1979 Dodge B-100 Original Swb "street Van" on 2040-cars
Upland, California, United States
Up for auction is my SWB van. . It appears to have the faded, but original, Dodge Street Van paint job. The original flairs and front spoiler are gone. I installed the sport mirrors and took off the 'trucker' mirrors ( they will go with the van). I have a rear ladder. I searched a long time to find a short wheel base van with the dual headlights, hinged doors, no side windows, chrome bumpers, etc. It does not have AC, which I was hoping for. I am selling because I am moving to a new place that is not as big and I do not have room for all my vehicles. I put a lot of money in this to get it running great. Rebuilt the carb, replaced vacuum lines, etc. It passed the Star smog with very little emissions.. It is a 318 4-V, new Cat, new single exhaust, new battery, and the windshield is very nice. Brakes are good. Back tires have about 35% left and the fronts maybe 25%. Runs and drives very well. I replaced the front seats with low mileage original Dodge van seats that bolt to the original holes. I have 2 replacement doors because the originals have rust in the bottom, which is odd because I have crawled under the van and it is very S. Cal clean and dry. I did not put the new doors on because they are white. It has 2 wheel studs missing, and it needs a new signal cancelling switch. It appears to be quite straight and nice for a 40+ yr. old vehicle. A good base for a restoration. I would not be afraid to drive this to Jersey and back. It is registered till Feb/2015. Call me at 626-222-1701 with any questions. |

NHTSA investigating power modules on Chrysler Group SUVs and minivans
Mon, 29 Sep 2014The Center for Auto Safety is officially petitioning the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to begin scrutinizing alleged problems with the totally integrated power module (TIPM) on about 24 Chrysler Group SUVs and minivans. The advocacy group claims that the part's failure can cause affected vehicles to stall or not start at all. NHTSA is still looking into the accusations and deciding whether a full investigation is actually warranted.
The CAS petition claims at least 70 TIPM failures, but according to NHTSA, six of the complaints are for models that don't have the modules. In 34 of the reported cases, the vehicles refused to start, and in 17 of them the engine stalled. There were also two allegations of smoke and one of a fire. However, none of these affected airbag deployment or resulted in a crash.
This petition isn't the first TIPM-related problem for Chrysler Group. A recent report in the New York Times alleged that it found 240 complaints potentially related to the issue on NHTSA's website alone. In September, the automaker also recalled 230,760 examples worldwide (188,723 in the US) of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango replace the fuel pump relay circuit inside of the TIPM-7 with one external to the unit. The original part could allegedly cause the models to stall without warning. Even earlier, the company also recalled about 80,000 examples of the Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Nitro in 2007 to have the module reprogrammed.
Chrysler recalls 350k vehicles over ignition switches
Thu, 25 Sep 2014Chrysler has announced a recall covering 349,442 vehicles due to ignition switches that can either become stuck or move without warning. All of the affected vehicles are from the 2008 model year, and were built before May 12, 2008.
The automaker has learned that ignition keys on some vehicles "may not fully return to the 'ON' position after rotation to the 'START' position during engine-startup," the company said in a statement. Additionally, "an ignition key may not fully return to the 'ON' position after rotation to the 'START' position and may inadvertently move through the 'ON' position to 'ACCESSORY' or 'OFF.'"
Chrysler says it is unaware of any related injuries, and notes that while reduced braking, engine or steering power is possible in such instances, the airbags are not affected. The later stands in contrast to General Motors' recent rash of high-profile recalls, and it's an important distinction that Chrysler (understandably) felt necessary to call out in bold print in its press release.
Chrysler extending production of current Dodge Avenger, Jeep Wrangler, Grand Caravan
Wed, 24 Jul 2013Are you hesitant to pull the trigger on a brand new Dodge Avenger in hopes that a new one will be coming? Well, don't hold your breath. According to The Detroit News, Chrysler will be extending production of the current Avenger sedan through the end of 2015.
Originally, we heard that the company would kill the Avenger to better focus its midsize sedan efforts on the Chrysler 200 replacement. But then new reports stated there would indeed be an Avenger successor, and that we could see it as early as next January. This Detroit News report cites supplier sources confirming the extension of Avenger production, though Chrysler has not released an official statement on the matter.
These same suppliers say that the current Jeep Wrangler will live on through mid-2018 - that's right, another five years. The Detroit News reports that a replacement for the iconic, go-anywhere Jeep was due in mid-2016.
