"1978 DODGE MAGNUM XE. THE TOTAL DRIVING EXPERIENCE. REKINDLING THE LOVE AFFAIR BETWEEN THE CAR AND THE OPEN ROAD." THESE ARE CHRYSLER'S MAGICAL WORDS USED TO DESCRIBE ONE OF THE LAST EXAMPLES OF THE MOPAR PERFORMANCE ERA. "THE EXHILARATION THAT WAS DRIVING IS BACK. MORE MOVING THAN EVER."

WITH A LIMITED PRODUCTION RUN OF TWO YEARS, THIS IS ALSO ONE OF THE RAREST MODELS EVER PRODUCED. ALTHOUGH APPROXIMATELY 73,000 WERE BUILT IN THE TWO YEARS, HARDLY ANY ARE STILL ON THE ROAD. THIS BEAUTY IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THE MOPAR COLLECTOR- OR JUST ANY CAR PEOPLE THAT ARE SEARCHING FOR THE RARE, THE UNUSUAL, SOMETHING THAT STANDS APART FROM THE REST. DON'T HESITATE ON THIS ONE. THE LAST MOPAR B BODY BUILT. THE LAST MUSCLE CAR FROM THE ERA BY DODGE.

MOST OF THESE MAGNUMS WERE LOST- RUSTED OUT, HAULED AWAY FOR A DATE WITH THE CRUSHER AT THE JUNKYARD. HERE IS A CHANCE TO OWN A REAL 1978 DODGE MAGNUM XE THAT IS NOT ONLY STILL ROADWORTHY, BUT ALSO A NICE, DRIVER QUALITY EXAMPLE. THIS CAR COULD BE MADE EVEN BETTER BY THE NEW OWNER IF THEY CHOOSE. HOW MANY OF THESE HAVE YOU SEEN? WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU REMEMBER ONE AT A CRUISE, SHOW, ETC? LATE SEVENTIES PERFORMANCE CARS ARE BEGINNING TO SKYROCKET IN POPULARITY, DEMAND, AND VALUE. THIS CLASSIC IS PRICED LOW ENOUGH FOR ANYONE TO AFFORD. THIS IS AN INVESTMENT IN THE FUTURE- DON'T WAIT.

The 1978 and 1979 Dodge Magnum in the United States and Canada was an addition to the Chrysler line up that allowed Richard Petty to continue racing with a Mopar.

The appearance was somewhat of a rounded off Charger, and was in response to getting a car that would be eligible for NASCAR that would be more aerodynamic, something the 1975-78 Charger was not. Styling features included four rectangular headlights behind retractable clear covers, with narrow opera windows, and an optional T-bar or power sunroof. The Magnum was well-featured with power steering, brakes and seats; the suspension included Chrysler's standard adjustable, longitudinal torsion bars, lower trailing links, and front and rear anti-sway bars.

For the 1978 NASCAR season, the 1974 Charger that Chrysler teams had continued to use was no longer eligible for competition. Chrysler worked on several car designs to smooth out the current 1975 bodied Charger into something that would be reasonably aerodynamic for the big racetracks and the Magnum design was settled on early in 1977 for use in the 1978 racing season.

Although the original intent was to provide a competitive NASCAR racing platform, many die hard Mopar lovers embraced the vehicle. The Magnum had the muscle car look and performance, with comfort and room for the family. This was exactly what the young, married Baby Boomers were looking for.

The Magnum has a cult following today, with several clubs and enthusiasts who are dedicated to the recognition and preservation of Chrysler's "Last B-Body"

Solid body with good, driver quality paint. You can't buy a 100 point show car in this price range. Yellow with Black Landau top. Exterior finish is good, paint is older. Still maintains a good shine. Some minor driving flaws, such as chips, scratches, and a few bubbles. Original Landau top is in good condition, but displays age cracking. Opera windows. Tinted windows. Glass is in good condition. Retractable headlight covers. Sometimes the headlight retractors don't operate. However, there is a knob to manually retract the covers. Headlights are also fully functional with the covers closed. Chrome and bright work are in good shape. Single sport mirror with remote. Slotted wheels with center caps and trim rings. Radial tires- P205/60R15 on the front; P215/60R15 on the rear.

The heart of this B Body is a 360 Cu. In. engine. Per previous owner, approximately 600 miles on rebuild. Horsepower is estimated at 320 HP. Carter Thermo Quad mounted atop an Edelbrock Performer 360 dual plane aluminum intake manifold. Big valves in the heads, which have been ported and polished. Flat top pistons. New crank shaft. Hydraulic street cam, .444 lift and valve train. HEI distributor. New alternator. New battery. High torque starter. Mopar headers flow into dual exhaust with free flow mufflers. Torque Flite automatic transmission has also been rebuilt, per previous owner. Small 1,800 RPM  stall converter also installed. 8.25" rear differential. Leaf springs in the rear, coil springs in the front. Front and rear anti-sway bars. Power steering. Power disc brakes. Cam appears to draw some vacuum from the brakes. Vacuum storage canister may be a proper add on. Under carriage is not detailed. However, it is clean and solid. Inner trunk is also solid.

Original interior. Dash board has some cracks. Both front seats show wear and should be recovered. Dodge seat covers on the front seats. Rear seat in very good condition. Door panels in good condition. Carpet is in good shape, but coloring is inconsistent.  Factory AC is present, but it requires a charge. Cruise control was not tested. Factory AM/FM radio. Factory oil pressure, alternator, and water temperature gauges. Wood grain accents. Power windows. Factory console. Padded two spoke steering wheel is in good condition, with a few cracks. Inside hood release. Full set of seat belts.

This is a nice, driver quality Dodge Magnum that is priced well under $7,000. At this price, if you want to improve the car with your own touches, you will not be upside down in the vehicle. Don't hesitate, you may not find another at this price.

2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad

Thu, 17 Jul 2014

Watchers of the auto industry will notice a theme among the formerly bankrupted American automakers, General Motors and Chrysler. There are the post-bankruptcy vehicles, and the pre-bankruptcy vehicles. The former, in the case of Chrysler, include the Jeep Grand Cherokee, as well as the 200 and 300. For GM, there's the Cadillac ATS, Chevrolet Impala and Buick Encore, among others. These vehicles have the freshest styling, with sharp exteriors and well-crafted interiors, as well as advanced powertrains and well-sorted chassis.
As for the pre-bankruptcy vehicles, they tend to be easy to spot. Most suffer from inferior driving dynamics, cheaper interiors, poorer fuel economy and often homely looks (we know, there were some decent cars before the bankruptcy, but they were pretty heavily outweighed by the bad ones). Think late, last-generation Chevrolet Impala or Chrysler 200. Increasingly, though, we're seeing vehicles that split the balance between pre- and post-bankruptcy. Vehicles like the Dodge Journey.
The Journey debuted in 2007 as a 2008 model year vehicle, meaning it should fall into the latter category. But heavily breathed upon in 2011, it now enjoys a new, 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, a big, critically acclaimed touchscreen display and in the case of today's tester, a new-for-2014 Crossroad spec.

2016 Dodge Viper ACR priced from $117,895

Tue, May 12 2015

Fancy getting your hands on the all-new Dodge Viper ACR? Prepare to shell out at least $117,895, not counting destination or gas-guzzler tax. Those two add $1,995 and $2,100, respectively, for an out-the-door price of $121,990. That's $32,900 more than a base 2015 Viper, or the equivalent of a Challenger with a few options. As we explained previously, the ACR model doesn't do much for outright power – the 8.4-liter V10 offers up only five more ponies than before – but it does add suspension and aerodynamic upgrades that make this particular Viper far more potent on the track. The order books are officially open for the ACR, so if you've got the coin, get in touch with your local dealer. Until then, head into Comments and let us know what you think of the ACR's pricing. Would you shell out $118,000 for the ultimate Viper? DODGE OPENS ORDER BANKS FOR NEW 2016 DODGE VIPER ACR The fastest street-legal Viper track car ever offers a tremendous value for performance May 12, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Viper enthusiasts with the need for ultimate handling, performance and road course domination, as well as the ability to drive their Viper home from the track, can now place their orders for the fastest street-legal Viper track car ever. The Dodge brand has announced pricing and opened order banks for the recently introduced 2016 Dodge Viper ACR. Unveiled last week at the revamped Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit, the American Club Racer model of the iconic, hand-built American supercar will have a starting U.S. Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $117,895 (excluding destination and gas guzzler tax). "Bringing our street-legal Dodge Viper ACR back is going to arm our track enthusiasts with the ultimate weapon to dominate road courses across the country," said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO - Dodge and SRT Brands, FCA - North America. "This is without a doubt the best Viper ACR ever. The latest in aerodynamic, braking and tire technology will ensure its legendary performance reputation around the world." Originally introduced in 1999 and last available for the 2010 model year, the Viper ACR has a long-standing legacy as the ultimate street-legal track car for club racing. The new 2016 model honors that performance legacy with significant aerodynamic and suspension upgrades, new Carbon Ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers and high-performance tires specifically designed for ACR.
