Up for auction is a 1970 Dodge Challenger rolling body without a motor or transmission. It started out as a 6 cyl, auto. It has an 8-3/4" rearend from an R/T of the same year. The front spindles have been changed from drums to discs using 1976 A-body spindles and calipers. The rotors are rusty and not usable as I just put them on to move it around. A lot of the front suspension bushings have been changed out with new ones. Ball joints are all new. The K-member with power steering box was taken out of the car and cleaned and painted gloss black. The linkage, tie-rod ends, have not been changed out yet. The steering column is out of the car as it was recently painted and have not had time to install again. The intereior of the car is shot as shown in picture. The dash is mostly disassembled and was being taken out to set an air conditioning unit (from the same year R/T) in place to finish drilling a few holes to mount it later. The front floorboards have rust  (more in the drivers side) and the trunk has been patched in the past but still would need to be replaced to make it right. I have the Grille and only one of the headlight bezel. Have most of the inside plastic panels, some may be faded chipped, etc. Glass is all good with some fading on the front windshield. The other windows have been replaced with factory tinted glass except for the drivers side which is included. The body is in pretty good shape with a few dings and small rust spots which can be fixed. The underhood area has been cleaned, sanded, primed, almost ready for paint.  Also included is a 1968 Fury 3 4-door with 383 V-8, automatic which had been converted in the past to electronic ignition. This was also a running car I drove back to where I live when I bought it. It ran fine but it has set a couple of years since then and in the meantime 2 of the tires have gone down-one is almost off the rim, and a critter had made lunch out of some of the spark plug wires. This would be a good swap into the Challenger as the K-member was set up for use with a small or big block. This was what I was planning before losing storage of these vehicles. Have clear titles for both vehicles also. This is a project deal and both cars are included and are being sold As-Is. NOTE--Winning bidder to pick-up at location. I cannot deliver.

Star Wars Episode VII ad is a force for Dodge

Fri, Dec 18 2015

Happy Star Wars day! Some of you might be bleary eyed and begging for coffee after attending midnight screenings of Star Wars, Episode VII: The Force Awakens last night (*raises hand*) but the show must go on. And for Dodge, that show has been all about Star Wars. While the entirety of FCA joined the tie-in marketing campaign for the long-awaited JJ Abrams blockbuster, Dodge made out the best. According to Wards Auto, the brand's The Force Gathers spot took the top spot in this week's most engaging automotive ads, capturing nearly a quarter of share-of-voice ratings and garnering over a quarter-of-a-million earned online views. Since the ad began airing earlier this month, it's scored over 430,000 views on YouTube alone. The relatively simple ad evokes Darth Vader and his legions of storm troopers. In the 30-second spot, a black Viper leads six long columns of white Chargers, Challengers, and Durangos while John Williams' iconic Imperial March blares in the background. It ends at the stand of an overwhelmed pair of valets outside a screening for Episode VII. We've embedded the spot at the top of the page if you haven't seen it. Check it out, and may the Force be with you. Star Wars, Episode VII: The Force Awakens is in theaters today. Related Video:

7 major automakers to build open EV charging network

Wed, Jul 26 2023

A new joint venture established by BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis will build a new North American electric vehicle charging network on a scale designed to compete with Tesla's industry-benchmark Supercharger network. The 30,000-plus planned new chargers will accommodate both Tesla's almost-standard North American Charging System (NACS) and existing automakers' Combined Charging System (CCS) options, effectively guaranteeing compatibility with the vast majority of current and upcoming electric models — whether they're from one of the involved automakers or not.  "With the generational investments in public charging being implemented on the Federal and State level, the joint venture will leverage public and private funds to accelerate the installation of high-powered charging for customers. The new charging stations will be accessible to all battery-powered electric vehicles from any automaker using Combined Charging System (CCS) or North American Charging Standard (NACS) and are expected to meet or exceed the spirit and requirements of the U.S. National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program." Critically, the automakers involved will have a say in how the charging tech is implemented, guaranteeing that the hardware will play nicely with each automaker's in-house charging systems. Hyundai and Kia, for example, were hesitant to jump on board the Tesla NACS bandwagon earlier this year over concerns that the Supercharger network is insufficient for powering the two automakers' 800-volt charging systems; similar tech is used by Volkswagen and Porsche.  In addition to providing much-needed capacity and high-output charging for America's growing fleet of electric cars and trucks, the new network will integrate seamlessly with each automaker's in-app and in-vehicle features, rather than forcing customers to use third-party tools and payment systems, as is the case with some existing public charging infrastructure.  "The functions and services of the network will allow for seamless integration with participating automakersÂ’ in-vehicle and in-app experiences, including reservations, intelligent route planning and navigation, payment applications, transparent energy management and more. In addition, the network will leverage Plug & Charge technology to further enhance the customer experience," the announcement said.

Police officer fired for sexually harassing a young woman

Wed, Aug 24 2016

A police officer in Jackson, Mississippi was fired after a video surfaced on Tuesday of him sexually harassing a young woman from his patrol car. According to WAPT, Officer Darryl Stasher of the Jackson Mississippi Police Department rolled up to two young women walking down the street and began talking to them through the driver's side window of his patrol car. During his discourse, his language because coarser and more suggestive. He gave one young woman his number and told her that he was "going to take care of her" and that he wanted to "do more than talk". He also suggested that the two should "get a room" together. The whole exchange was caught on video, and soon after the incident the young woman uploaded the footage to Facebook where it quickly went viral. It didn't take long for the Jackson Police Department to get wind of the video. "The Jackson Police Department does have possession of the video that was posted to Facebook by the young lady," said JPD Commander Tyree Jones. "Chief (Lee) Vance found the video to be very disturbing. He is very disappointed due to the content that's in the video." Upon learning of the video, JPD put Officer Stasher on desk duty pending the results of an internal affairs investigation. Stasher, who worked for at least eight years for JPD in the second precinct, was fired soon after the investigation finished. Related Video:
