Dodge Ram 3500 Dually 24V Cummins Diesel Dual Rear Wheel 2WD
1998 Dodge Ram 3500 SLT Laramie Quad Cab DRW.
I purchased this truck 4 years (only about 20k miles) ago after spending months searching nationwide. I had a lot of projects around the house that I needed a truck to haul materials for, and I had a few cars to transport across town and I decided this was the most truck I could possibly get for my money. There were a LOT for sale back then, but I had strict criteria- I had to have a decent truck, clean/clear title (NOT salvage), with no rust, manual transmission, leather seats, the injection pump needed to have been replaced already, but mileage didn't really matter to me as the Cummins will run 500,000 miles easily if properly maintained. Finally I found this one- it was in good shape, but it did need some work here and there, and then a few weeks later the 5th gear transmission went out so I decided to just go ahead and take care of everything to avoid down time in the future. - remanufactured NV4500 with fully splined mainshaft, welded 5th gear nut, and correct fluid - new heavy duty clutch kit, master cylinder/slave cylinder assembly - rebuilt driveshaft and new support bearing - new rear differential fluid - new rear sway bar links - new upper and lower ball joints - new wheel bearings - new brake rotors/pads, calipers, and hoses - new HD truck shocks front and rear - new power, heated towing mirrors - new headlights, new LED tail lights, 3rd brake light, and sidemarker/running lamps - new batteries - new heater core - new silicone heavy duty intercooler hoses with stainless clamps - coolant flush and new belt I have always changed the oil every 7,500 miles with Shell Rotella, and Purolator filters. I always change the fuel filter at the same time, and its never been run out of fuel. I also use stanadyne diesel fuel additive every other fill up. Both the lift pump and the injection pump have been replaced on the truck by the dealer but it was prior to my ownership. To make sure I got the maximum MPG possible, I installed a VOLANT Air Filter Box, K&N Filter, custom mandrel bent 3" Straight exhaust (sounds great, not obnoxious at all) and an Edge Juice with Attitude unit. The Edge allowed me to use a "mileage" tune during normal driving and easily switch to a "towing" tune if I needed it. There are other settings, but I never used them. I was able to get 19.1 MPG around town, which is amazing for such a heavy truck. The Edge also displays 4 selectable gauge outputs, I use it to monitor engine temp, fuel pressure, EGT, and oil pressure but it can also be set to display several other values, like transmission temperature, which is hooked up on this truck by the way. I also used the turbo cool down feature, which idles the truck even after I cut the key off until the EGT cools down to 280 degrees. This extends engine oil life and cuts down on turbocharger wear. This truck was bone stock when I bought it and I do still have all the original parts I removed, and they are included with the sale of the truck. The full size spare is present and mounted under the bed where it should be. The tools to remove it are also present, stowed under the rear seat. This truck has the factory "Towing Package" that includes rear sway bar, etc. About 3,000 miles ago I removed the chrome simulators (they are included with the truck), painted the wheels black, and got 6 new 245/75R16 tires. This truck has working cruise control, power windows, power locks, radio, the owners manual is in the glovebox, all the doors open and shut properly, the sliding glass latch isn't broken, and I replaced the dashboard upper panel so NO CRACKS! As seen in the pictures, the drivers seat is of course worn, this actually never bothered me but new replacement leather seat bottom covers are available. All the other leather is in great shape, except for one small crack on the front center seat/armrest (shown in pics). This truck has the reverse opening rear doors, a great feature. Also, engine block heater, LEONARD bedliner, upgraded speakers front and rear, class 5 tow hitch, etc. To my knowledge it has never been smoked in. The glovebox opens all the way. The fuel gauge sometimes will not work, but it has never bothered me enough to worry about, even though it will go about 500 miles on a full tank, I just top it off after about 300 miles. The truck does have factory installed keyless entry- but I do not have the remote key fob. The interior rearview mirror fell off the windshield recently, I do still have it and its included with the truck just needs to be re-glued. There is also an auxiliary fuel pump installed on the frame rail should the lift pump ever fail. It was repainted about 5 years ago I believe, and it does have scratches and door dings like any truck this age would have. There is a dent on the right rear door, and a couple of small dings I will do my best to show in the photos. Also there is a scratch on the right dually fender. There are several scratches on the top of the bed rails, but that is normal. There is a dent in the right rear cab corner next to the rear window, some of the paint chipped off as well and there is a small rust spot but no rusted through. There is a dent on the right side of the rear bumper. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask I will happy to help. Please note truck is also for sale locally and is still being driven. SHOULD BIDDING REACH THE RESERVE PRICE: I will include my Magellan GPS unit and Tekonsha P3 Proportional Brake Controller with the truck! IF and WHEN the reserve is met, I will add mention of such to the item description and if it hits $1000 over the reserve (which it should) I will have the truck professionally detailed inside and out in preparation for its new owner! Thanks! THIS LISTING WILL END SATURDAY EVENING NOVEMBER THE 16TH AT: 8:00 PM EST 7:00 PM CST 6:00 PM MST 5:00 PM PST ... SO, WHEREVER YOU ARE, SET YOUR PHONES TO REMIND YOU NOW! |

Dodge idles Viper production again at Conner Avenue
Mon, 07 Jul 2014You've got to hand it to Dodge for having the gumption to put the original Viper into production in the first place. It was, after all, much more of an emotional decision than a practical one, and a move which saw the first production V10 engine placed in a road car - long before the advent of the Lamborghini Gallardo, Audi R8, Porsche Carrera GT or Lexus LFA, not to mention the other Ford, BMW and Volkswagen Group models that used such engines.
It's now been 22 years since the first Viper entered production and the Viper still rolls on several generations later, but we're sad to say that courageous decision has not always been met with overwhelming sales success. In fact parent Chrysler was forced to idle the Conner Avenue plant where the Viper is made back in April due to slow sales. And while production resumed again as planned on June 23, it apparently didn't do the trick.
As a result, Chrysler corporate communications chief Shawn Morgan revealed to Autoblog that the assembly line has been shut down again for another two weeks. The line was up and running for nearly two full work weeks from June 23 until the holiday weekend that started on Thursday, July 3. But instead of coming back online today as planned, it's been idled again for the weeks of July 7 and 14. That means it will be July 21, at the earliest, before the serpentine supercars start slithering down the assembly line at Conner Avenue again. Once it does, however, production is set to resume at the same pace it was before the shutdown.
2013-14 Dodge Viper recalled over faulty door handles
Fri, Apr 10 2015The 2013-14 Dodge Viper is getting a voluntary recall affecting 1,762 cars worldwide to replace their door-handle assemblies. Of the affected vehicles, FCA US reports there are 1,451 in the US, 160 in Canada, 17 in Mexico and 59 of them outside of NAFTA. After receiving three reports of doors either not closing or opening while driving a low speeds, FCA US engineers found a new sealant from a supplier didn't provide sufficient moisture protection to the electronic switches for the door latches. If the parts get wet, this can potentially cause a short circuit. The automaker is quite clear that are no reports of accidents of injuries from this problem. As always, the recall repairs will be done at no cost to owners, and FCA US will be getting in touch with customers soon about the problem. Related Video: Statement: Door-handle Assemblies April 9, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is voluntarily recalling an estimated 1,762 cars globally to replace their door-handle assemblies. FCA US launched an investigation after the Company received three warranty claims linked to doors that failed to close or opened inadvertently while vehicles were moving at low speed. The Company is unaware of any related injuries or accidents. Engineers determined a sealant, newly adopted by a supplier, provided inconsistent moisture protection to the electronic switches that control the door latches. Switches exposed to moisture may short-circuit. Affected are approximately 1,451 model-year 2013-14 Dodge Viper SRT cars in the U.S.; 160 in Canada; 17 in Mexico and 59 outside the NAFTA region. Affected customers will be notified and advised when they may schedule service, which will be performed at no cost. Customers with questions may call the FCA US Customer Information Center at 1-800-853-1403.
Buick takes top spot in 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study
Tue, Jun 28 2022People, economies, and supply chains weren't the only things continuing to get sick over the past year. The 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS) is out, showing the average rate of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the first 90 days of ownership increased overall. The average figure for the 32 ranked manufacturers in 2020 was about 166 problems per 100 vehicles. In the 2021 IQS, that dropped to an average of 162. This year, the average jumps to 180 problems. J.D. Power says that figure is a record high over the 36-year history of the study. Buick leapt to the top of the rankings this year with the fewest issues, at 139 problems per 100 vehicles in the first 100 days of ownership. After Dodge became the first American automaker to lead the IQS in 2020, followed by Ram in 2021, this year marks a three-peat for U.S. carmakers. Dodge took second this year at 143 PP100, Chevrolet third with 147 PP100, Genesis the first luxury maker on the chart in fourth with 156 PP100. Between February and May, this year's study gathered responses to 223 questions from more than 84,000 new 2022-model-year car owners and lessees. The questions are designed to zero in on real-world problems new owners encounter with nine categories of vehicle features: Infotainment; features, controls and displays; exterior; driving assistance; interior; powertrain; seats; driving experience; and climate. As has been the case in the past few year, infotainment has proved to be the most problematic bugbear making scores worse. Considering features individually, six of 10 of the worst problem areas dealt with infotainment, causing infotainment's score of 45 PP100 to be 19.5 PP100 worse than the second-placed feature. Consumers ranked getting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to connect reliably as the most troublesome. GM didn't just score with Buick, which was one of only nine of the 33 ranked brands to show improvement this year. The conglomerate earned first place with the fewest PP100 among all the automaker groups, and scored the most model-level awards with nine, ahead of BMW with eight and Hyundai Group with three. This year's study again showed a gap between luxury and mass-market makers, thought to be down to the amount of tech in luxury vehicles that consumers aren't properly informed about or that doesn't act as expected — that latter issue exacerbated by the chip shortage.
