Up for auction is my 1970 Dodge Challenger.  It is a definite project, not for the faint of heart, however if you have some body working skills or another car that you need good paperwork on & parts, here it is!

First off, I bought this car from the original owner, who had given it to his son and for whatever reason, they thought they would make a pimp-tastic ride by cutting the middle of the roof out.  This would have been devastating if they had a chance to drive it that way, but virtually the next day when they went out for a ride, they got clobbered in the drivers door, so here we are.  The car has sat for 20 years.  Floor boards are rusty due to wet carpet.  The trunk floor is good and I have another roof (pictured) which is pretty rusty but usable (this is what happens when you take someones word and pay to have it shipped from PA).  I also have a nice door and a usable front fender, you would still need the quarter panel and outer wheel house.  The motor turns freely but I have not started it.  The car does not roll well due to a broken rear leafspring.  It has brand new tires that have never been on the road (purchased 2 months ago).  I do body work for a living, this is a highly restorable car with most of the parts included and a clear title.  My reserve is fair, I have seen a lot worse cars go for a lot more than I am asking.

Please feel free to ask questions or request additional pics.  I can help arrange shipping, however the car does not run nor does it roll easily, also there are the extra parts that go with it - so I would recommend that you pick it up.

Thanks.

Dodge, Hyundai crowdsourced-funding sites deemed successes

Wed, 05 Jun 2013

What's not to love about crowdsourcing? This idea, after all, has given us Kickstarter as well Local Motors, but automakers are starting to use the social platform to sell more cars (or just drum up a little PR). Both Dodge and Hyundai have used "crowd-funding" recently, and while Automotive News is reporting that neither has racked up big sales with this gimmick, both automakers are pleased with the attention.
For Hyundai, it teamed up with website Motozuma.com to help customers crowdsource money for a down payment, and the automaker matched this amount up to $500. Last year, this helped Hyundai sell an extra 1,600 units, a fraction of its total 2012 sales. That figure is far larger than Dodge fared with the Dodge Dart Registry - it netted only two sales and a small number of individual options. This registry did help University of Southern California fraternity crowdsource $18,000 to buy a Dart for a local Meals on Wheels, however. Despite the low sales figures, Dodge and Hyundai are considering their crowdsourcing programs a success since it helped them connect with younger buyers.

2003-04 Dodge Viper recalled for sudden airbag deployment

Fri, 15 Feb 2013

As if driving the old Dodge Viper (not the fancy new SRT model) isn't intimidating enough, imagine trying to wrangle that V10 beast and then suddenly having the airbags deploy. Yikes. That's apparently what could happen to some 3,660 Viper models from the 2003 and 2004 model years, and as such, Chrysler has issued a recall.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, part of the car's airbag control module may fail, causing the bags or seatbelt pre-tensioners to deploy without warning while the vehicle is in operation. That's a dangerous scenario in any car, let alone one offering insane horsepower a near-total paucity of safety nannies should things get squirrely.
Owners will be notified this month about the recall, though a remedy is not expected to be available until later this year. Scroll down for the full NHTSA statement.
