You are bidding on a 2005 Dodge Neon SRT4,

For those of you viewing this auction that know about the SRT4 the car needs no introduction but, for those of you that may need some info to brush up on the SRT4 Neon I have included some links below so you can get familiar with this model to better understand what they were all about and what made them so special. Before you take the time to view the links let me tell you about this SRT4's story & condition, if I miss anything that you may still be wondering about please feel free to contact me I will answer questions as soon as I see them. 1-920-680-7629 ask for Tony Thanks for viewing my auction and good luck to all bidders!!

Condition of this SRT4:

For the most part the pictures speak for themselves, this is as new as it gets and honestly as nice as the pictures are, this car is sooo much nicer in person! It has lived the pampered life of a garage queen stored inside of a heated garage covered and only used as a car-show/sunny weather toy. It has been adult owned since new and been maintained as a future collectible vehicle as I believe the SRT4 Neon is the last of its kind... When I say that I don't just mean the last of the 03-05 SRT's I mean the last of the pure driver focused sport compact cars devoid of excess electronic gadgets that have created 3000+ pound tanks out of what used to be a market segment that was all about being lite & nimble. (ok rant complete LOL)

This is a accident free vehicle and the paint on this car is all original it's free of dents, dings, scratches and paint chips. This car has NEVER been driver in rain, snow or any other bad weather. All of the trim and weather stripping are in like new condition with ZERO discoloration, cracks or wear. The door sills are scuff free and all of the badges are PERFECT and like new! Inside the car the seats are like new and the carpets have always been covered by heavy-duty all weather floor mats to catch any debris that might otherwise be tracked into the car. The original floor mats have never been used and are included with the car when it sells. The dash, door panels, center-consul and head liner are also in perfect like new condition... That is only part of the WOW factor of the interior, what will really impress is that "New Car Smell" that hits you when you open the door and the airbag warning tag still hanging from the glove box that I have resisted cutting off since owning the car! The engine bay is super clean with no dirt or damage all of the factory markings on the shocks, airbox, fuse cover etc... are original and in place as if the car just rolled off the assemble line! (in the pictures you can see the added Mopar strut tower brace, I will cover the vehicles modifications below.) The trunk of this car is in like new condition the jack and spare tire have never been used and the carpet in the trunk has always been protected by the heavy-duty rubber trunk mat. All 4 wheels on the car are in new condition and free of any curb rash or damage of any kind and the BFG KDW tires are the factory original rubber with no signs of cracking or age to be found.

All of the electronics in the car work like new and all of the buttons/switches are void of any wear. The stereo sounds fantastic and accepts multiple CD's, the heat/AC heats quickly and cools quickly, the power windows open & close quickly and the wipers etc work like new. Mechanically the car is as you would guess perfect and functions like new the oil is regularly changed even when not being driven and the engine is regularly started and brought up to operating temp to keep the seals from failing. When in extended storage the fuel is never more than 1/4 tank full and stabil is added to keep the fuel fresh. When in extended storage the battery is also disconnected and put on a batter tender.. The battery in the pictures is a new mopar battery that was recently replaced... I had to  learn that one the hard way. LOL! All in all I can't stress enough how nice this car is or how rare it is to see a SRT4 in this condition! These are drivers cars commonly used to autocross, street race, drag race etc... and finding one that has not been abused is getting increasingly difficult. If you are a fan of fast turbocharged sport compact cars and looking for the best of the best this is the one you want!!

(IMPORTANT NOTE! 2005 SRT4's have a factory Limited Slip Diff for better traction and they also have increased Horsepower over 2003 SRT4's)

(Also included with the sale of  the car is all paper work for the car, owners manuals, window sticker, original bill of sale, letters from Dodge to original owner, brochure, receipts for maintenance & Mopar accessories etc... and all the original parts that were replaced with Mopar performance upgrades)

Story behind this SRT4's low miles:

I'll keep this as short and sweet as I can because I know I have alot of info to read through already... The car was purchased new by a friend of mine as a college graduation gift for his son, my friend at that time was the service manager at the Dodge dealer the car was purchased from. It was prepped special from the dealer with the Mopar performance Strut tower bars front & rear, lowering springs, sway bars, rear end-links, short throw shifter, gauges and BOV. (all modifications are Mopar parts and only Mopar parts installed by certified Dodge technicians) The car was kept at the dealer as it was finished early and was to be a surprise on graduation day. 2 weeks before graduation day my friends son got a letter of acceptance to a very large engineering firm that included with employment a sign on bonus... With that bonus my friends son picked up a used 911 Porsche (his dream car) not knowing that his dad had purchased this SRT4 for him. It sounds bad I know but it actually worked out ok because my friend is kind of a turbo Mopar/Mitsubishi geek from way back (he owned a couple turbo colts, a Conquest TSI, and aOmni GLHS over the years) so he kept the car for himself until finally selling it to me to finish the restoration on one of his British cars and I have been keeping it as a garage queen ever since.

Additional Information about Dodge's SRT4 Neon: (see text & links below)

Power: SAE 215 hp (2003 model)

Power: SAE 230 hp (2004–2005 models) In 2004, the SRT-4 received a power increase, with larger fuel injectors and a recalibrated engine computer.

Manufacturer's specification when the SRT-4 was released was 230 hp. However, several independent tests have produced results indicating 230-238 wheel horse power and 250-262 lb-ft. This would indicate that the SRT-4 produces more power than the manufacturer claims. The flywheel power is estimated to be around 265-270 hp and around 285-300 lb-ft.

Torque: 245 lb·ft @ 3200-4200 rpm (2003 model)

250 lb·ft @ 2400-4400 rpm (2004–2005 models)

0-60 mph time: 5.6s (2003) 5.3s (2004, 2005) (Car and Driver)

Rev Limiter/Redline:       6240

1/4 mile time:    14.1s (2003) 13.9s (2004, 2005)

1/4 mile speed: 102 mph (2003) 103 mph (2004, 2005)

Top speed:  Car and Driver magazine achieved a maximum speed of 153 mph

China-FCA merger could be a win-win for everyone but politicians

Tue, Aug 15 2017

NEW YORK — Fiat Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne has said the car industry needs to come together, cut costs and stop incinerating capital. So far, his words have mostly fallen on deaf ears among competitors in Europe and North America. But it appears Marchionne has finally found a receptive audience — in China. FCA shares soared Monday after trade publication Automotive News reported the $18 billion Italian-American conglomerate controlled by the Agnelli family rebuffed a takeover from an unidentified carmaker from the Chinese mainland. As ugly as the politics of such a combination may appear at first blush, a transaction could stack up industrially, and perhaps even financially. A Sino-U.S.-European merger would create the first truly global auto group. That could push consolidation to the next level elsewhere. Moreover, China is the world's top market for the SUVs that Jeep effectively invented, so it might benefit FCA financially. A combo would certainly help upgrade the domestic manufacturer; Chinese carmakers have gotten better at making cars, but struggle to build global brands, and they need to develop export markets. Though frivolous overseas shopping excursions by Chinese enterprises are being reined in by Beijing, acquisitions that support the modernization and transformation of strategic industries still receive support, and the government considers the automotive industry to be strategic. A purchase of FCA by Guangzhou Automobile, Great Wall or Dongfeng Motors would probably get the same stamp of approval ChemChina was given for its $43 billion takeover of Syngenta. What's standing in the way? Apart from price (Automotive News said FCA's board deemed the offer insufficient) there's the not-insignificant matter of politics. Even as FCA shares soared, President Donald Trump interrupted his vacation to instruct the U.S. Trade Representative to look into whether to investigate China's trade policies on intellectual property. Seeing storied Detroit brands like Jeep, Chrysler, Ram and Dodge handed off to a Chinese company would provoke howls among Trump's economic-nationalist supporters. It might not play well in Italy, either, to see Alfa Romeo and Maserati answering to Wuhan instead of Turin — though Automotive News said they might be spun off separately. Yet, as Morgan Stanley observes, "cars don't ship across oceans easily," and political considerations increasingly demand local manufacture of valuable products.

Brand new cars are being sold with defective Takata airbags

Wed, Jun 1 2016

If you just bought a 2016 Audi TT, 2017 Audi R8, 2016–17 Mitsubishi i-MiEV, or 2016 Volkswagen CC, we have some unsettling news for you. A report provided to a US Senate committee that oversees the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and reported on by Automotive News claims these vehicles were sold with defective Takata airbags. And it gets worse. Toyota and FCA are called out in the report for continuing to build vehicles that will need to be recalled down the line for the same issue. That's not all. The report also states that of the airbags that have been replaced already in the Takata recall campaign, 2.1 million will need to eventually be replaced again. They don't have the drying agent that prevents the degradation of the ammonium nitrate, which can lead to explosions that can destroy the airbag housing and propel metal fragments at occupants. So these airbags are out there already. We're not done yet. There's also a stockpile of about 580,000 airbags waiting to be installed in cars coming in to have their defective airbags replaced. These 580k airbags also don't have the drying agent. They'll need to be replaced down the road, too. A new vehicle with a defective Takata airbag should be safe to drive, but that margin of safety decreases with time. If all this has you spinning around in a frustrated, agitated mess, there's a silver lining that is better than it sounds. So take a breath, run your fingers through your hair, and read on. Our best evidence right now demonstrates that defective Takata airbags – those without the drying agent that prevents humidity from degrading the ammonium nitrate propellant – aren't dangerous yet. It takes a long period of time combined with high humidity for them to reach the point where they can rupture their housing and cause serious injury. It's a matter of years, not days. So a new vehicle with a defective Takata airbag should be safe to drive, but that margin of safety decreases with time – and six years seems to be about as early as the degradation happens in the worst possible scenario. All this is small comfort for the millions of people who just realized their brand-new car has a time bomb installed in the wheel or dashboard, or the owners who waited patiently to have their airbags replaced only to discover that the new airbag is probably defective in the same way (although newer and safer!) as the old one.

Jay Leno's Dodge Challenger raises $585k for USO in Scottsdale

Mon, Jan 19 2015

Of all the metal moved in Scottsdale, AZ, this holiday weekend, the one you see here was hardly the most expensive. But it's noteworthy for another reason: despite being a relatively humble, second-hand 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8, raised an impressive $565,625. That's because, first of all, it belonged to Jay Leno, and secondly because the proceeds were going to the USO. Leno donated the modern muscle car from his collection to benefit our men and women in uniform, and was on hand to present the car on stage at the Gooding & Company auction, along with USO president J.D. Crouch II and former Army chief of staff General George W. Casey, Jr. After frenzied and patriotic bidding, the gavel ultimately dropped at $360,000, accompanied by over $200,000 in additional contributions, bringing the total amount donated to the USO to over half a million. Commendable though it was, of course the Challenger didn't garner the highest bids at the auction. A 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider sold for $7.7 million and a 1968 Ferrari 330 GTS fetched $2.4 million. A rare 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Series I Coupe Aerodinamico sold for over $4,070,000 – which, according to Sports Car Market, is the most ever paid at auction for a 400 Superamerica. And a 1966 Porsche 906 Carrera 6 also sold for a record $1.98 million.
