The body of this truck is very straight. The paint shines and looks good! There are some minor and superficial scratches, blemishes and rock chips in the paint/clear coat, expected for the age of the vehicle. As with most of these trucks, the original paint had flaked off and the previous owner had the truck repainted. The paint still looks good, however it does have spots where it's blistering, mainly in spots on the passenger side, drivers side fender and roof, please see pictures. Also, the clear coat on top of the drivers door is dull, please see pictures. The rest of the paint is in good shape. The dually fenders are in great shape, no cracks, please see pictures. Included in the sale are all of the original owners manuals as well as a new set of rubber floor mats, we pulled them out so that everyone could see the condition of the carpet! The interior is in great shape. The seats are in good shape, please see pictures. The carpet is in good shape as well, no rips and only a few small stains, please see pictures. All of the power options work great! All of the guages work perfect including the custom turbo boost, pyrometer and transmission oil temperature ones mounted on the dash. This truck is also equipped with a Kelsey Energize brake controller, additional custom power outlets and a nice Pioneer cd player. The windshield is in good shape, only a few small rock chips and no cracks. The headliner is in great shape and none of the plastic trim is cracked or broken, rare, please see pictures. The AC and cruise control work great!! There are no cracks in the dashboard, please see pictures. The motor starts instantly and purrs, just serviced, fresh engine oil&filter service, a fresh fuel filter installed and the K&N air filter cleaned!! The engine is all stock, never turned up or tweaked in any way!! The automatic transmission shifts very smooth and crisp, just serviced with fresh fluid&filter and is equipped with the factory transmission cooler mounted under the bed!! Also, the truck has a dual battery set up as well as a muffler delete which the original owner had installed a long time ago along with the K&N air filter to help increase fuel economy. This truck does have the rare and desirable 3.55 axle ratio. All 6 tires are almost new, Wild Country Radial XTX size, LT 215/85R16, m+s load range E and mounted on factory Dodge wheels!! Please keep in mind that this is an older vehicle and is not in new condition!! Please expect normal wear and tear for a vehicle of this age and miles, this is not a brand new vehicle and it is not perfect!! We have more pictures of the truck and close up shots of the blistering paint, please let us know if you would like to see them. Please view all pictures and ask questions before bidding. 2016 Dodge Viper ACR racks up lap records
Thu, Nov 5 2015With 645 horsepower and an adjustable spoiler nearly six feet wide, the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR would look at home on the runways of most any airport, air base, or aircraft carrier in the world. But it's not built for the runway. It's built for the race track. And it has positively mastered them one after another. In fact, the new Viper ACR has not only beat the lap times of its own predecessor as it set out to, but took the production-car lap record at 13 tracks across the country. The endeavor started out at the Inde Motorsport Ranch in Arizona, where development engineer Chris "The Wolf" Winkler set a lap time of 1:33.75 on the Configuration 4 track to beat every other street-legal vehicle to ever lap the circuit. Then it was off to Buttonwillow, the MotorSport Ranch (in Cresson, TX), Big Willow, VIR, Grattan, Pittsburg, GingerMan, the Motown Mile, Nelson Ledges, Waterford Hills, and Road Atlanta. And with the new American Club Racer, Dodge took the lap record at each and every one. The journey culminated just days ago at Laguna Seca, where track expert Randy Pobst climbed into the Viper ACR and set a lap time of 1:28.65. That's 5.27 seconds faster than the previous ACR's time, and 1.24 seconds faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder that held the record until now. The sum total is a bragging-rights sheet of lap records set at 13 tracks across these United States. And you don't have to take Dodge's word on that. The records have been certified by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), cementing the ACR's place in the record books. Nice work if you can get it, and you can scope it out in the video above and press release below. Legacy Classic Power Wagon First Drive
Wed, Oct 7 2015Shortly before the US entered World War II, Dodge supplied the military with a line of pickups internally codenamed WC, those letters designating the year 1941 and the half-ton payload rating. From 1941 to 1945 Dodge built more than a quarter million of them, and even though "WC" came to refer to the Weapons Carrier body style, the WC range served in 38 different configurations from pickup trucks to ambulances to six-wheeled personnel and weapons haulers. The story is that soldiers returning from active duty badgered Dodge for a civilian version of that indefatigable warhorse, so Dodge responded with the Power Wagon in 1946. Even for those no-nonsense times the truck was so austere that the first three names Dodge gave it were "Farm Utility Truck," "WDX General Purpose Truck," and "General Purpose, One Ton Truck." "Power Wagon" was the fourth choice, not finalized until just before it went on sale. Nothing like today's Power Wagon, the original could be seen as either a glorified tractor or a slightly less uncouth military vehicle – hell-for-leather meant going 50 miles per hour. But it would go nearly anywhere. The civilian version was still built like it had to survive, well, a world war; power take-offs (PTOs) ran all manner of ancillaries; multiplicative gear ratios helped it produce enough torque to make an earthquake envious. Said to be the first civilian 4x4 truck made in America, any organization that needed a simple, sturdy mechanized draught animal knew it needed a Power Wagon. If that history, the aura of war, and the ruthless functionality attract you but the mean comforts and 70-year-old manners don't, then you need to get in touch with Legacy Classic Trucks. The Jackson Hole, WY, restorer retains every ounce of the Power Wagon's orchard-work aptitude, decorated with present-day amenities and the best components. Each job starts with having to find a usable donor. The city of Breckenridge, CO, bought the red truck in our gallery in 1947 and used it as a snowplow for the next 30 years. In 1977 a log-home builder bought it from the city and used it for another decade as a company hauler. That's the kind of grueling longevity that lets Ram put a five-figure premium on the 2500 Power Wagon pickup it sells today. Legacy Classics founder Winslow S.
Dodge, Hyundai crowdsourced-funding sites deemed successes
Wed, 05 Jun 2013What's not to love about crowdsourcing? This idea, after all, has given us Kickstarter as well Local Motors, but automakers are starting to use the social platform to sell more cars (or just drum up a little PR). Both Dodge and Hyundai have used "crowd-funding" recently, and while Automotive News is reporting that neither has racked up big sales with this gimmick, both automakers are pleased with the attention.
For Hyundai, it teamed up with website Motozuma.com to help customers crowdsource money for a down payment, and the automaker matched this amount up to $500. Last year, this helped Hyundai sell an extra 1,600 units, a fraction of its total 2012 sales. That figure is far larger than Dodge fared with the Dodge Dart Registry - it netted only two sales and a small number of individual options. This registry did help University of Southern California fraternity crowdsource $18,000 to buy a Dart for a local Meals on Wheels, however. Despite the low sales figures, Dodge and Hyundai are considering their crowdsourcing programs a success since it helped them connect with younger buyers.
