NOTE!!   This is a NO RESERVE  auction, the winner will be the new owner of this vehicle!!

NOTE!!  This is a MANUAL TRANSMISSION (also known as STICK SHIFT) car.

This listing is for a 2004 Neon SE 4 door sedan.  I have too many cars so I am selling my Neon that I bought new in the spring of 2005.  It is the base SE model Neon with a 5 speed stick shift and manual windows and locks.  I taught my daughter how to drive stick shift and she took the car to Illinois College (about 200 miles from Chicago) where she used it sparingly until she finished her degree.  When it came back home, I took it over and I added a spoiler, fender flaps, side moldings, striping, fog lights, alloy 15' wheels, chrome interior door handles, front seat covers, floor mats, a nice stereo radio with the song messages, a CD changer and a dash cluster with white gauges and a tachometer. When I added the dash cluster, the mileage jumped up from about the approximate actual mileage of 23,000 to a mileage of about 123,000 since the mileage shown was that of the host salvage yard car.  I still have that original dash cluster (which still shows about 23,000 miles) and you are welcome to have it with the car. If you do the AutoCheck report you will see that sudden spike in the mileage.  So the ACTUAL mileage of this vehicle is about 47,000 at this point. And with all my improvements I figured I could add an SXT tag on the back!  See my pictures to determine the cosmetic condition of the car, it is not perfect but pretty good for a 10 year old vehicle. There are no mechanical issues that I am aware of, it is totally drivable and gets good gas mileage. The interior of the car is very nice, the front seats have been covered almost the entire life of the vehicle and the chrome door handles really dress it up.

* I have listed the ACTUAL mileage of about 47,000 although the odometer reading will be about 100,000 more because of the instrument cluster swap.

There is absolutely NO deceit intended, I just like to fool around with cars.  This car is being sold as is with no warranty implied.  It can be picked up on the northwest side of Chicago or shipping can be arranged through UShip or your favorite auto transport company.  I can furnish recommendations if you wish.  Payment will be made by cashier’s check within one week of the end of the auction or by cash in person when picking it up.  Happy bidding!

1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.

Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat in the works

Fri, 25 Jul 2014

In Autoblog's recent First Drive of the 2015 Challenger SRT with the 707-horsepower Hellcat V8 we found its engine to be as brutally powerful as the numbers would suggest, even if it wasn't the best handler. However, the muscle-car-styling just isn't right for some buyers that need four doors and proper rear seats to haul around the family. It appears that Dodge has their backs, though, because the Hellcat is very likely on its way into the Charger in the near future. Imagine the looks on your passengers' faces when you stomp down on the throttle.
According to Road and Track, when Dodge submitted the Hellcat for engine power certification to the Society of Automotive Engineers, the company included the Charger on the paperwork. That showed that the automaker wanted the engine checked out for the sedan, too. R&T reckons the 707-hp Charger would hit the road about a year from now, clearing the Challenger for a year of exclusivity with the powerplant.
When the Charger SRT Hellcat does hit the road, it may carry a very special accolade. Assuming nothing beats it in the meantime, it might be the world's highest horsepower production sedan. Think on that for a second. Even a Mercedes S65 AMG only has 621 horsepower, though a good bit more torque at 738 pound-feet to the Dodge's 650 lb-ft. So while the beastly engine is getting put into other models, where else would you like to see it? The Ram? Grand Cherokee? Let us know in Comments.

Chrysler Recalling 870,000 SUVs For Brake Defect

Wed, Apr 2 2014

Chrysler is recalling nearly 870,000 SUVs because corrosion may make the vehicles' brakes harder to use. Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from the 2011 through 2014 model years are involved. Chrysler says crimp joints in the brake boosters can corrode if they're exposed to water. If the water freezes, the boosters won't aid braking as they usually do. Chrysler began investigating after some customers said their brakes felt too firm when pressed down. The company knows of one accident, but no injuries, due to the defect. Dealers will install a shield to protect the boosters for free and replace boosters that aren't working properly. Chrysler has since changed the design to make the boosters more corrosion resistant. Chrysler will notify owners of the recall, which involves 867,795 vehicles.
