it started life as a 1985 d350 dually gasser. lifted the body off the chassis and dropped is onto a rolling chassis and powertrain from a 1993 w250 cummins extended cab long bed. fortunately the wheelbase was almost identical and the cab along with a shortbed i purchased dropped too perfectly. the rolling chassis and drivetrain had about 140k on it when i bought it from a friend whol crushed his cab loading broken cement into the bed with a front end loader. its now almost to 146k.  i have put alot of time, money, sweat, tears, and blood into this truck.  it was an automatic until recently. i purchased a 1992 w250 donor truck to do the manual conversion.  while under neath her as i was pulling everything out i decided it best to just rebuild everything seeing as i had some spending cash at the time.  front and rear axles have been rebuilt as well as the getrag 5 speed transmission and transfer case.  i sprung for a new clutch and upgraded to the southbend clutch hydraulics package.  everything i rebuilt was sanded, repainted black and rustoleumed as well as the chassis.  this truck will literally run forever.
i picked up a diamond plate bumper and 10k pound ramsey wench for the front but it has not been installed yet. i have a new custom aluminum one piece rear drive shaft on the way right now.  the purchase was made because after converting to manual but before deciding to sell i had huge power aspirations. was intending to make this into a sled puller and pick up another daily.
she has no carpet. original dash and door panels were red. iv replaced them with black panels. the carpet was still red so i yanked it out. the floor is in great shape..  i like the bare metal black. its durable and tough looking.
the seats are blue. from a second gen cummins turbo diesel. all i had at the time.  future goals were to re upholster in black leather but its a future thing.
also if you know anything about diesels, especially the dodge cummins, you know they are typically always leaking something somewhere.  this truck does not leak at all.  its completely dry which is something i am extremely proud of.  its a rarerly attained goal, especially considering the age of all this hardware.

again.. the truck has around 145k mileage. however when i did the manual conversion i swapped the guage cluster.  the manual cluster reads 168k, which even if that were the true mileage its insignificant for a 12 valve cummins.

rust and leak free.

Australian consumer activists destroy a Dodge Journey with a tank

Thu, Jun 30 2016

An Australian couple held an event where they crushed their unreliable and frustrating Dodge Journey with a retired army tank. According to Drive, Kate and Joe Masters owned an infuriating 2010 Dodge Journey that they claim was plagued by mechanical and electrical issues. After numerous failed attempts on their part to get the issues fixed by Fiat Chrysler and Dodge Australia, the couple decided that they'd had enough. Working with Queensland consumer advocate Ashton Wood, the Masters held an event where they smashed the Dodge with a sledgehammer and fired arrows at it. Finally, they rolled out a retired Centurion Mk.V tank and proceeded to crush the doomed Dodge monster truck-style. Fiat Chrysler issued a statement refuting many of the Masters' claims about both its vehicle and the steps taken to remedy the situation. The company claims that the vehicle was serviced outside of its dealer network and that the Masters did not work through established consumer complaint channels established by the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. "We had attempted to work proactively with this customer, offering free service work and free genuine parts after their warranty had expired," FCA said in a statement. "While Dodge Australia was keen to resolve this issue, we weren't in the position to issue the demanded refund of $43,000 for a vehicle purchased in 2011, that was driven for more than 100,000 kilometers (62,137 miles) and that has no known manufacturing defects, nor had any evidence provided by the owners to substantiate these claims. Queensland senator Glenn Lazarus, who was involved with the tank event, stated that Australian motorists need better consumer protections against automotive dealerships and manufacturers. "Countries around the world have successfully implemented lemon laws to provide consumers with protection and I believe it's about time we did the same in Australia," he said. Destroying cars in a public act of frustration is nothing new. In China, a Lamborghini Gallardo owner smashed his luxury ride with a sledgehammer after he felt he wasn't given a premium experience at the dealership. Junkyard Gem: 1978 Dodge Tradesman Custom Van

Fri, Nov 4 2016

The custom-van craze was huge in California, back in the 1970s, and plenty of folks who would never have considered getting zonked on Acapulco Gold while listening to Elephant's Memory ended up buying Econolines and Beauvilles and Tradesmen with shag carpeting, bubble windows, and wild graphics. In fact, van buyers could get that stuff right from the factory. Most of those vans are gone now, but I found this used-up '78 Dodge in a self-service wrecking yard in California's Central Valley. Owners of custom vans felt strongly about their rides back in the Malaise Era. This one has the look of a vehicle that was used for beer-and-burned-meat-heavy tailgate parties at Oakland Raiders games. Such service is rough on a van. Try to picture this interior when it was new and plush, not the way it looks now. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Queens man knows how to party, disrupts Mets game with van

Fri, Jun 24 2016

A New Yorker and all-around true American hero took his weekend festivities a little too far and landed himself in front of a judge last week. According to NBC New York, Nelson Hidalgo drove his unassuming Sprinter to Citi Field on Saturday, June 18, around 10:45 p.m. While the Mets were getting thrashed by the Braves, Hidalgo pulled up to the intersection of 127th street and 35th avenue. Hiding within the van's cargo area were 80 speakers driven by powerful amps, around $20,000 worth of car audio. Hidalgo opened the Sprinter's rear doors, deployed his amazing speaker system, cracked a cold Coors Light, and unleashed hell. Noise complaints immediately started flooding in to the police, including one from the Mets' bullpen. Soon, Hidalgo amassed a sizable crowd who had come to rock out and marvel at the lunacy of the Sprinter's sound system. The NYPD showed up eventually and, undaunted by noise and the crowd, clapped the irons on poor Nelson. The Sprinter was impounded and Hildago was charged with second-degree criminal nuisance, general noise prohibition, disorderly conduct, and obstructing the driver's view. "I know it's illegal, but it's the weekend," he explained to the cops as they hauled him away. Once they had him in custody, the NYPD realized that Hidalgo was the person they had been looking for in connection with absurdly loud music coming from various city junkyards in the dead of night. Hidalgo, who has no prior record, spent the night in the slammer but was released the next morning with no bail on the promise that he return for his court date on August 1. Related Video:
