2003 Dodge Neon SXT. Automatic. Sporty spoiler, awesome after market stereo plays mp3 cds and has a wire for for Apple 30 pin connection and a standard auxiliary in / stereo (headphone connector) as well as USB port so you can just put mp3s on a flash drive. Power windows, power mirrors, power locks.  101,000 miles. Car is spacious and clean inside and really a great car I wish I could keep.

Selling this car as I simply cannot afford it in NYC. Insurance is $300 a month in NYC and I cant afford that so Im selling the car. I bought this in South New Jersey where I used it for 3 years. Insurance there was $86.00 dollars and had no issues with that. Here it is $300+ for me and gas is more and cost of living is more and my beloved baby must go.

The car about 1.5 year ago stopped changing gears. I brought it into a shop who advised me transmission was strong and must be a output speed sensor. Changed sensor and car was fine for 6 months but issue returned. Brought this time to Giufre Dodge a better shop here in the city and they advised same thing, transmission is perfect and strong and issue was wiring harness. They repaired wiring harness and car fine still.

The only current issue with this car is it needs motor mounts. Motor mounts are notorious for going on pretty much every car and this is normal. Because the motor mounts are bad the engine vibrates a lot and this broke off muffler connection so car sounds a little bad or weak as exhaust connection needs to be fixed. If your a weekend mechanic, probably $300 and couple hours. If you bring it to shop probably $500 will have car perfect. I drive it with these issues and ignore them. I dont care if engine vibrates and I dont care if it sounds lousy, it works. It gets me where im going every time. Engine is perfect, transmission is perfect, and this car drives perfectly fine besides the heavy vibration of motor and exhaust sound.

Only about 100k miles is great and this car lived almost its entire life doing highway miles in South New Jersey where I bought it. I have original sales slip from dealer and believe Im the second owner. Its only been in NY for this last year and the rest South NJ (Haddington Heights & Burlington) easy going highways.

NHTSA closes investigation on 4.7M FCA power modules, no recall

Thu, Jul 30 2015

FCA US hasn't had the best time with recalls as of late. Not only did the company recently agree to greater safety oversight and paid $105 million to the government, that came just days after hacking fears prompted a 1.4-million model recall campaign. However, a recent decision to close an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration means that the automaker doesn't have to worry about another major recall possibly affecting 4.7 million vehicles, according to the agency's report (as a PDF). Last September, the Center for Auto Safety petitioned NHTSA to investigate an alleged problem with the totally integrated power module (TIPM) on these FCA US models. The group claimed that a fault with the component could cause a variety of maladies, including stalls, not starting, catching fire, unintended acceleration, and airbag non-deployment. At the time, it also submitted 70 cases where this had reportedly happened. According to NHTSA, "no valid evidence was presented in support of claims related to airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration, or fire resulting from TIPM faults and these claims were found to be wholly without merit based on review of the field data and design of the relevant systems and components." The agency did find signs of an issue with the fuel pump relay in some Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Durangos, but FCA US issued recalls for the problem in September 2014 and February 2015. Without anything else to go on, the Feds don't think it's worth investigating this topic any more.

Why the Charger Hellcat can't be ordered with a manual transmission

Sun, 16 Nov 2014

Fans of truly irreverent amounts of horsepower will find lots to love in the form of the 2015 Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcat models. Both of them send 707 ridiculous horsepower to the rear wheels; the only question is whether you want your absurdity delivered with two or four doors. Oh, and whether or not you want the option of a manual transmission.
If you prefer rowing your own gears, the choice is made for you; there is no manual gearbox option available on the Charger Hellcat, or any Charger model at all, for that matter. Wonder why? Well, besides the fact that almost nobody - sorry, clutch fans, but it's true - would choose to buy a Charger with a manual transmission, that is? The answer, according to an industry insider in a post written on Jalopnik's Opposite Lock forum, is the floorpan.
It's probably not a surprise to most of our readers that the Dodge Challenger and Charger share a large portion of their chassis structure, which is codenamed LX at Chrysler, but there are still some significant differences under the skin due to the shorter wheelbase and two-door coupe bodyshell of the Challenger, as opposed to the sedan shape of the Charger. One of the differences is the floorpan, the huge chunk of sheetmetal that makes up the floor of the car and props up such essential items as the car's seats.

Guy trying to sell Challenger Hellcat for $89,000 because VIN ends in '666'

Mon, Jul 27 2015

The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is undoubtedly one of the baddest cars on the road today. With a 707-horsepower supercharged V8 snarling under the hood, the coupe can go down the road like a bat out of hell. There's not much that could make one of these muscle machines much more menacing, but a seller on Craigslist has one bizarre solution: offering a hellacious Hellcat with a VIN marking the Dodge as the beastly 666. What's the price for such unholy identification? That's a cool $89,000 – around $30,000 more than a brand new, less sacrilegious example. The seller claims that the Challenger's blasphemous number makes the vehicle "one of a kind," which is true only to the extent that VINs ending 665 and 667 would be similarly unique. The seller also says in the Craigslist ad, "This car is sure to become a collector's item and will only increase in value." There's no question that the Hellcat is a special machine, and the models just might be worth something decades into the future. Expecting that a future owner is going to care about the VIN seems pretty optimistic, though, unless this is either the first or last example, which it's not. To the credit of this superstitious seller, the Challenger appears completely untouched with all of the warning stickers, paperwork and even the plastic still covering the seats. So, the new owner is at least getting a practically untouched example. While we applaud audacity here, a roughly $30,000 premium for an unholy VIN seems a bit... devilish.
