This fully restored 1986 Dodge D150 short bed pick-up is for sale.  It has been repainted the original brilliant Graphic Red exterior color with coordinating black and maroon custom interior.  All exterior trim and bumpers are new or NOS, including wheel arch trim and cab stainless trim. It is equipped with the Chrysler Slant Six 225 cubic inch six cylinder engine famous for its endurance and 904 3-speed Automatic transmission with steering column shifter. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly. The engine starts quickly, idles smoothly and runs with normal six cylinder performance. Exact mileage is unknown.

It has factory A/C, power steering, power brakes, power door locks, window tint, 4-speaker Dodge OEM AM/FM Stereo with CD player, Hirschmann power antennae, Viper Alarm System with two remotes, custom in-dash Auto Meter gauges (oil pressure, tachometer, water temperature), auxiliary fuse panel (behind glove box) Ultra mag wheels. Five Goodyear Fortera Triple Tred Radial P235/75R15 M+S tires, Monroe shocks front and rear and rebuilt front suspension, Air Lift rear air springs with automatic air compressor (maintains minimum of 10 PSI) and dash control panel to raise or lower air pressure in air springs, power disk front brakes and drum rear brakes, Sylvania Silver Star Halogen high performance headlights, Hella fog lights, Recon LED light bar below tailgate, factory trailer mirrors and Class III tow bar and Master Lock stainless 2” ball. Factory jack with folding handle and lug nut wrench.

The engine compartment has been generally kept in OEM condition with all OEM equipment. A SPAL automatic electric fan has replaced the stock fan for performance and cooling purposes. A K&N air filter is used in the stock air cleaner. New radiator, radiator hoses and heater hoses, A/C compressor, dryer and hoses, Holley 1945 1BBL carburetor, intake and exhaust manifolds, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, 8mm yellow ignition wires, coil, alternator, starter, drive belts, voltage regulator, Diehard premium battery, battery cables, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines and full stock exhaust system.

Pick-up bed has been professionally sprayed with Rhino Liner, and has a cargo light, movable cargo hold-downs and beautiful Putco stainless bed rails with tailgate stainless cover. Interior has an adjustable custom 40-20-40 high back maroon velour bench seat with head rests and fold down middle seat/console with storage compartment below seat, black dash, new black door panels, new black sun visors, Grant cushioned steering wheel and Dodge horn button, three new black seat belts, map light, black carpet, heavy rubber Ram logo floor mats, floor CD storage console with drink holders and coin holders, ignition switch, floor convenience lights, lighted glove box, fire extinguisher, auxiliary starting battery, nylon tow cable, large flashlight, tool kit, full set of factory repair and parts manuals and Dynamat sound and heat insulation on the floor and doors. Almost all of the interior is new.

Full lightweight cover for the truck. Wherever possible, factory NOS parts were used in this restoration. I also have many new and used spare parts including a new distributor, new 2 BBL carburetor, 2 BBL intake manifold and kick down rods, used alternator and several new fuel pumps that go with the truck.

Minor exterior paint bubbles on front fenders and hood due to covered outside storage. All sheet metal is OEM. Dent in right rear wheel stainless trim. Needs new door hinge pins and bushings installed.  Door hinge parts go with the truck.

This would be a perfect truck for conversion to a larger 440 cu in or HEMI V8 engine. Optionally, the included 2 BBL carburetor and intake manifold could be installed for better performance.

I have invested over $36,000 in this truck and am offering it for sale to the highest offer (over reserve price), includes all spare parts, new and used.

Dodge Charger Hellcat and Tesla Model S P85D in Motor Trend Head 2 Head battle

Thu, Apr 30 2015

One has James Bond Mode, Insane Mode, Creep Mode, and, yes, Insane Creep Mode. The other has 707 horsepower and is a heck of a lot cheaper. But which one is the bigger American badass? We figure most people already have strong opinions on the Dodge Charger Hellcat and Tesla Model S P85D, and they aren't likely to be swayed too far in the opposite direction by another person's viewpoint. Still, we think you'll enjoy watching the video above. In it, Autoblog friend and Motor Trend "Head 2 Head" host Jonny Lieberman summons smoke, shares smiles, and spouts spiels about both cars, finally finding one just slightly more badass than the other. Which ridiculously ludicrous American sedan takes top honors? Watch above to find out. NHTSA closes investigation on 4.7M FCA power modules, no recall

Thu, Jul 30 2015

FCA US hasn't had the best time with recalls as of late. Not only did the company recently agree to greater safety oversight and paid $105 million to the government, that came just days after hacking fears prompted a 1.4-million model recall campaign. However, a recent decision to close an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration means that the automaker doesn't have to worry about another major recall possibly affecting 4.7 million vehicles, according to the agency's report (as a PDF). Last September, the Center for Auto Safety petitioned NHTSA to investigate an alleged problem with the totally integrated power module (TIPM) on these FCA US models. The group claimed that a fault with the component could cause a variety of maladies, including stalls, not starting, catching fire, unintended acceleration, and airbag non-deployment. At the time, it also submitted 70 cases where this had reportedly happened. According to NHTSA, "no valid evidence was presented in support of claims related to airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration, or fire resulting from TIPM faults and these claims were found to be wholly without merit based on review of the field data and design of the relevant systems and components." The agency did find signs of an issue with the fuel pump relay in some Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Durangos, but FCA US issued recalls for the problem in September 2014 and February 2015. Without anything else to go on, the Feds don't think it's worth investigating this topic any more.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
