This auction is for a 1934 Dodge KC factory suicide door truck. This was a 100% original and rust free southern truck when it got a paint job about 4 years ago. The paint is a single stage and has a great shine to it. There are a few chips and scratches in it now but nothing major. All the metal is very straight, no dents. There has never been any rust through on this truck, it is super solid. I cannot find any evidence of rust repair on the truck.  Everything fits and closes like it should. The drivetrain is the original flathead inline 6 cylinder mated to a 3 speed manual transmission and it runs very good.  Compression is good on all cylinders. It has good oil pressure, does not smoke and never overheats. It has the tilt out slide lock windshield. The dodge now has fiberglass front and rear fenders because the guy who owned it before me did not want to straighten the banged up metal ones before he painted it. They are very thick high quality fenders. The side mount spare tire has an original J.C. Penny tire on it. There are two things on the truck that do not work. The first is the cowl vent. It seems to have sheared the hinge pins that keep it on track so it will not stay open. The second is all the gauges work except for the fuel gauge. When I had the gas tank professionally restored I could not find the correct sender and just put the old one that didn't work back in. I just fill it up before I go out for the day, never had a problem running out of gas. I drive this truck all the time and never have any issues. The odometer says 15136 miles which I was told by the previous owner it is correct, and from the condition of parts on the truck like the instrument cluster I would not doubt it. I have a clear title in my name. Call Jim at 815-252-7247. This truck is located in Peru, IL. Here is your chance to own one of these factory suicide door trucks that rarely come up for auction in complete original condition. These trucks are getting close to $50K in the big auctions for a fully restored example.

Here is a list of what I have done to it:

  • NOS carburetor
  • Rewired the whole truck - still running 6V positive ground.
  • New light bulbs
  • All new fluids and lubed chassis
  • Polished the paint
  • New tires
  • New plugs, wires, coil & regulator
  • Rebuilt starter and generator
  • Rebuilt master cylinder and wheel cylinders
  • Flushed radiator and coolant system
  • Restored and sealed the gas tank
  • Running boards are sealed with spray on bedliner material (they are completely solid underneath - no rust)
  • Oak bed stake rails
  • Gray powdercoat on wheels and interior window trim
  • Blue dot tail lights - all glass
  • Period correct turn signals on the headlight buckets

Is Mopar readying a special-edition Dart for Chicago?

Sat, 26 Jan 2013

Chrysler has released the above teaser of a limited-edition Mopar 2013 model that will be unveiled at next month's Chicago Auto Show. Although the automaker doesn't announce what vehicle will get the Mopar treatment, closer investigation of the seats and center console suggest that this car will be a special version of the 2013 Dodge Dart.
This will be the fourth Mopar model in as many years, following on the heels of the Mopar 2010 Challenger, Mopar 2011 Charger and the Mopar '2012 300. There are no details for the Mopar '13 Dart, but we do see that the car will retain the signature black-and-blue color scheme as past Mopar editions. Like these previous models, we expect production of Mopar '13 Dart to be limited to just 500 units.
Scroll down for Chrysler's press release teasing the new Mopar model, and we'll be sure to bring you plenty of live images from the show floor in a couple weeks.

Watch the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat verify its 204-mph top speed

Thu, Jan 29 2015

The industry is producing some ridiculously fast four-doors these days, from the Porsche Panamera and Maserati Quattroporte to the Mercedes E63 AMG and BMW M5. But the fastest of them all doesn't cost six figures. It doesn't even come from Europe. It's made right here in North America, by a US automaker. And it starts at under $64k. We're talking about the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, the Pentastar muscle sedan with the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 and its 707 horsepower. Dodge claims it's the "quickest, fastest, most powerful [production] sedan ever," and they're not just blowing smoke... or smoking tires. During the final stages of development, engineers from Auburn Hills took a bone-stock, Hellcat-powered Charger out to a seven-mile oval for a top speed run and they filmed the occasion for posterity. The result? 206.9 miles per hour with the wind, 202.2 against it, for a two-way average top speed of 204.55 mph. Chew on that, imports.

FCA's shifter fiasco proves novel gear selectors are a bad idea

Tue, Feb 9 2016

What's wrong with PRNDL? Why are automakers trying to overly complicate the simple task of selecting gears? If there's any lesson to learn from the recent news that NHTSA is investigating 853,000 Fiat Chrysler vehicles over its problematic gear selectors, it's that the trend of fancy shifters needs to stop. Now. Last year, NHTSA opened an investigation into Jeep Grand Cherokee models, and has now expanded this probe to include the 2012-14 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger. The problem? The shifter – assembled by ZF – is confusing for many drivers. "Testing ... indicates that operation of the (electronic) shifter is not intuitive and provides poor tactile and visual feedback to the driver, increasing the potential for unintended gear selection," a NHTSA document states. More than 100 crashes and over a dozen injuries are linked to this problem, according to The Detroit Free Press. To us, the problem isn't just limited to FCA. These unnecessarily novel gear selectors are spreading like wildfire across the industry. Honda and Acura use a weird pushbutton setup. Lincolns have buttons on the dashboard. Jaguar's shifter electronically raises out of the center console. Mercedes uses a stalk with up-for-Reverse, down-for-Drive, push-for-Neutral arrangement. And what the hell is BMW thinking with its M cars? FCA has since abandoned the confusing shifters in question. The 300, Charger, and Grand Cherokee now use the rotary shift dial that's quickly proliferating across the company's brands. Simplistic gear selectors might not be sexy, but no one ever complained about not being able to find the right gear in a Hyundai Sonata. What's most interesting is that this NHTSA investigation could push FCA – and possibly other automakers – to redesign vehicle functions that otherwise operate as designed. Just because most people will never have a problem putting a Dodge Charger in Reverse doesn't mean there isn't a flaw with the design. But perhaps a more simplistic solution – good ol' PRNDL – would have prevented these issues from the start.
