DRIVETRAIN-
THIS TRUCK ORIGINALLY CAME WITH THE VENERABLE SLANT 6 ENGINE AND AUTOMATIC TRANS. IT HAD 63000 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT WHEN I GOT IT, AND RAN LIKE BRAND NEW. I WANTED MORE POWER AS US GUYS TEND TO, SO I SOURCED A STRONG RUNNING FRESH 440 CUBIC INCH MOPAR BIG BLOCK FOR IT! I HAD NO IDEA ALL THE WORK THAT WAS INVOLVED IN SWITCHING OVER TO THIS BIG BLOCK, BUT IN THE END, IT CAME OUT FANTASTIC! THE ENGINE IS A STOCK EARLY 70'S 440 WITH FULL LENGTH HEADERS, HIGH RISE ALUMINUM INTAKE, EDELBROCK 4 BARREL CARB, MOPAR ELECTRONIC IGNITION, WITH CHROME BOX. THIS TRUCK RUNS PERFECT! IT HAS A NEW RADIATOR, NEW WATER PUMP, NEW ALTERNATOR, NEW BELTS ETC. ALL ITEMS WERE REPLACED WHEN ENGINE WAS INSTALLED 1 YEAR AGO. IT IS BACKED UP BY A STRONG SHIFTING 727 TORQUE FLITE TRANS. I WOULD NOT BE AFRAID TO GET IN THIS TRUCK AND DRIVE IT ANYWHERE! IT HAS MADE THE TRIP OVER THE MOUNTAIN TO VIRGINIA LOTS OF TIMES, AND IT EVEN DOES DECENT ON GAS AS LONG AS YOU STAY OUT OF IT! IT HAS ALL NEW DUAL EXHAUST ALSO.
THIS TRUCK IS ALSO VERY QUICK, AS YOU CAN PROBABLY IMAGINE. THESE 440'S PUT OUT A TON OR HORSEPOWER AND TORQUE! THIS ONE DOES NOT SMOKE, LEAK, BURN OIL, OR DO ANYTHING IT ISNT SUPPOSED TO DO! IT RUNS EXTREMELY COOL EVEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.
HAS ALMOST NEW TIRES ON IT.
BODY-
THIS IS AN ORIGINAL TENNESSEE TRUCK, AND HAS NEVER HAD ANY RUST ON THE BODY OR FLOORS- EVER, NO RUST!! IF YOU LIKE THESE DODGE TRUCKS, THEN YOU KNOW HOW HARD THAT IS TO FIND! THIS TRUCK IS STRAIGHT, AND NEVER HAD ANY BODY DAMAGE, OR ACCIDENTS EITHER. REMEMBER, THIS IS A 65000 ORIGINAL MILE TRUCK! IT WAS PAINTED LAST YEAR AND HAS A DECENT PAINT JOB. IT IS THE ORIGINAL COLOR BUT WE ADDED EXTRA METAL FLAKE. IT LOOKS FANTASTIC IN THE SUN! IT HAS NOT BEEN WHEELED OUT OR BUFFED SINCE IT WAS PAINTED. IF SOMEONE TOOK THE TIME TO DO IT, IT WOULD LOOK FANTASTIC! TRUCK HAS HAD A ROLL PAN INSTALLED. WE ALSO INSTALLED THE 70'S STYLE "BIRD BATH" HOOD.
INTERIOR-
THIS IS WHERE THIS TRUCK NEEDS SOME TLC. THE CARPET NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE SEAT HAS A SMALL RIP WHERE THE DRIVER GETS IN AND OUT. OTHER THAN THAT, IT IS IN NICE SHAPE FOR A 32 YEAR OLD TRUCK. EVERYTHING WORKS AS IT SHOULD, RADIO, HEAT, LIGHTS, GAUGES ETC. THE TRUCK IS VERY TIGHT INSIDE, WITH NO WIND NOISE BELIEVE IT OR NOT. IT RIDES AND DRIVES LIKE NEW, JUST FASTER!
I HAD PLANNED ON KEEPING THIS TRUCK FOREVER, AND FINISHING IT OFF, BUT I HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE A NEW SRT8 DODGE CHALLENGER, SO MY OTHER TOYS NOW HAVE TO GO! THE RESERVE ON THIS TRUCK IS WAY BELOW THE AMOUNT THAT I HAVE IN THIS TRUCK. YOU CAN NOT BUILD THIS TRUCK THIS WAY FOR EVEN CLOSE TO THE RESERVE PRICE.(HAVE YOU PRICED MOPAR PARTS LATELY? LOL)
THE TRUCK IS LOCATED AT MY DAD'S HOUSE IN SEVIERVILLE TENNESSEE. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CALL DOUG AT 630-327-4350.

Chrysler recalling 31k SUVs and vans
Fri, 06 Jun 2014Chrysler is issuing recalls covering roughly 31,700 vehicles worldwide due to two separate problems. In both cases the company believes that most of the affected vehicles are either still on, or in transit to, dealer lots.
One recall covers roughly 10,700 Dodge Durango, Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee SRT models from the 2014 model year built between January 16 and April 17, 2014. The SUVs need a software update for the cruise control. It's possible that when the cruise is on and the driver presses on the throttle, the acceleration could last a second after the pedal is released or two seconds for the SRT. Afterward, they return to the speed originally set by the driver.
Chrysler says it isn't aware of any accidents, injuries or even reported incidents of this happening in the real world. Also, in all cases, if the driver presses on the brake, the cruise shuts off. The automaker believes that there are about 6,100 affected SUVs in the US, 950 in Canada, 425 in Mexico and 3,200 outside of North America. The software upgrade will be ready shortly, the company says.
Dodge vs. Chevy tug-of-war taken to the extreme
Mon, 17 Dec 2012They say "idle hands are the devil's playground," but said playgrounds grow to Disney-sized proportions when a pair of jacked-up trucks, two egos, a chain and an empty mall parking lot are involved. Proof of this is the video below, which shows a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram circa 2006 to 2008 chained tail-to-tail with what looks to be a gasoline-powered Chevrolet Silverado from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
We don't necessarily have to tell you who wins this battle, but we'll let you see for yourself the lengths the "winning" driver goes to prove his point. There's plenty of foul language in the video below, so beware that this might be Not Safe For Work, and not that we should have to tell you, but please, do not try this at home.
Rare Dodge Shelby Dakota is a very '80s sport truck
Fri, Jun 3 2016The late-great Carroll Shelby built an incredibly successful career of making all sorts of cars faster, more often than not, with a bigger or more potent engine under the hood. The icons are well known—legends like the Shelby Cobra, GT350 Mustang, and the big GT500. But by the 1980s, Shelby was plying his trade over at Chrysler, at the behest of chairman Lee Iacocca, churning out special editions like the Dodge Shelby Charger, zippy CSX, rorty GLHS, and this—the 1989 Shelby Dakota muscle truck. 1,500 of these racy pickups were built for just one year and a whole two-and-a-half decades later they still turn heads. This one especially. The spotless pickup recently turned up for sale online , and its odometer reads a claimed 25,307 miles. So what makes these rarified work trucks special? As with most Shelbys, it starts under the hood. Up until 1989, the standard Dodge Dakota pickups were offered in only four-cylinder and V6 variants. But Dodge (and Shelby) wanted more, so the larger 5.2-liter Magnum V8 from Dodge's full-size pickup was shoehorned into the midsize Dakota, albeit not effortlessly. To fit, Dodge had to swap the V8's belt-driven fan for an electric unit mounted in front of the radiator. That did the trick, as well as earned the V8 a few extra ponies, pushing the special Dakota up to 175 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. That performance may sound paltry by today's standards, but in 1989 it was seen as quite sporty, and netted a zero to 60 mph dash in 8.5 seconds. A four-speed automatic with lockup torque converter transmitted that power to the rear wheels. Additional Shelby performance goodies included a limited-slip differential, transmission cooler, along with a host of eye-catching body mods, including a unique air dam and bumpers, Shelby floor mats, monogramed seats and door panels, a "CS" steering wheel, 15-spoke hollow alloy wheels, and shouty body graphics. While the Shelby Dakota didn't return for 1990, its V8 legacy did continue, and in 1991 the 5.2-liter eight-cylinder became an option on new Dakotas. Of the 1,500 Shelby Dakota pickups built, 860 were dressed in red while a rarer 640 came adorned in Bright White. This '89 is said to be #245 of those white trucks, sold new to its original (and sole) owner in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, for $15,985 (the Shelby package cost $3,933 in its day). Currently, it's demanding bids north of $10,000 for its low-mileage originality. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
