items being replaced (plugs wires, voltage regulator and water valve, belts hoses) this car is a fantastic example of an original 70 challenger. I encourage anybody to come and look at it for yourself, call with any questions Rich 616-262-6219, I may end the auction early as I have it for sale locally, make offers you may own it, buyer responsible for shipping but I will help where needed. 2000.00 deposit within 24 hrs of auction ending. |

What's the deal with Chrysler demanding colleges crush their Vipers? [w/video]
Fri, 07 Mar 2014Students and teachers at a Washington community college are up in arms following an order from Chrysler that it must destroy the pre-production Dodge Viper that was donated to the school's automotive technology program ten years ago.
The Viper in question is said to be the fourth off the production line, based on its VIN, and has had its emissions controls disabled, allowing its ten-cylinder engine to produce 600 horsepower, according to a report from Yahoo! Autos. As one of the first Vipers ever produced, the school's AT instructors claim it could be worth $250,000 in a museum, while a local news report purports that Jay Leno once tried to purchase the car, but the sale was prevented by Chrysler.
As pointed out by our friends at Autobytel, though, there are a lot of things in this story that don't quite add up. Immediately noticeable from the news report embedded below - which shows the car at South Puget Sound Community College - is that the car in question is not a 1992 model. When the Viper went on sale in 1992, it was only available as an RT/10 with a (flimsy) soft top, like the red car shown above. But the car featured in the report from KING5 News (inset image) is clearly a hardtop Viper GTS, which didn't enter production until 1996. And even if, as reported by a local newspaper, the hardtop featured is a prototype, it doesn't explain the lack of another iconic feature of the first Vipers - their distinctive side pipes. This kind of pokes holes in the school's argument that this is the fourth Viper to ever roll down the line. At best, this appears to be a pre-production Viper GTS.
Top torque-to-weight ratios under $100k, $50k and $25k
Tue, 07 Oct 2014Horsepower may steal a lot of headlines, but the always-more-complex torque figure is often a critical one for both the workingman and the motoring playboy. The measure of rotational force represents the twist that can liquefy one's tires or haul one's horse trailer. Good stuff.
It follows then, that as with the horsepower-to-weight list that we assembled for you a few months ago, a list of cars that offer the most pound-feet with the fewest pounds to carry, is an interesting one to break down. Sure, there's a big difference in how the torque is applied from a turbocharged six-cylinder in a Swedish luxury sedan and a massive heavy-duty truck's turbo-diesel. But being the car/stat geeks that we are, we think it's kinda neat that those two vehicles rank near each other where torque and weight intersect.
As with the horsepower list, we've given you figures as pounds per every one pound-foot. Again broken down into broad price categories, we've got a mixed bag of 2014 and 2015 models here, too. Every effort has been made to select the most up-to-date prices and specs, and we've also to omitted some '14 cars that won't be re-upped after the ongoing yearly changeover.
2016 Dodge Viper ACR priced from $117,895
Tue, May 12 2015Fancy getting your hands on the all-new Dodge Viper ACR? Prepare to shell out at least $117,895, not counting destination or gas-guzzler tax. Those two add $1,995 and $2,100, respectively, for an out-the-door price of $121,990. That's $32,900 more than a base 2015 Viper, or the equivalent of a Challenger with a few options. As we explained previously, the ACR model doesn't do much for outright power – the 8.4-liter V10 offers up only five more ponies than before – but it does add suspension and aerodynamic upgrades that make this particular Viper far more potent on the track. The order books are officially open for the ACR, so if you've got the coin, get in touch with your local dealer. Until then, head into Comments and let us know what you think of the ACR's pricing. Would you shell out $118,000 for the ultimate Viper?
