1993 DODGE W-250 4X4 CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL Here is your opportunity to own perhaps the best overall vintage 4x4 pick-up ever made. This is a beautiful original 1993 DODGE W-250 Cummins Turbo Diesel. Original! Not juiced up, turned up or otherwise messed with. The truck has absolutely NO rust or and is extremely straight. The four-wheel drive works well and the motor cold starts lighting fast and just purrs. This truck has NOT been worked, never a fifth wheel hitch installed and it only had a bumper ball mount when I bought it. I recently installed a new class 3 hitch. Under the bed liner, the original bed in perfectly straight, no waves and heavy loads like most of these trucks. The paint looks pretty damn good, and truck drives as it should...like a truck, not a “car-truck.” It is a stiff ride, it is noisy, but to me...that’s part of the charm. It’s like a BIG RIG! It gets around 18-22 miles per gallon pulling your house down the highway or empty. The truck only has 203k miles, which for this rig, is nothing.... PAYMENT AND STORAGE
A $500 deposit is required from the winning bidder, due electronically via PayPal within 24 hours after the auction ends, to hold the vehicle. I do not accept Paypal for payments over $500. Deposits only. I will not be accepting trades. Respectfully, please bid responsibly by having any required financing in place before committing to purchase the vehicle as full payment is due within 7 days of auction end via cash or certified bank check (drawn on a major US bank). I can hold the vehicle for 15 days at no charge to the winning bidder after the auction (the charge is $15.00 per day after 15 days unless other arrangement made). I apologize in advance, but bidders with zero feedback will have their bids canceled, no matter what the amount, unless you contact me in advance of bidding. Bidders outside North America (anywhere other than the US, Canada, or Mexico “mainland”) are welcome to bid, but also must phone me before bidding.
The truck is an LE optioned truck with power windows, power locks, tilt wheel and ice cold air conditioning. The truck is clean but the carpet could use replacing. These trucks are highly sought after, and this truck has been stolen twice since new. According to Carfax, it was recovered quickly both times. However...it was in Arizona for the last theft, and Arizona is one of eleven U.S. states that when recovered issue a Salvage Title to identify theft recovery. Read it yourself on line. I had a tire blow out a few weeks ago...and the peeling tread did dent the passengers rocker panel a bit. However...its not easy to see. Also...there is a small dent center tailgate where the trailer I was pulling jumped off the ball. If you have questions, please contact Houston Wills at 210-548-1310. You will NOT be disappointed. |

Gas prices down, 707-hp engine production up... USA!
Tue, Jun 30 2015On Saturday, the United States of America will celebrate its 239th birthday. That means fireworks, barbecues, block parties, and, oh yeah, Hellcat engines and low fuel prices. The most American of (Mexican-built) powerplants, the big, loud, supercharged, 707-horsepower Hemi is slated for yet another production boost to match up with some serious demand, while the dino juice it runs on is cheaper than it's been in over half a decade. The Saltillo, Mexico engine factory already produces some 4,000 Hellcat engines each year – that's in addition to the Tigershark four-cylinder, the 5.7-liter Hemi, and 6.4-liter SRT Hemi V8s – and it's not entirely clear how many more might get added to that total. What we do know, though, is that Fiat Chrysler can't build the engines fast enough. "We're going to build more [Hellcats] for 2016," SRT boss Tim Kuniskis told Automotive News. "It's a small sliver of what we sell, but it really creates a halo for the rest of the lineup. For example, the next highest car, the Scat Pack Challenger, I have essentially a zero-day supply. It's sold out." This bit of good news comes on the back of something equally good – low summer gas prices. According to the US Energy Information Administration, the nationwide average for for "all formulations" of fuel in June sits at $2.885. Ignoring the remarkably low prices we saw in January and February of this year – figures that themselves hadn't been seen since May of 2009 – the national average hasn't sat that low since October 2010. So yes, it's a very a good time to be an American gearhead. 40+ cars that barely avoid the gas guzzler tax
Thu, 24 Jul 2014
The Gas Guzzler schedule, with mpg ratings and charges that haven't changed since 1991, lays out which fuel-swillers owe what to Uncle Sam.
I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.
NHTSA closes investigation on 4.7M FCA power modules, no recall
Thu, Jul 30 2015FCA US hasn't had the best time with recalls as of late. Not only did the company recently agree to greater safety oversight and paid $105 million to the government, that came just days after hacking fears prompted a 1.4-million model recall campaign. However, a recent decision to close an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration means that the automaker doesn't have to worry about another major recall possibly affecting 4.7 million vehicles, according to the agency's report (as a PDF). Last September, the Center for Auto Safety petitioned NHTSA to investigate an alleged problem with the totally integrated power module (TIPM) on these FCA US models. The group claimed that a fault with the component could cause a variety of maladies, including stalls, not starting, catching fire, unintended acceleration, and airbag non-deployment. At the time, it also submitted 70 cases where this had reportedly happened. According to NHTSA, "no valid evidence was presented in support of claims related to airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration, or fire resulting from TIPM faults and these claims were found to be wholly without merit based on review of the field data and design of the relevant systems and components." The agency did find signs of an issue with the fuel pump relay in some Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Durangos, but FCA US issued recalls for the problem in September 2014 and February 2015. Without anything else to go on, the Feds don't think it's worth investigating this topic any more.
