1993 Dodge W250 5 Speed 4x4 Base Standard Cab Pickup 2-door 5.9l Cummins Diesel on 2040-cars
Vancouver, Washington, United States
The good:
-rebuilt transmission in February 2014, shifts perfectly (have receipt) -clean engine that runs perfectly with no leaks from anywhere -straight body with only a few small rust spots and scratches (the truck is 21 years old, if you're looking for perfect then go look at a newer truck) -no leaks or abnormal noises -new serpentine belt -new battery -3 tires are at 85% tread, 1 is at 60%, spare is 100% -all gages/speedometer/odometer work The bad: -starting to develop the infamous Dodge death wobble on slow speed turns (not sure what the cause is, it's just developing and it doesn't do it all the time) -windshield has a few cracks -rear view mirror needs to be re-glued on -parking brake needs to be replaced (if the cable tightener underneath the truck wasn't seized you could just adjust it and it'd work fine) -vents only blow hot air (lever mechanism for hot/cold is either broken or disconnected) -4WD light bulb is out and does not light up when the truck is in 4WD The truck is partially financed still through USAA. I just bought it recently and wanted to fix it up and make it all sparkly and shiny again inside and out but I have a baby coming in less than 2 months. I don't have the time or money for that like I thought I did. It won't take much at all to make this truck new again. These first generation 12 valve Cummins are very rare to find in great running condition that don't require a lot of work! |

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat revving is sonic bacon
Fri, 23 May 2014This is the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, and we're sure that by now, you know its stats, including over 600 horsepower from its 6.2-liter, supercharged V8. What, pray tell, does that blown engine sound like, though?
At least judging on the sonic strength of this video, it's very, very dirty. Honestly, it sounds unlike anything that's come out of the Chrysler Group in a long time, if ever. It's loud, almost brutally so, with a bark that few road-going V8s can match.
Of course, you should be the final judge here. Take a look and a listen at the two videos below, one of which comes from our friends at Cars.com that provides a nice look under the hood, and then let us know what you think of the Hellcat's singing voice in Comments.
Chrysler recalls 1.2 million Ram pickup trucks
Sat, 09 Nov 2013Chrysler has announced that it will issue three separate recalls that will cover as many as 1.2 million Ram pickup trucks for "steering-system tie rods that may have been misaligned during assembly or steering-system service." The vast majority of these trucks were sold in the United States, though some trucks in Mexico, Canada or overseas will be called in, as well.
The largest of the three recalls covers an estimated 842,400 model-year 2003-2008 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks. Two smaller campaigns will bring 294,000 model-year 2008-2012 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups, chassis cabs and 2008 Ram 1500 4x4 Mega Cabs; plus 43,500 model-year 2008-2012 Ram 4500 and 5500 4x4 chassis cabs into the dealer to be checked and repaired if necessary.
This is a very large recall, and Chrysler says it is "casting the net wider than necessary to identify those vehicles that require repair." The automaker estimates that "as many as 726,000 may not need repair."
Jay Leno gets his denim mitts on Dodge's new Challenger Hellcat
Mon, 04 Aug 2014The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is definitely the performance car of the moment. The fact that in the near future, people will be able to buy a 707-horsepower muscle machine straight from a major automaker for $59,995 and with a factory warranty almost seems absurd. We drove it recently and found the Hellcat to be just as much of a beast as its numbers would suggest. Now, it's a certain comedian's turn behind the wheel in the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage.
This week's guest is Dodge President and CEO Tim Kuniskis, and he's there to drop all sorts of interesting factoids about the Hellcat. For example, its Pirelli P Zero tires retail at around $300 each, he says. That makes its smoky burnouts a rather expensive proposition. Kuniskis, who recently hinted at a mystery Woodward Dream Cruise debut, also talks about the genesis of the 2015 SRT project with a goal to get over some of the standard Challenger's weight and size disadvantages. The fix is a supercharged V8, massive brakes and other goodies to smooth over the platform's more glaring shortcomings.
Leno appears to get a big kick out of the Hellcat. However, he can't seem to stop bringing up his desire to drive one with a six-speed manual. They obviously exist, but Kuniskis has an eight-speed automatic for the retired Tonight Show host to try out. Of course, as with any Hellcat video, there has to be at least one burnout. Despite the expensive tires, it seems like enthusiast's law at this point - and dear ol' Jay wouldn't want to break any rules, would he?
