Up for Sale is a 1993 Dodge Diesel with an Allison 545 Transmission.

The truck runs and drives good and I have owned it since 2008. I have been using it to haul my 12ft trailer with 2 lawn mowers for my lawncare business. The original transmission went out in 2011 and I parked it for about a year while I converted it from the crappy dodge tranny to a bulletproof Allison. I mounted an Allison 545 Transmission and in the process I put in a new starter, and serviced the rear end. I had also put a new Alternator and new brakes a few months before the transmission went out.

The Engine has about 360,000 miles but the odometer/speedometer has not worked since I put in the Allison so it currently reads 343,XXX.  I normally use a GPS speedometer app on my phone to keep track of speed when going down the highway. I also need to mention that highway driving on this truck is currently not the best because the allison in it is a 4 speed with out overdrive and so I ussually cruise between 55-60mph. I have an overdrive unit that I wanted to put on the truck but it is missing a yoke and I the local transmission shop could not find a yoke for it. (The overdrive unit is 33% previous owner said it was on his motorhome C6 available for $400. Just recover my investment.)

Engine starts and runs well even in cold weather. There is a video of me starting the car in 28 degree weather and that is what you can expect when its cold and not plugged in. The video does not show it but that exhaust has a break somewhere before it comes out. I change the oil every 3,000 Miles but I ussually have to add a quart between oil changes. I believe that it is mostly due to an oil leak because I have noticed drops of oil on the garage floor. I also believe that it only leaks when its running.

After I spent an year converting the truck, I found that the heater blower only works on low now which is not enough heat during the cold months. Before this, the heater blower worked on all speeds but the slider between the hott and the cold side has always been stuck on the red. Truck has never had AC and so that was never an issue because I could simply turn the blower off during the summer months.

The last thing that I can think of is the fact that there is sometimes a click noise that seems to come when turning. I took the truck to a body shop and spent about $1200 on new front end parts that included new ball joints and tie rod ends, alignment and balancing but that did not fix the click noise. Its there but the mechanics could not find anything wrong in the suspension.

The truck has an alpine cd player and amplifier for entertainment.

Below is a link to see truck running. Unfortunately, the truck had ran about 3 hours ealier so this is not a pure cold start. The cold starts ussually take about 3-5 seconds of cranking. When its warm it fires up right away like a cummins.

Hennessey's Dodge Challenger Hellcat cranks out 1,032 hp

Mon, Feb 22 2016

Enthusiasts know the Dodge Challenger Hellcat produces 707 horsepower. It's one of the modern muscle-car era's iconic numbers. But for some, that's not enough. Enter Hennessey Performance. The Texas tuners loaded the Hellcat with a twin-turbocharger that works with Dodge's supercharger to boost output to 1,032 hp and 987 pound-feet of torque. Yes, that's an engine dyno rating, not at the rear wheels, but still! It's a little more complicated than a bolt-on booster. Called the HPE1000, the turbo kit has stainless steel headers and down pipes, billet aluminum compressor wheels, and a high-flow air system. There's also an an improved fuel pump, and the engine and chassis are specially calibrated. You also get numbered plaques signed by John Hennessey himself and the engine tech who builds your mill. All of this helps get your Hellcat to 60 miles per hour in 2.7 seconds, and it can do the quarter mile in 9.9 seconds at 142 mph. The Hellcat and it's 6.2-liter blown Hemi V8 are not for the faint of heart. Hennessey makes this Dodge downright demonic. 2015 Dodge Challenger crash test results slip from last year's model

Mon, Dec 22 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has released the results of its latest round of crash testing, announcing that the 2015 Dodge Challenger has netted a five-star overall crash rating. Of course, Chrysler won't want us to tell you this, but that NHTSA overall rating is not the whole story here. As The Car Connection so astutely points out, five-star rating aside, the refreshed 2015 Challenger actually performed worse than when it was tested back in 2013. The V6-powered SXT model tested by NHTSA in this latest round of testing was only able to record a four-star rating in its frontal crash test, while it nailed a five-star rating in the side-impact test. The 2013 Challenger managed a five-star rating in the frontal test. Of course, while this rating is a sign of overall good news for Challenger fans, the car, as TCC argues, has yet to be tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It'll be interesting to see if these NHTSA ratings translate to an IIHS Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick Plus. Scroll down for the full press release from FCA. All-new 2015 Dodge Challenger Earns Five-Star Overall Safety Rating From U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 2015 Dodge Challenger coupe earns five stars overall, the highest possible score in NHTSA's safety rating program More than 70 safety and security features, including new for 2015 class-exclusive Forward Collision Warning, adaptive cruise control, Blind-spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path detection All-new 2015 Dodge Challenger starts at $26,995 (excluding tax, destination and title) December 18, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The all-new 2015 Dodge Challenger has earned a five-star overall safety rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Five stars is the highest possible safety rating given by NHTSA. "The new Dodge Challenger coupe further demonstrates our commitment to broaden the proliferation of advanced safety technologies, such as driver-assist features," says Scott Kunselman, Senior Vice President-Vehicle Safety and Regulatory, FCA-North America. In its assessment of the new Challenger, NHTSA notes the availability of Forward Collision Warning (FCW), which features forward-facing sensors programmed to detect the potential for certain types of frontal collisions. If detected, the driver is alerted with visual and audible warnings. The 2015 Dodge Challenger is the only car in its segment with such capability.

Thieves still love older Hondas and pickups most, says NICB [w/video]

Wed, 20 Aug 2014

No one wants to have their car stolen, but a new study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau has some bad news for older Honda owners and pickup drivers. Fortunately, it has better news for drivers overall. The group is reporting that according to preliminary data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, thefts were down 3.2 percent in 2013 (versus 2012) to fewer than 700,000 cars. That's the lowest figure since 1967. That's also less than half of the peak of over 1.66 million thefts in 1991. "The drop in thefts is good news for all of us," says NICB President and CEO Joe Wehrle. "But it still amounts to a vehicle being stolen every 45 seconds and losses of over $4 billion a year."
Honda drivers might not find it such good news with older Accord and Civic models topping this year's theft study. Toyota and Dodge can't really celebrate, either, with two models each on the list, as well. Overall, this year's list was split evenly between foreign and domestic models, which were mostly pickups.
The 10 most likely vehicles to be stolen in 2013 were:
