2002 Dodge Neon Se Sedan 4-door 2.0l Does Not Run Needs Work on 2040-cars

Year:2002 Mileage:142205

Rockport, Texas, United States

I'm selling my 2002 Dodge Neon SE for parts or repair. I bought the car on ebay and discovered it needs far more done to it than I thought. It currently DOES NOT RUN and will need to be towed away by the winning bidder. I have most of the parts needed for the repairs and I have removed most of the defective parts myself but due to my current poor health I can no longer work on the vehicle. Outside is in fair shape with some minor hail damage and a few deep scratches and fading paint on the trunk lid and rear fascia. Interior is fair but needs a cleaning. (Interior was dirty when I received the car; didn't get time to clean it thoroughly.) It needs the following items replaced:
1. valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals
2. lower radiator hose
3. air filter and PCV valve
4. drive belts and the drive belt tensioner assembly
5. upper and lower motor torque mounts
6. radiator cap and thermostat
7. transmission fluid changed and filter and pan gasket replaced
8. spark plugs, wires, and coil pack
9. lower front control arms and ball joints and new bushings for the stabilizer bar links
10. alternator
11. AC compressor (was blowing cold air before but compressor clutch was starting to seize up)

Once the car is fixed it should run good. When I received it #2 spark plug was oil soaked, #3 and #4 were basically fried, the engine shook worse than a paint mixer, and the transmission had almost no fluid in it. I did drain the oil and replaced the oil filter and oil drain plug but did not put oil in it yet due to the fact I was waiting til I changed out the valve cover gasket. I have a 5 qt. bottle of Mobil 5000 10W30 that will be included with the car. I have the following parts already in my possession and will include them with the car when they sell:
1. New USA Industries alternator (not reman.)
2. New Gates drive belts
3. New NGK spark plugs, new coil pack and new plug wires attached to the coil pack already
4. New air filter and PCV valve
5. New Fel-Pro valve cover gasket set with new tube seals, grommets, and the valve cover gasket
6. New Anchor upper and lower engine torque mounts
7. New transmission filter kit with new trans. pan gasket and new filter
8. New Stant radiator cap and Superstat thermostat with Fel-Pro seal
9. New Dorman spark plug tubes

These are the parts I do not have that will need to be purchased by next owner:
1. AC compressor (About $180-$280 depending on store)
2. Drive belt tensioner assembly (Use Gates, they are the best) $138 on Rockauto.com
3. lower control arms and ball joints (Dorman controls arms $42 per side on Rockauto.com)
4. lower radiator hose (about $10-$18)

I have tried to list every and all problems known about the car. There are NO warranties implied or otherwise. Due to my poor health I can no longer work on, and I apologize that the car is not running. I currently have the car on jackstands due to the fact the engine mounts have been removed and the engine is resting on its oil pan (with wood blocks underneath) on a hydraulic floor jack. The motor will have to be raised a little and secured somehow in the engine bay. Please contact me for more info and any other questions and I'll be happy to answer them. The winning bidder will be responsible for picking up the vehicle and any and all shipping costs. The car  MUST BE TOWED to its new home. This is a NO RESERVE auction! highest bidder wins!!!!

2015 Dodge Viper price drops $15k for 2015

Mon, 08 Sep 2014

We recently saw updated specs and new trims of the 2015 Viper, but it looks like the folks at Dodge were saving the biggest surprise for last. Prices on all levels of the American sports car are seeing an immediate, across-the-board price cut of $15,000; even 2014 models still remaining on dealer lots.
The new MSRP for the 2015 Viper in its base SRT trim now starts at $84,995, and when the TA and GTS come to the lineup later next year, they start at $100,995 and $107,995, respectively. The move seems like a swing for the fences that might help to quell slow sales.
Obviously, current Viper owners might be somewhat peeved that their investment was just re-priced by the company. However, to assuage some of their concerns, Dodge is giving all fifth-gen owners a certificate worth $15,000 towards the purchase of a new one, which comes in addition to the price reduction.

Defiance Dodge Charger, saving Earth from aliens isn't clean work [w/video]

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

You'll be forgiven for not having heard about the TV show Defiance - it actually hasn't aired its first episode yet. The new science fiction show about an alien war against Earth in the near future seems like a perfect fit for the SyFy channel, and, apparently one that Dodge saw as a slick marketing opportunity for its Charger sedan.
Here in Chicago, Dodge has given a large corner of its show stand to the Defiance Charger, a car that won't be skipped by any Mad Max fans in attendance at this year's show. The Charger boasts one hell of a gnarly patina under a confusingly welded cage of tube steel, as well as window bars, a grille guard in front, and big, knobby truck tires. There aren't any obvious guns or turrets on the outside of the vehicle, so we can only hope that the characters driving it go well-armed.
Look for the Charger to make its star turn in Defiance when the series premieres on SyFy on April 15 at 9:00 PM EST. Also, there's said to be a Defiance video game in the works, too, so you may get a chance to steer the burly Dodge for yourself. Find a trailer for the show, below, as well.

Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures

Tue, Jun 23 2020

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski  Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.
