Dodge Ram 1500 Srt 10 Viper Truck on 2040-cars
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States
Collectors: This is a low build number of 266 in the 1st year released, per Viper Truck Club Registry. The miles were put on each month for a decade of round trip 1,000 miles at 75 mph with the cruise control on the Florida TPKE and I-75 It is stock except for K&N Ram, Duraliner spray in bed, bed liner. I had the Hood intake painted Viper Red to Show it means Business! I was religious about changing all fluids including rear diff, gear fluid, brakes, radiator, power steering, etc. oil every 3,000 The local dodge dealer performed the work over the years. I recently installed a new A/C compressor, radiator, power steering hoses, water pump, hood pistons, tires, brakes, etc. If the dealer recommends - I let them do it. This Truck has been a dream. I sold my Porsche C4 911 and convert. Mustang when I got this. It can haul 4x8 plywood boards and race a Vette on the way home from Home Depot! On the highway, you can see looks of ????, as this full sized pickup can weave thru traffic like a Miata. It just does not seem right for a Pickup Truck to move like that!!!! When the redlight turns green, be careful. In mere seconds, you will be doing over 60mph in 2nd gear and will get a speeding ticket. I am leaving S. Florida and going full time at the Farm. The Viper truck never liked the dirt roads.... So, I got a new Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. The RAMN8TR (RAMinator - like Terminator) looks Showroom ready. I dare you to find 500+ Horse Power for sale in South Florida for this price!!! I don't want wholesalers buying her. She needs an owner who drools over her, photographs her, takes her to car shows, nails the big pedal when challenged and is nuts for her.... This truck had many smiles and pics at local car shows. 10 years later, whether at Dairy Queen or a Fancy NightClub with valet --- People know what it is. She still draws a crowd and lot's of questions. Tourists have begged me to let them take a picture of the engine!!! New viper cars cost over $120,000 This Truck is a Steal.... eGarage interviews a couple with 65 Vipers
Thu, 12 Sep 2013Owning multiple vehicles can be a hassle worth enjoying if you're willing to spend the time and the money required to acquire and maintain them. But when it's hard to make ends meet while underused valuable hunks of metal, plastic and rubber sit happily taking up garage space, journeys into the depths of other people's well-developed automotive obsessions will either bring you and your cars closer together, or compel you to sell them off before you become one of those fanatics. A recent video by eGarage is one of those journeys, and it's not for the faint of heart: D'Ann and Wayne Rauh own 65 Dodge and SRT Vipers in a collection of automobiles that exceeds 100.
We're not sure if the couple has developed heat-resistant calves from stepping over Viper door sills made burning-hot by side-exhaust pipes, but we wouldn't be surprised if they did. We did learn that their obsession with the no-holds-barred sports car started in 2006 with a trip to a dealership to buy just one Viper, which goes to show how innocently car obsessions can start. But the Rauhs seem to be doing just fine - perhaps better - 64 more Vipers later.
Watch the video below for the full story and to see what eGarage claims is the world's largest Viper collection.
Chrysler minivans under investigation for stalling after fuel refill
Wed, 10 Sep 2014According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, at least one man has reported that his 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan stalled unexpectedly on the highway shortly after being refueled. The unidentified man who contacted NHTSA regarding the issue cited as many as eight similar instances reported by other drivers.
NHTSA has announced that it will launch an inquiry into this issue, which could affect as many as 160,000 minivans from Dodge and Chrysler that were sold in 2007 (or more, if a problem is found that extends to additional models years, we'd assume). As of yet, there's no formal investigation, let alone a recall, on these vans, as the agency is merely determining if further action is needed.
Two months ago, Chrysler recalled nearly 700,000 vehicles, the majority of which were minivans, from the 2008-2010 model years to replace ignition switches after an investigation found that their weak springs and detent positions could fool a driver into thinking the car was in the "Run" position, when it's actually in the "Accessory" position.
Edmunds ranks the best used cars for 2013
Sun, 15 Sep 2013When people ask us what car we would recommend for them, it's usually not easy to answer. To make a useful recommendation we must consider which of the numerous vehicle segments fits their needs best, and then choose one of the many vehicles offered in each segment. For some people, new cars don't meet their expectations of value, because they lose so much of it the moment they are purchased and driven off the dealer lot. For them, there's always the used-car market, where great deals can be found, but cars' histories of reliability and maintenance records - and perhaps that Certified Pre-Owned warranty - become ever-important factors playing into purchase choice.
To help out, Edmunds has done us the favor of assembling a list of the best used vehicles money can buy, covering model years 2006-2011, according to what it considers the most important criteria when shopping for used autos: reliability, safety, value and availability. That means unreliable, unsafe, super-expensive or limited-edition models don't appear on the list, but instead cars from each segment that are more likely to satisfy the general population.
There are some real goodies on the list, including but not limited to vehicles such as the capable Honda Fit, the cultish Honda Accord coupe (which can be had with a 240-horsepower V6 and a six-speed manual transmission some years), and the powerful Chevrolet Corvette. While Edmunds' choice of the Volvo C70 for best used convertible baffled us at first (not that it's a bad car), it redeemed itself by stating that the Mazda MX-5 still is an unofficial top choice if you don't require more than two seats.
